B.C.

Shrouded in a dark cave, huddled around a frail fire sit our ancestors, ignorant of the destiny that swirls about them, and their inevitable rise to dominate the globe. From the struggles of these humble beginnings, they shall learn the strength to overcome the obstacles that beset them. For outside their cave lies an entire world wrought with peril. This is not a story about man's dominance over nature, but the opposite. This is a story about survival. This is B.C. One day they will rule the world, but on this day, it is the world that rules them.

Welcome to B.C. A survival role playing game set in the early Stone Age. Players take on the role of homo sapiens of a tribe, each fulfilling their role in order to assure the tribe's survival for generations to come. The game will span generations as the Tribe overcomes challenges they face from outside world. Once survival is assured for one lifetime, the game will move forward to the next generation, where a new set of problems will be faced. While survival is the main goal, the real fun lies in shaping the customs, lore, and beliefs of the tribe. Your ICs will shape the tribe for generations to come.

How To Play

As far as game mechanics, there are very few. This game is built around your ICs. It is through them that the life of the tribe takes shape. IC a growing relationship of yourself and a prospective mate to the back drop of gathering berries - the tribe will gain food. IC a stirring telling of an ancestor's slaying of a saber tooth cat - expect a grim reverence of the animal to form among your tribe. IC the bonding of chutes of grass to make a net and the tribe gains a tool in which to catch food. Not only do your ICs work to benefit the tribe as a whole (or deter them,) but they also give you an experience point in one of three areas.

Strength: Ics about Hunting and fighting will make your character stronger.
Wisdom: ICs about learning, crafting or exploring will grant your character wisdom.
Lore: ICs on the telling of histories and stories will shape your tribe's beliefs, and grant you skill in lore which your tribe respects.

This system will serve as a guide so you can see the kind of character you are creating, based on their experiences, and should IC disputes need to be settled by me, I can see how each character might approach a problem and who would likely win. The more ICs you write, the more experienced your character is, and the more likely they are to win in internal disputes.

Should a dispute arise, such as two characters fighting to rule over the tribe as chieftain (should we deem such a position necessary), each concerned player PM an order to my inbox and I shall determine the winner in an IC.

The story shall be divided into chapters, each one presented with a challenge for our tribe to overcome. Whether it be finding food, discovering a hostile tribe, etc, once we overcome the obstacle we move on to the next chapter, which will move us forward in time, anywhere from a few days to years. Each collection of chapters will be divided into Books, each book moving us even further into the future, focusing on the next generation of our tribe. Once we move on to the next generation, your former characters may impart a fraction of their experience points onto their sons and daughters.

As GM I may IC as NPCs, including members of the tribe or their enemies. I will also track the state of the tribe and the map, unveiling new regions as your characters explore. I reserve the right to kill characters should I feel they have strayed too close to danger. Each player gets a single main character at a time, but may create any number of supporting characters that will weave into your ICs. I fully encourage you guys to create joint ICs as well, since we will mainly be writing in close quarters.

(Your Characters)Book One

The template for character creation. Keep in mind that in the beginning our tribe is pretty much a blank slate, with little to no possessions or tools, and should be incredibly ignorant of most things.

Supporting Characters

IMG(s)

Bio
Your minor characters' bio.

No doubt to begin our characters will be rather simplistic, having little knowledge of the world and tool crafting. This is knowledge they may gain as the game goes on as you develop your characters through IC. Regarding the background of the tribe, we begin as an as of yet unnamed group of survivors having traversed a freezing glazier following migrating mammoths. Beset by a treacherous storm, we have lost the trail of the mammoths and taken refuge from the blinding snow and ice within a cave. After days of deadly weather outside, the storm has finally subsided, and outside we survey an all together different world.

Maps

The known world. Our tribe emerges from the cave to unfamiliar terrain. The great glacier is lost and we stand atop a plateau before a great mountain range to the east. To the north we have a commanding view of a great expanse of desolation; jagged rocks and great pits cut into the earth like wounds. Beyond it all is a great mountain that bellows fire far upon the horizon. There are sparse grasslands, some shrubs and hard rocks outside our cave.

State of the Tribe

Population: A dozen or so.
Overall Health: Fair.
Food: Scarce.
Tools: None.
Resources: A tepid, cavernous pool that shrinks with each passing day.
Leader(s): None.

A collection of spiritual survivors lost in a deadly storm as they tracked a herd of mammoth across a great glacier.

@BlackBishopPossibly interested, unsure due to time constraints. But I did notice something, if we all lack the ability to craft stuff, how the fuck are we mammoth hunting? You can't exactly punch one to death unless we have a caveman Saitama in our group. Would we just continually throw rocks at it until it decided to fall over and politely die?

Na-Tuk

Na-Tuk is one of the oldest members of the tribe, and at one time an avid hunter and tracker. His use as a hunter long past, Na-Tuk now spends most of his days imparting advice to the younger men, giving all the benefit of his years of experience. His nights are mainly spent sitting around the fire telling stories and chanting.

Rayla-Tuk

Daughter and only surviving kin of Na-Tuk, Rayla is an adventurous young girl with a sense of wonder about the world, and a curiosity that often leads her into trouble. Her father often attempts to steer her to the side of caution, but Rayla's reckless spirit tends to get the better of his teachings.

Urza, also called Urza Longfoot

The tribe discovered young Urza in a small cavern to the south of their traditional hunting grounds. Many tribesmen believed the child was touched by the spirits because she showed no fear when the band stumbled upon her lair. The elder ignored these whispers and welcomed her to the tribe. The red-haired Urza grew into a lean, soft-spoken woman with a penchant for ranging ahead of the group to see what dangers lay in store. This habit earned her the nickname "longfoot." Armed with her trusty ashwood spear, Urza was excited by the prospect of hunting the great mammoths, though her gender and physique ensured she wouldn't be too involved. Now, in the wake of a brutal snowstorm, the horrified tribeswoman simply hopes to survive long enough to explore the unknown territory she finds herself in.

The characters look great thus far, feel free to move them over to the character tab. Also keep in mind that you may create supporting characters as well for your IC.

EDIT: Shocking side note - It is unbelievable how hard it is to get a pic of a cave woman that isn't sexualized. Wow.

Thag

Bio
Thag is not the strongest man, but he makes up for it with his ingenuity quickly learning about which rocks make better sparks for fire. He is young and has only seen a few hunts and while he is no prodigy in the art of hunting he has earned his place among their ranks. Some of the others would find him strange as he messes around with objects just staring at them. Few understand his mind, but he is content that they leave him to it. He believes in listening to the elders and loves the stories Na-Tuk tells.

Let me know if I need to change anything

Yes, though I'd prefer to avoid any domesticated animals off the hop - seems the process of taming a wild animal to be your companion is just to interesting an IC to pass up.

Can't I have at least a small hawk? You know, to scout surroundings for my character(who appointed himself as the tribe's protector)?

That's a really cool idea, but it may be really hard to explain how such a bond could exist with the tribe just coming off a glacier. If you can make it work in your character bio, have at her.

Hmm, ok, I have an idea. Since I don't want to modify the story. Can my character tell the story of how he got the hawk during one of the story times at the campfire?
