B.C.

Greetings all. My intent here is to gauge interest for a possible cooperative roleplay where players assume the role of members within a tribe of prehistoric homo sapiens. The beauty of this game will be the ability of the players to shape the tribe's beliefs, customs and way of life. Whether we are a tribe of murderous cannibals, or peaceful nature worshipers, or anything in between, will be decided by the community. At it's heart, this will be a survival game, with players working together to gather resources to survive the coming winter. As the game progresses, and depending on the players' choices, the tribe will grow or shrink, flourish or wither away.

Players can expect:

- A large custom map allowing players to explore, migrate, and hunt and gather.
- A competitive element where players jostle for influence within the tribe.
- Fluid gameplay where the choices of the players determines their characters skills and success.
- Progressive timeline where new generations of characters steer the tribe through peril.

Here's a sneak peek at the map we shall be using should there be enough interest...

As you can see our humble little tribe shall be starting out huddled within a cave, cut into a low mountain. Outside we see some stones, scattered grasslands and shrubs which we can surely utilize for tools, berries and perhaps some hunting. This is just a small portion of the map, beyond is an entire world of other terrain, game, predators, and other tribes.

As my last map does little justice to the scope of the game, here is the full res map, with a fog overlay that will be uncovered as you explore. I'll warn you, the map is quite large.

Thanks, I got a lot of goodies hidden under there just waiting to kill you :p

Think I may as well put down some more thoughts I have on the game, and give you guys some insight on what it will look like.

So I figure the game will be broken up into chapters, and those split up into books. At the start of each chapter, I will lay out information regarding the state of the tribe, some challenges they face, and any other background information that might play out in your ICs. Each chapter will move time forward a certain amount of time; anything from a few months to a few years. Books, on the other hand, will bring the game forward even further in time, shifting focus on the tribe on the next generation, and a whole new set of obstacles to overcome.

As far as your characters go, each player will be given a skill point for each IC they write regarding their main character. This, I hope, will give incentive for players to IC, as well as offer a guide to how experienced your character is in a given field. If a player is to write an IC detailing a perilous hunt through sabertooth territory, he would gain a point in fighting. Say another player writes an IC of telling a riveting story by the fire, fleshing out the tribe's lore, they would get a point for influence. If these two players then decide to compete for the position of tribal chief and wish me to moderate, I now have a guide on who is more skilled in a given area, how they may approach the conflict, and who would most likely win. The fighter might win a contest of strength, while the other may seem more wise. This also tells me who is more committed to the game via who has written more ICs. We wouldn't want a flaky chief now would we?

In the following book, a fraction of skill points will be transferred over to the next generation, your character imparting lessons upon their children. It will be interesting to see, as the game goes on, how our characters may become the heroes of future generations, and the trials they face become legends shaping the beliefs of the tribe centuries later.

yeah, for sure. Plus revered ancestors as we chug along. Perhaps an early character tames a wolf and through the generations the reverence for the character takes on different shape - perhaps legends saying he was part wolf himself.
