@The Grey Warden I hope you're feeling a little better now, Grey.

@Vandy Damn it. You've worked out my Kryptonite. Zack Snyder-directed superhero movies with a miscast Jesse Eisenberg in them.

Yeah, I'm not too thrilled about it either. I'm willing to give the man a chance but so far I'm not convinced from what I've seen in the trailers.

It COULD be incredible...am I much more likely to watch the next season of Daredevil before I go see BVS? Definitely.

There's a whole week between the two, so I might've seen Daredevil twice by the time BvS comes around.

It looks like it's going to be a very busy film. I enjoyed Age of Ultron but I did feel slightly like I got motion sickness halfway through because how quickly everything moved and how many characters there were. I'm starting to think Batman vs Superman will suffer from the same thing. Batman vs Superman is enough of an event in and of itself but introducing Wonder Woman and Doomsday on top of that? Good luck making that stick.

That and the infamous R Rating. I'm not a fan of Man of Steel for many reasons but a big one is that they take it too seriously for me. I get why but Batman falls apart when taken too seriously (nuclear bomb in Gotham anyone?) and Superman...I love Superman and think Henry Cavill is a fine actor...but he was never allowed to be Superman outside of maybe two scenes in Man of Steel...

@TimeMasterX I didn't like Man of Steel much the first time around because I thought it tried a little to hard to ape the Nolanverse style but I rewatched it recently and it's gone up in my estimations. I think were it released in a vacuum it would have been better received but because it came after Nolan and between a swathe of more devil may care, playful Marvel movies it suffered. It's why the X-Men movies (barring First Class) suffered - the constant bleakness wears on you after a while.

Hopefully in BvS they give Clark a chance to have a definitive Superman moment where hope wins out in the end and the whole film isn't a two and a half hour long episode in trying (and failing) to subvert the superhero genre.

@Morden Man

I re-watched Man of Steel recently myself. As a sci-fi movie I don't mind it but there was just a sense of aggression to it that just wasn't necessary.

For BvS I'm just hoping they don't do too much BatGod.

Is it bad my mind immediately went to Adam West there?

@Morden Man, bleakness is the perfect word for DC. I remember Kevin Smith came out with a podcast right after TDKR talking about the difference between Marvel and DC movies lately, and that was his whole point. DC movies are a fuckin' chore to watch. And not necessarily in the sense that they're bad -- even MoS, which I don't enjoy, is a decent film -- but just that everything's so dour and serious. The combination of Nolan-aping and Snyder's visual style doesn't help either, as they relentlessly suck all the color out of the world.

@TimeMasterX Yeah, there's nothing less interesting than an OP Batman whose insane "prep time" can have him stand toe to toe with people that ought to obliterate him. It's the one of the less interesting takes on the character and reinforces comic books as a medium as being kind of juvenile. Almost as if Batman were vulnerable and profoundly beatable he would less interesting. When the opposite is actually true.

@Eddie Brock I can't see a successful shared universe being built on it but I hope it succeeds if only so that the comic book bubble isn't burst and we end up missing out on some of the more faithful, entertaining adaptations.

You know what pisses me off about BatGod? What's the one complaint that everyone's so quick to throw at Superman? "Oh, he's got too many powers. He's too strong. It's boring watching a character that can't get hurt." But then most of those same people want a Batman who never loses! ARGH!

I'm personally a fan of Man of Steel. I prefer it to the Christopher Reeves movies and I'm a very big Superman fanboy. Yeah sure Supes wasn't as hopeful and wasn't able to save every single person in Metropolis but that was literally his first fight against a super villain in his entire life. And the criticism over supes killing Zod is a little dumb because Reeves killed him too.
