Hayate sighed when she hung up on her D-Ceiver and wondered what to do and took out her unchanged deck "I haven't bought any packs yet..." Hayate sighed but smiled straight away deciding it should be a good time to buy new packs instantly running down the stairs in a rush to the place to buy packs to improve her deck slight but sadly Hayate had no real clue about what to buy and when she arrived at the card shop she drew a blank being clueless on which pack to buy and had a rather clueless look on her face when she approached the clerk "Um... I just want some packs to improve my deck... But I don't know which ones... so maybe... you can give me 1 of each of the newest packs?" Hayate said rather confused and questioning her own decision but really she didn't know any better and of course the clerk was happy to help her out and just grabbed the latest packs for her who knows maybe she will decide to build herself a side-deck if she liked any of the cards
Hayato sighed when he realized nobody was there and promptly sighed and ran back to the academy of which he kinda wanted to just talk to someone who is actually capable of being nice but changed his mind and turned to Shinrei after still following him "Hey... Shinrei... talk to me... what is it that you regret the most in your life?" Hayato asked Shinrei out of nowhere "for me... it would be betraying my own sister..." Hayato said just following Shinrei around out of boredom taking out his deck "maybe even the way i grew up on the dark side of dueling..." Hayato added and sighed "You probably heard about it... Duelists getting bribed or Illegal dueling in the dark alleys and the worse one of all hired assassins to take out any competitors" Hayato sighed "heck even some companies are doing some shady things like some sick experiments on duelists even their own children" Hayato added luckily not mentioning any names in particular
Hayato sighed and changed the subject "Reminds me... Shinrei about what you said in your room a few days ago... I do have something to report... I saw your sister embracing a wind student... on the day of the Action dueling class... you know anything about that?" Hayato reported to Shinrei even though it was likely unimportant to mention but it was something he noticed and it involved Tsukiko seemed important enough to him "But other than that nothing really suspicious happened to hey other than the weird occurrence today" Hayato concluded and instantly wondered about something "Where were you that day anyways I couldn't find you or Hayate after i concluded my duel" Hayato asked slightly concerned about her taking out his deck "You know... You should stop being so alone all the time... spend some time with your sister or something if not just find a spot where you can talk to people. even if I prefer being alone at least i try to socialize with other people... but if you just want to talk to someone just come to me alright, its the least i can do for you if you allow me that is... heck i can't report anything suspicious when it comes to Tsukiko if i can't reach you" Hayato said looking at his D-Ceiver to check if he received any messages and sighed before deciding its time to split up "if you got anything to say back to me you can do that later..." Hayato simply finished and walked up the stairs thinking about finding a duel hopefully someone in his own dorm his loss streak started to bother him slightly but he was sure it was bad luck
Megan's gait was awkward as they slowly made their way to the elevator, which mostly involved Hass practically carrying her and Megan hopping on one foot. "No you're fine, thanks for helping me out Hass." she said cheerily to her rescuer. How embarrassing that she'd had to be saved. Whatever, as long as she didn't have to use crutches she'd be happy, after all she knew how over excited doctors got whenever anybody got hurt. The rest of the ride proceeded in silence as Megan caught her breath, preparing herself for the next stretch. The elevator arrived and the two once again slowly made their way out, arriving at the infirmary. To her surprise four other students were there already, a girl she hadn't met before, the girl that was rude to her earlier who was now taking a nap, and that cheery guy... Leando, Leander something. Along with some guy who looked like he didn't want to be ignored for some reason. "Hey guys, what're you two in for?" she asked them curiously as Hass helped her sit down in a bed and wait for a nurse to come by. Megan wondered whether anyone else had gotten into a duel like her after the left the class and whether lipstick lady had gotten caught. She remembered Leando or whatever had ran out of the room vaguely, but they'd gone different directions.
"Hey... Shinrei... talk to me... what is it that you regret the most in your life?" Hayato asked Shinrei out of nowhere. Shinrei didn't really want to answer questions at the moment. When he felt that surge back at the abandoned area he realized something was going on and was concerned for his sister's safety. When he had been lead out to the desert without a sign of her he thought she might have been abducted, but he later found out from one of his men that wasn't the case. "I lived it. Though the past is not important. So I only move forward." Shinrei said coldly yet kept his answer to Hayato as blunt as possible. He didn't want to talk about the darkness that enveloped around the dueling world or the insane experiments that companies performed on children. When he asked him what he regretted most in his life it almost irritated him since it reminded him of the moment his monster attacked his sister. He couldn't do anything and allowed to take away three months of her life. Three months that he had no way of returning to her. He didn't want to say the real answer to what he regretted the most so he came up with the most likely other answer which might satisfy Hayato, "Being related to my father."
He informed him about Ben who was hugging his sister. In the past that might make him burn with anger, but he decided he would trust in his sister's decisions. If he made her happy then that was more than he could ever do and he was happy for his sister. If he could comfort her when she was crying in agony then he wouldn't stand in the way of someone who could watch over her better than he could. Hayato then asked where Shinrei was and that wasn't a question he really wanted to answer. It wasn't like him to throw himself into other people's problems, but Hayate that day was a nostalgic feeling he felt from his mother. He couldn't explain why he felt that way nor did he want to talk about it. "Reviewing a file."
Shinrei didn't really want to listen to anything Hayato said. He was coming off as annoying though to prevent a feud between the two he tried to satisfy him by answering what questions he found as valid. One of the students mentioned that a girl with silver hair was hauled off to the infirmary carried by a brunette haired boy. Shinrei decided to head in the direction of the infirmary to confirm if it was his sister. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Meawhile in the infirmary, Tsukiko lied in bed as she finally was starting to come to again. Her head was completely hazy as she couldn't really remember anything about what happened. She recalled bits and pieces that she summoned a monster that was so powerful that not even she could control it. She thought about that duel for a second then it hit her. She was coming back from the desert when she ran into Vincent who was coming down the flight of stairs to check on her he said, but she wasn't sure if that was entirely accurate or not. He challenged her to a duel where she felt strange during the course of the duel like something was trying to influence it. She wasn't entirely sure what it was, but she also remembered her card started to glow right before the duel started. It was obvious that card was Void Dragon, but she wasn't sure what it was trying to tell her.
She then remembered she could sense how powerful that card was and how dangerous it was if it fell into the wrong hands. That's when she finally realized that Shiyura was trying to warn her about using the card, but now that she used it the card she had been baptized by fire and now her fate was intertwined with it whether she wanted to accept that fact or not. It was then, she realized that boy that showed her that card when they were children was none other than her brother. It was the first card Shinrei had received from his mother before her death. A card that used to be really special to him until that fateful day during the Finals on the World Circuit. Shinrei was affected by the card in the same way she was on that day except he summoned a really powerful monster that she still couldn't remember the name of. If Shiyura had that monster then defeating him was not going to be as easy as she thought.
Tsukiko sat up on her bed as she used her palm to rub her head trying to focus as things were still a bit blurry and shaky. That monster she had used earlier felt like it had taken almost all the energy sucking her almost completely dry. She was still a little lethargic and a bit sleepy from the influence and negative effect it had on her body. Had that been someone else, she might have actually really hurt someone with the power of that card. It was Vincent though who had fully prepared himself against her double Fusion Summon which would have been curtain for most players. She didn't remember the result of the duel, because when she was finally freed from its control she felt sluggish where she collapsed within seconds after her monster disappeared. The monster may have disappeared, but its presence inside her had awakened. "He might not be that bad after all. Funny to think he'd care about girl like me who is always so negative about everything. Guess not all boys are bad." Tsukiko laughed as she lightly smiled trying not to let anyone see her doing it. She still didn't want to give the impression that she was a friendly girl as she still wasn't going to trust people so easily. That part of her didn't change, but she decided that she would allow Vincent an opportunity to get to know her better deciding he could be her friend like Ben.
Fortunately the boy Michelle had bumped into was forgiving on the matter. Then the boy surprised her by identifying her as Michelle. "Yes, I'm Michelle," Michelle said, slightly confused as to how this boy knew her name before she was able to reveal it to him. She briefly wondered where he could have learned it, then made the conclusion that he probably recalled the sliver of information from a previous duel, most likely the placement duel from the first day of the academic year. Michelle looked downward as he placed a hand on her elbow, then looked back up to Joshua as she asked, "So, what's your name?"
Leander Xenovia
"We haven't known each other very long, but we've had some good times, huh?" Leander mumbled, still talking to his Airknight Parshath card. Leander then drew the next card on his deck, which was revealed to be Nova Summoner. "You too, huh?" Leander said. "Well, see you guys next time." After putting his deck back into his deck box, Leander turned his head and spotted a girl on the bed next to him. She was looking at her deck as well, although with a frustrated expression. With a sight like that, what was Leander to do? Make friends with the new girl, of course! "Hey there, don't make that face," Leander said, lazily waving his hand around to try to catch Amelia's attention. "You should put a smile on your face, or the friends in your deck won't smile either."
Maisy hummed, frustration furrowing her brow as she looked over the packs. Fableds were spread out VERY widely it would seem...a lot were in the Hidden Arsenal packs, and they even had some Naturia cards. Scratching the back of her head as she mused over the possibilities, she couldn't help but try and remember what every Fabled card she'd seen, however few, actually DID. It was nice to have a lot of a kind of card, but there's no point in getting even a rare card if you have no idea how to use it. She's learned that the hard way with Soulkius and Peggulsus. Oh...but then there were the structure decks. Maybe she'd be able to switch up her playing style, or maybe even just change it entirely. But. Fableds were still cute. At least most of them. Soulkius wasn't exactly what one would call "Totes Adorbs" but hey, anything can be cute to someone out there.
With her mental struggle over with, Maisy got back to pack-picking, really, really wishing she could have won Akemi's friendship AND their duel so she could buy a pack...but she was fine with waiting a bit to get more cards. After all, losing was part of the adventure, right? That's what Dad always said. Thoroughly bored of pack-picking and theory testing in her head with what little she knew, Maisy curiously tip-toed over to the back of the other girl in the store as her packs were gotten, before asking: "Get any good pulls?" genuinely curious since right now it was either she talked to the other student, or talk to the shop owner and get kicked out for loitering.
Vincent had been standing in the infirmary for what seemed like a few minutes now. he was most probably just resting from carrying Tsukiko, though he was also contemplating the words she said and what context they actually held. Though beside from resting Vincent had no real reason to stay, Tsukiko was stirring and as such that generally meant they were okay. So Vincent left after another pair of students walked in, it was getting a little crowded in there after all. So Vincent just stepped out into the hallway and took off choosing a place at random. What better place to choose then to stare at all the cards on offer?
Arriving sequentially a few minutes later after walking, Vincent looked around the room at the kids opening packs and enjoying themselves even after all that had happened. Yet Vincent's eyes seem to set on a certain person with a Hat, the reason why he even ran out of the Synchro classroom in the first place. The Hat was like a omen. Either way if it wasn't for that hat he wouldn't of got to see a rank-up xyz, though in the same way if it wasn't for that hat Leander Wouldn't be in the infirmary. Trying to act as inconspicuous as possible as he made his way over.
Angelo smiled as he was told which runner he would use from their instructor but before he got to far the instructor told him not to modify the duel runner because he would be given a base frame to work with when his parts came. Angelo sighed but resigned to using the duel runners they had given him. Angleo didnt like how plain the color was but he found the frame itself very interesting in how its made to look like it was put together with two different halves. If Angelo didnt know better he would have thought it was a dark dragon with the way its "eyes" are put in the front along with the back looking like scaley tail. Angelo sat in the seat making sure to bring up the "arm" upwards before doing so. Angelo sat down in the seat and worked on getting comfortable in it before bringing the arm back up to get out and push. Angelo then started to push the runner onto the track like he saw Ethel and Inga do with their duel. Once Angelo got his runner onto the course he then pulled the arm up and sat down waiting for Camryn to join him
Camryn admired her Duel Runner. It was very sleek and futuristic-looking, especially compared to Angelo's, which, while it looked jury-rigged, had a certain grace to it; it rather looked like a dragon on wheels. Huh. It even looks like a spaceship. I wonder how they knew? ...Eh, whatever. I can muse over the mysteries of the administration later. Right now, it's time to duel! ...After I push this thing out of the garage. She walked to the back end of her Runner and starting shoving with all her might. To her surprise, it moved quite easily, and she had almost no trouble getting it to the track. Once it was in position, she hopped into her seat, revving the engine slightly and reveling in the feeling of piloting her own Duel Runner/spaceship.
Angelo then looked over seeing that Camryn was their in her spot on the track then Angelo grinned as he put on one of the spare helmets that was given to them. You ready to Turbo duel? Angelo asked knowing the answer as he put his duel disk into the runner and set his cards in his slot on the front of the runner ready to press the speed world spell activation button.
At the sound of Angelo calling to her, Camryn looked over at him and replied "Damn straight! Let's get going!" A part of her wondered if her new power was going to her head, but it was promptly told to shut up and enjoy the ride by the rest of her. She placed her deck in the holder, gave Angelo a thumbs-up, and hit the Speed World activation button.
When she gave Angelo the thumbs up he hit the spell activation button and he smiled seeing the spell take effect forming the rings around their duel runners before expanding to the entire track and above their was a marker saying the details of their lifepoints and speed counters then right in front of them was the "Get ready, set, go" of the color lights on his hud.
Upon seeing Speed World being activated, Camryn gawked at the transformed track. She'd seen it activated in Turbo Duels on TV, but never in person! It looked so... so colorful! So pretty! She almost missed the "ready, set, go" lights that appeared on her little HUD.
The countdown finally started as the lights started to dissapear on their huds and Angelo started to feel the familiar rush of a turbo duel begin before the final light vanish saying "GO!" Angelo grinned and immediatly kickstarted his runner
As the lights started to disappear, Camryn felt a surge of adrenaline. This is it! This is gonna be my first Turbo Duel! Her hands tightened on the handlebars so hard that her knuckles showed through, stark white against her brown skin. Once the last light disappeared, Camryn immediately gunned her Runner, zooming ahead to catch up with Angelo.
Lets Turbo Duel!
Angelo grinned as he stuck to the inside of the track which gave him the first time turn which meant he was allowed to go first in their duel. Angelo quickly drew all his 5 cards to the slot in his right hand for holding them Looks like im going first Angleo smiled already having the workings for his first big combo but he didnt have the exact kind of card he needed for it to work so for now he knew he had to start small. For the time being Angelo decided to test the waters with his new opponent. From my hand i summon Dragunity Javelin Angelo said smiling when the circle appeared in front of him and teh dragon flew out of and soon joined his field flying next to him

Angelo smiled as said With that ill end my turn
Angelo: 4 cards in hand, 1 mon, 1 counter Camryn: 5 cards in hand, 1 Speed Counter, no field
Camryn frowned as Angelo took the first turn ahead of her. She drew her hand quickly after Angelo finished his turn. Her mood did an about-face as she pored over her starting cards. Things were already looking up! "I summon Deepspace Berserker, in attack position!"
A blood-red ship swooped down from above, weapons locking on to Angelo's monster. It made a tinny chittering noise as it hovered at Camryn's side. (ATK: 1200 -> 1500)
"Berserker gains 300 ATK for each Level 4 or lower LIGHT Machine-type monster I control, and is always counted as having 1200 ATK for my card effects. So now it's strong enough to take out your dragon! Berserker, attack!"
The ship's weapons powered up, and it swooped towards Javelin. A small gun on the bottom of its hull launched a projectile at the dragon, which exploded on contact, blowing Javelin into shards.
Angelo sighed as he saw the Berserker attack his monster he turned his head away to avoid the dust from the attack. This was only a light hit so it wouldnt hinder Angelo riding his duel runner but still he lost 300 life points on her first turn. He had to think of something to turn this around...
"And that's not all! With Berserker's other effect, I can search my deck for another member of my fleet and add it to my hand! I'll be choosing Deepspace Scout." A slightly blue-tinted hologram of a white-and-orange ship was projected from Berserker's windows, before resolving itself into a card in Camryn's hand.
"I'll set two cards and pass the turn to you."
Angelo: 5 cards in hand, no field, 3 Speed Counters, 3700 LP. Camryn: 4 cards in hand, Deepspace Berserker (ATK: 1500), 2 set cards, 3 Speed Counters, 4000 LP.
Angelo sighed already seeing that he was the first one to take a hit but he will be damned if he will be the last. He wasnt going to loose again if he could help it. He drew another card smiling a little thinking that he has seen enough of her skill to be warry and he wasnt going to let himself go on the defensive. He saw that he had another speed counter which adds up to 3 so he checked to see if he could use anything to help him. He had one that would work at the moment but the problem that he had now was concerning the face down cards that she had which could be traps but he couldnt risk not using his first combo of the duel so he said From my hand i summon Dragunity Partisan in attack mode Angelo said playing the card and as he took the turn the dragon appeared in the same manner as before his head was sword pointing forward and he had purple scales as he flew next to his master.

Angelo then decided it was time to bring out a big player in his game plan. Using a special ability i send my Dragunity Partisan to my graveyard so i can special summon Dragunity Arma Mystletainn! Angelo said waving his hand towards his dragon as he turned into a colorful ball before reforming himself into the much larger dragon holding a sword and bright yellow scales.

But just so you get the point across im going to activate my first speed spell called curse of fate! Angelo said as he used his speed spell and as a result it consumed 2 of his 3 speed counters which made him fall behind Camryn in terms of speed but gave him the advantage of life points making hers drop by 1050. however because i used my speed spell i cant let my dragon attack so instead ill set one card face down and pass it back to you Angelo told her as he placed a card face down
Camryn tried not to cry out as the candle depicted in the spell appeared, and was immediately splattered everywhere, including on her. I thought they turned down the damage thingy! That friggin' hurt! The hot wax was already disappearing, and all that was left was a faint red mark, but that wasn't much comfort; Camryn was certain that the feeling of being covered in hot wax would stick with her for a long time. "Good thing you can't attack this turn. Otherwise I'd be forced to use one of my facedowns!" She said with a cocky grin.
Angelo: 1 card in hand, Dragunity Arma Mystletainn (ATK: 2100), 1 set card, 2 Speed Counters, 3700 LP. Camryn: 4 cards in hand, Deepspace Berserker (ATK: 1500), 2 set cards, 4 Speed Counters, 2950 LP.
Camryn drew her next card. Oh, nice! That'll be useful later. "I summon Deepspace Scout, in attack position!"
The white ship from earlier flew down, hovering at Camryn's other side. Up close, it looked rather dingy and kludged together; its paint was dingy and missing in places, and though it had three weapons, one of them - a nasty-looking red thing - remained powered down when the other two were active. (ATK: 1200)
"I know this ship may not look like much, but she's more useful than she looks! Case in point, I'm gonna activate her effect to Special Summon another fleet member from my hand! So say hello to Falchionβ!"
Another ship swooped in to join Scout, this one bearing some resemblance to Camryn's Duel Runner; it had a tailfin on the top (although it appeared to be mounted backwards), and its wings, tailfin, and cockpit were accented with blew stripes, the majority being a bright white. (ATK: 1200)
"And because I have two more fleet members, Berserker grows even stronger!" Indeed, Berserker had sprouted another weapon while they weren't looking: a large tube, fitted with what looked like a missily and with a matching red paintjob. (ATK: 2100)
"Next, I activate my set card, Ojama Trio! This summons-" Before she could finish her sentence, the three Ojama Tokens appeared on Angelo's field, making "nyehh" noises and crude gestures. (DEF: 1000 x3) "...Yeah, them."
Angelo growled looking at the stupid monster tokens on his side of the field as they were making crude gestures and honestly it was starting to piss him off Damn you stupid little bastards! Angelo said wishing he could really punch them. This duel was taking a turn for the worst and he knew it he had to take his aggression out on something...
"Yeah, that's pretty much my reaction to them. Fortunately, they won't be sticking around long, because I'm gonna enter my Battle Phase! Attention Deepspace Fleet! Power all weapons!"
The motley crew of ships immediately seemed to perk up, weapons whirring to life, each targeting a different Token. "You first, Berserker! Crush that yellow one with Breach Missile!"
The bloody ship wasted no time in firing a missile at the annoying creature. It was destroyed before it could even make a sound.
"Now because of the Token's effect, you lose 300 LP, and because of Berserker, I can search out another monster! Lord British Space Fighter is my choice this time."
Another hologram was projected onto the field, this one of a small, acrobatic-looking ship. It coalesced into Camryn's hand.
"Next target! Falchionβ, take out the black one with Rolling Missile!" Falchionβ spun around in place, firing a pair of missiles as it spun. They both struck the Token, which let out a squeal. "And now I can use Falchionβ's effect to send UFOroid form my Deck to my Graveyard." A cartoonish UFO could briefly be seen on the field before it dissipated.
"Final target! Deepspace Scout, remove the green one with Artemis Missile!" The dinky ship powered up its missile launcher, one of its three thrusters going dim as it did so. The missile it launched, however, was unerringly aimed, and the third Token was blown to tiny bits even faster than the other two.
Angelo growled a little as he covered his face from habit when each of the tokens were destroyed If it wasnt for the fact that they cost me 300 life points each i would be thanking you for getting rid of them Angelo said with an tired sigh knowing things needed to change fast or he would be overwhelmed...
"Heh, I feel the same way, really. Though right now I should be thanking them, because that lets me use Scout's effect!" The ominous-looking beam on Scout's underside began to flicker to life, then lit up and swivleed to face Arma Mystletainn. "When it destroys a monster in battle, I can destroy one card on the field! Time for Arma Mystletainn to become part of the asteroid belt!"
The beam flashed red for an instant, then tore across the field, starting at one end and flashing to the other side. Arma Mystletainn looked puzzled for a moment, its expression remaining as it slid into two pieces, then shattered. The beam returned to its inert state, Scout's third thruster flickering back on again.
Angelo groaned loudly seeing the shatter Damn it! Angelo was really getting annoyed now because he was backed into a corner and he knew that if he didnt do anything on his turn then he would have another loss on his belt...
Camryn, on the other hand, was feeling incredibly pumped. I'm actually gonna do it! I'm gonna win my first Turbo Duel! Oh my god this is gonna be so awesome! Outwardly, she stayed calm(ish), saying "I'll end my turn here. Your move."
Angelo: 2 card in hand, 1 set card, 3 Speed Counters, 2800 LP. Camryn: 4 cards in hand, Deepspace Berserker (ATK: 2100), Deepspace Scout (1200 ATK), Falchionβ (1200 ATK), 2 set cards, 5 Speed Counters, 2950 LP.
Angelo sighed and knew he was in deep trouble he needed a game changer and he needed it soon if not this turn then on his next when he will be lucky if he survives this turn. Angelo took a breath to calm down as he slowly pulled out his next card from his deck and saw that it was of no help to him other then a shield. I set one card face down and end my turn Angelo said placing the monster face down.
Angelo: 2 cards in hand, 1 set S/T card, 1 set monster, 4 Speed Counters, 2800 LP. Camryn: 5 cards in hand, Deepspace Berserker (ATK: 2100), Deepspace Scout (1200 ATK), Falchionβ (1200 ATK), 2 set cards, 6 Speed Counters, 2950 LP.
Camryn drew her next card with a flourish. She smiled slightly when she saw what it was. Ah, man. I remember you. First card I ever owned... She shook herself. Now wasn't the time for reminiscing; she had a duel to win! "Alright! I'm gonna skip straight to my Battle Phase! Falchionβ, attack that set monster with another Rolling Missile!"
The blue and white ship began gyrating in place again, firing off its missiles as it did. They slammed into Angelo's set monster, briefly revealing a small dragon roughly the same color as Berserker before it shattered. "Now, with Falchionβ's effect, I can revive the UFOroid that I ditched earlier!"
The aforementioned UFO appeared next to Scout, antenna buzzing. (ATK: 1200) As it appeared, Berserker's weaponry grew noticeably more advanced, now sporting another laser cannon with multiple small barrels. (ATK: 2400)
"Berserker, attack Angelo directly with Vulcan Chain Gun!"
Angelo groaned loudly as he felt that hit as it came into contact with him damn that was painful Angelo said with a sigh knowing that he just lost again but this time it was in a turbo duel, now that one hurt his pride...
Camryn took a deep, calming breath. She was fit to burst with how excited she was, but gloating about it would definitely not win her any friends here. Instead, she shouted "Alright Scout, lead the Deepspace Fleet to victory! Attack Angelo directly with Pike Beam!"
The small, dingy spaceship made a vwirr of acknowledgement, and almost seemed to concentrate as its other two weapons went limp. The beam on its underside glowed a hot red, then, all of a sudden, it jerked up to focus on Angelo and fired directly at his chest.
Angelo groaned as his screen showed a large X in front of it as his duel runner started to burst with the steam from overheating. He lost again and this was a turbo duel no less the thing he was planning to be a professional at...
WINNER: CAMRYN
Angelo sighed loudly as he lost once again, This time he decided to see if he could have won the next turn had he survived and when he pulled out the next card it was revealed that he would have lost anyways. How sad this loss really hurt his pride.
As the two of them came to a stop, Camryn practically leapt out of her seat, almost dancing with joy. She had finally won a duel! And it was her first Turbo Duel, no less! After a bit of silent gloating, she remembered her manners and went over to Angelo, offering a hand to shake. "Sorry that ended so fast, my hand was pretty unfair. No hard feelings?"
Angelo sighed and he forced a smile when she offered him a hand to shake. Just because he lost doesnt mean he could forget that she was a lady and that she won fair and square. He took her hand gently and stood up getting out of the duel runner dont worry about it just means i need to try harder next time Angelo said letting her hand go so he could push the duel runner back to the garage. He wasnt going to admit that this loss was painful to him because it was a turbo duel, Angelo just had to deal with it and try to relax but right now he needed to put the duel runner back and report to the teacher...
Camryn nodded. "Oh, good. I was hoping that we could be friends. You know what they say, dueling brings people together!" She said as she pushed her Runner back to the garage. Once it was back in its proper parking spot, she walked as quickly as she could back to Mr. Cellrate. "Hey Mr. Cellrate, my duel with Angelo is finished! What next?"
When they returned the duel runners to the garage Angelo again forced a smile when she asked if they could be friends Sure we can be friends but i want to be alone for a little while okay? im going to see you later though Angelo said really thinking that he shouldnt be hanging out with the person that royally schooled him for a while maybe he could talk to tsukiko he was certainly sad enough...
"My name? Joshua. Joshua Tamashii, Action Duelist in training." Joshua said with a mock bow before straightening up again. Looking at Michelle, he tapped his chin in thought before snapping his fingers. "Hey, wanna have a game? I got nothing better to do since classes are kinda cancelled and I could use some points. I'm sure you could use them as well."
"A Duel?" Michelle asked in surprise. At first, Michelle didn't know how to respond. Strange things had been happening recently, and it was centered around Dueling. At the same time, there didn't seem to be any reason to turn down the challenge. Eventually, Michelle responded with a, "Sure." Michelle figured that she could use this chance to clear her thoughts of the unpleasantness anyway.
"Alrighty then, a duel it is. But I got a question for ya: Do ya want an Action Duel or a regular one? You seem a little stressed, so I think running around could do ya some good, but in the end, you decide." Joshua said.
"Well, I'm fine with either one, really," Michelle replied. "Although I do prefer playing a regular duel over an Action Duel."
"Regular duel it is then. Kinda boring but maybe I can try to make a show of it." Joshua said before leading the way to an empty arena. Once there, he pulled out his duel disk, which unfolded itself to form the blade. After shuffling his deck and putting it in, he pulled out a coin. "Alrighty, heads or tails?"
After following Joshua to the arena, Michelle placed her duel disk onto her arm and turned it on, the blade forming itself as it was activated. Michelle then placed her deck into the deck slot, where it was then auto-shuffled by the duel disk. Michelle gave a moment's thought for her choice for the coin toss, then decided, "Tails."
Joshua tossed the coin and caught it as it came down. "Tails it is. First turn to you or to me?" He said.
"I'll take the first turn," Michelle said, drawing her first five cards.
"I Summon Raiden, Hand of the Lightsworn in Attack Position!" Michelle declared, the rogue-like warrior appearing on the field.
Raiden, Hand of the Lightsworn - Level 4, ATK 1700
"Now I play the Continuous Spell: Lightsworn Sanctuary, and the Field Spell: Realm of Light," Michelle added, the field transforming and a odd-looking metal frame appearing behind Michelle. "Then I activate Raiden's effect to mill 2 cards from my deck." Her deck then ejected 2 cards, which Michelle pulled out and placed in her graveyard slot, the cards revealed to be Breakthrough Skill and Jain, Lightsworn Paladin. "One card was Jain, Lightsworn Paladin, which means Raiden gets a 200 ATK increase until the end of your turn," Michelle explained.
Raiden - ATK 1700 --> ATK 1900
"Ah, but you're also getting a boost from your field spell, am I right?" Joshua noted
Michelle nodded. "Yes, that's right, as both Realm of Light and Lightsworn Sanctuary gain one Shine Counter each for Raiden's milling effect. I'll enter my End Phase, and Raiden mills 2 more cards from my deck." The next two cards were revealed to be Lumina, Lightsworn Summoner and Blackwing - Zephyros the Elite. "And now Realm of Light and Lightsworn Sanctuary gain one more Shine Counter each. Turn End."
"Jeez, no attacks and I'm already getting the floor wiped with me. Gods help this poor soul." Joshua said with a laugh drawing his card. Looking over at Michelle's field, the air of easiness he had been giving off vanished in an instant as he narrowed his eyes. "That's a right painful set up you got. Can't get rid of Realm due to it's effect. No point getting rid of Santuary either. And wil Realm effect, I'm on a time until you simply overpower me. Well then, first I'll activate Valhalla, Hall of the Fallen from my hand. With its effect, since I control no monsters, I can Special Summon one Fairy-type monster. I special summon Fluffal Dog in Defence mode."
On Joshua's field, a giant plush dog with a small pair of wings on its back and a pink collar would appear, crouching down with its paws over its head as if to protect itself.
Fluffal Dog - DEF1000
"With Fluffal Dog's effect, I search my deck for a Fluffal monster or an Edge Imp Sabres and add it to my hand. I'm going to add Fluffal Owl to my hand." Joshua said before showing the card and placing his deck back in his disc, which auto shuffled it. "I then set one monster and end my turn."
"Draw," Michelle declared, drawing a card from her deck. "I Summon Garoth, Lightsworn Warrior in Attack Position," Michelle said, the well-built axe-wielding warrior appearing on the field.
"I activate Raiden's effect to mill 2 cards from my deck," Michelle said, milling Foolish Burial and Realm of Light. "Because of that, Garoth's effect activates as well, allowing me to mill 2 more cards," Michelle explained, milling Beckoning Light and Monster Reincarnation. "Of course, my spells gain 2 Shine Counters each from the milling effects."
"Battle Phase! Raiden, attack Fluffal Dog!" Michelle commanded, Raiden charging forward to strike down the dog plushie, slicing through the fabric and destroying it. "Garoth, attack the face-down monster!" Michelle continued, Garoth moving forward and swinging his axe downward at the card.
Joshua's monster appeared briefly, being a odd mechanical construct before disappearing. However, a ring of light appeared under Garoth and it would vanish from the field. "Kelbek returns the monster that battled it to the hand after damage calculation." Joshua said simply, placing the monster in his grave. "Now, let's see... Raiden is going to be at 2200 attack points at the end of this turn. Fun times."
Michelle said nothing, only milling the next two cards from her deck, Lightray Diabolos and Lightray Daedalus. "Turn End," Michelle declared.
Joshua wordlessly drew his card. "I Special Summon Fluffal Owl in defence position with Valhalla. Through it, I search out the spell card Polymerization." Joshua said, summoning a plush owl now and taking the spell from his deck. Lookig at his cards, Joshua sighed and set two of them face down, one monster and one spell or trap. Given his opponents luck though, he was not expecting the latter to stick around long. "Over to you, One Who is blessed by Izanagi. So, Raiden will be what, 2700, 2900 this time around, depending on your mills?"
"Perhaps," Michelle said, drawing a card. "I'll Summon Garoth back to the field in Attack Position, then activate Raiden's effect to mill 2 cards." The two cards, Fabled Raven and Lumina, Lightsworn Summoner, were sent to the Graveyard. "Lumina, Lightsworn Summoner was sent to the Graveyard, which means Raiden gains a 200 ATK increase."
"So it's 3100 at the end of this turn. Yeah, no thanks." Joshua said, placing his hand on top of his deck. "This was a very boring duel. Lowest of the low on the entertainment scale."
"Agreed," Megumi said reluctantly, returning the cards in her Graveyard and hand to the deck.
Joshua surrenders. Michelle wins!
"Well, only one way to remedy that. Try again." Joshua said, shuffling his deck. "A one sided slaughter is not a duel. Course, if I slaughter you this time, we'll have to keep going. And if you slaughter me, same deal. We keep going until we have an actual duel worthy of the term."
Michelle briefly wondered if that was a good idea, then decided to go with the flow. After all, both of them could only benefit from the Duels. "Ok," Michelle agreed. "I went first last time, so it's only fair that you go first this time."
"Draw." Joshua said, glancing at his hand. "I Summon a familiar creature. Come out Fluffal Dog. And with its effect, Fluffal Owl to hand."
The plush dog appeared again on Joshua's field and let out a few yips while wagging its tail excitedly.
Fluffal Dog - Level 4, ATK 1700
Joshua added Fluffal Owl to his hand and glanced and Michelle's field. He could guess her face down monster but he decided to risk it anyway. "Fluffal Dog, attack her face-down." Joshua commanded, causing the dog to jump at the card.
As the plushie landed on the card, a white wolf appeared from underneath, dodging the attack as it sprinted towards the left face-down on Joshua's field. "Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter's flip effect activates, letting me destroy a card you control and mill 3 cards from my deck," Michelle said.
"Knew it, but please go on and select your target." Joshua said with a laugh.
Michelle pointed to the card to her left, which Ryko ran towards and bit down on, destroying it. Fluffal Dog, however, had been chasing it, and Ryko was too slow the avoid the attack. Meanwhile, Michelle milled Judgment Dragon, Jain, Lightsworn Paladin, and Solar Recharge.
Joshua sent Nightmare Wheel to the grave and waved his arm, signaling the end of his turn.
"Draw!" Michelle said as she drew another card. "I Summon Raiden, Hand of the Lightsworn in Attack Position!" The rogue-like warrior returned to the field, blades ready for battle.
Raiden, Hand of the Lightsworn - Level 4, ATK 1700
"Trap Card open. Bottomless Trap Hole. In case you don't know, Raiden is now destroyed and then banished." Joshua said, revealing his trap card.
Michelle was slightly frustrated to see the giant green monster pull down her monster into the pit, but she would have to make do. Unfortunately, she was out of moves this turn. "Turn End," Michelle said.
Joshua wordlessly drew his card and glanced at Michelle's field. If that face down was what he thought it was, the only reason she didn't use it last time was because she wanted Ryko to go off. Still. "I summon Fluffal Owl and add Polymerization to my hand." He said, adding the card and shuffling his deck after the plush owl from last time appeared.
Michelle knew she was at a disadvantage in terms of field presence, but she also knew that she couldn't let that get to her. "Draw!" Michelle declared, drawing a card. "I Summon Jain, Lightsworn Paladin in Attack Position!" The female paladin appeared on the field, sword and shield at the ready.
Jain, Lightsworn Paladin - Level 4, ATK 1800
"Oh, this is gonna hurt." Joshua muttered.
"Battle Phase! Jain, attack Fluffal Owl!" Michelle commanded, Jain charging forward to attack. "When Jain attacks an opponent's monster, her ATK rises by 300!" Michelle explained.
Jain, Lightsworn Paladin - ATK 1800 --> ATK 2100
"Why do you think I said this would hurt!" Joshua said, a small smile on his face. Maybe he could get her to smile, not moving as the paladin charged.
Michelle's eyes widened in suprise as she realized what an error in judgement she had made. She realized then that perhaps she should have not attacked this turn to build up her own defenses for the next turn. "Oh no," Michelle said as she reacted to Joshua's words. Fortunately for her, no trap card or anything had been activated, and Fluffal Owl was sliced into two. Michelle was shocked for a moment, then she wondered if there was perhaps no Trap card or anything after all.
Joshua LP: 4000 --> 2900
"Trap Open. Fluffal Crane!" Joshua declared, revealing his trap. "When any Fluffals on my side of the field are destroyed by battle or card effect, so long as they are face up, one returns to my hand. So I get Fluffal Owl back. And since the Crane Game is such an unfair one, I net a second prize by being able to draw another card."
With that, Joshua added Owl and one new card to his hand, keeping a poker face at the results.
Things were a bit better than expected, but only a bit. Michelle knew she was still at a disadvantage, but she believed she would survive if she played her cards right. "At the End Phase, I mill 2 cards," Michelle said as she milled Lumina, Lightsworn Summoner and Lyla, Lightsworn Sorceress. "Turn End."
"Draw." Joshua said. Smiling he knew what to do. And best part was that, even if it backfired, he had a back up. "I summon King of the Swamp on my side of the field in Attack mode."
On Joshua's side of the field, a green mass of goo rose up on his side of the field
King of the Swamp- Level 3, ATK 1700
"Tell me Michelle, do you believe in demonic possession?"
Michelle raised an eyebrow at the question, then responded, "Why do you ask?" Michelle already knew the answer to the question, but she felt that it still had to be asked.
"Reasons." Joshua said, flipping his face-down monster face-up. It was Edge-Imp Sabres, the monster appearing like several pairs of scissors joined together, with a pair of demonic eyes coming out from between the gaps in the handles.
Edge-Imp Sabres- Level 3, ATK 1200
"Now then, I play the spell, Fusion Substitute. With this, I can use monster on my side of the field for a fusion summon. I use King of the Swamp's effect to treat it like Fluffal Bear and fuse it with Edge-Imp Sabres! Claws of the Demon! Fangs of the Beast! Become one and reveal a new form and power! Fusion Summon! Appear, horrifying beast that shreds everything! Frightfur Bear!"
Joshua's monster's floated into the air as he chanted, turning into streams of red and blue light that spiraled together. A plush bear appeared in the air before it was torn in several places by pairs of scissors, with two pairs acting as its arms and another pair coming out of its stomach. The bear's mouth opened, revealing a pair of demonic eyes.
Frightfur Bear - Level 6, ATK 2200
"I switch Fluffal Dog to Defence position and then have Frightfur Bear attack your Jain, Lightsworn Paladin!" Joshua said, his fusion monster throwing a punch at Michelle's monster, its arm extending to close the distance.
"By discarding Honest from my hand, Jain gains ATK equal to the attacking monster until the end of the turn!" Michelle countered, sending a card from her hand to the Graveyard. Jain suddenly grew wings of light from her back and blocked the incoming attack with her shield, then knocked the arm aside and counterattacked, piercing the monster in the chest.
Joshua LP: 2900 -->700
Joshua shrugged, having been expecting something like this as he placed Bear in the grave. "I activate the effect of Fusion Substitute. I banish it and add Bear back to my Extra Deck. then I draw one card." He said. "You know, I was expecting something along those lines. I send one card from my hand to the top of my deck to Special Summon Edge-Imp Sabres to my field in defense. Then I set one card and end my turn."
"Draw!" Michelle said as she drew a card. "Since I have more than 4 LIGHT monsters in my Graveyard, I can Special Summon Lightray Daedalus from my hand!" A giant blue serpent appeared on the field next to Jain, looking threatening.
Lightray Daedalus - Level 7, ATK 2600
"Battle Phase! Lightray Daedalus, attack Fluffal Dog!" Michelle commanded, Daedalus lunging forward and ripping the plushie to shreds. "Jain, attack Edge Imp Sabres!" Michelle continued, Jain rushing forward to slice through the many pairs of scissors.
With the Battle Phase out of the way, Michelle said, "I'll set one monster, and mill 2 cards with Jain's effect." Michelle then moved to mill Lightsworn Sanctuary and Alexandrite Dragon. "Turn End," Michelle declared.
Joshua drew his card and sighed. He had one shot at this. but he had a feeling that new monster was another Ryko. Still, he had to do something.
"I once again summon Edge-Imp Sabres with its effect, returning one card to the top of my deck." He said, the pair of scissors appearing on his field again. "Then I summon Fluffal Owl to search out Polymerization from my deck!"
"I activate my Trap card: Breakthrough Skill, which negates the effect of your Fluffal Owl," Michelle countered as a grey scaly clawed hand shot out of the card and struck the owl.
"Fluffal Owl attacks Daedalus." Joshua said with a shrug as the owl was smashed by the serpent and his life points hit zero.
Joshua - 700 LP --> 0 LP
Michelle Wins! again
"Well, I'm bored now. Later." Joshua said, walking away while raising a hand.
Michelle was about to say a farewell as well, until she remembered something. "Wait a minute!" Michelle called out. She took out her D-ceiver and asked Joshua, "Do you, um, want to add each other on our Friends Lists?"
Joshua turned around and frowned. "Nope. I only add people I can have fun with. Sadly, as it stands, your deck is unable to provide me with that right now with the way mine is. Your deck is too powerful, and your mills, while bad, do nothing to hurt you. Really, for a standard starter, it's more balanced and powerful than most. So as it stands, I have no interest in dueling you until I improve mine, though you will doubtlessly put even more of a gap between us until then." He said.
Michelle placed a hand above her heart, feeling hurt by his words. Michelle could not deny his blunt statements, though. After a moment's silence, Michelle looked down and quietly said, "I see. Alright then, I understand."
Joshua's frown deepened. "I have nothing against you, you know. You seem like a nice enough person. But you pick a deck like Lightsworns, people are bound to avoid you because they won't view it as worth their time with the chances of losing in their favor. If you want my advice, take those points you got and buy a weaker deck to give others a better chance. Though, there are others who prefer a challenge. So maybe you should seek out those who prefer to better themselves over having fun." he said.
Michelle thought about Joshua's words. She remembered the days of her youth when there were people who did avoid Dueling her just because she used a Lightsworn deck. They said it was no fun to play against, and that it was too hard or frustrating to do so. Those thoughts brought a few tears to Michelle's eyes. She didn't want to abandon the Lightsworns in favor of another deck so quickly, yet she wondered if it wasn't possible to just have fun playing a Lightsworn deck.
"... all that being said though, I am looking to improve myself. So maybe you occasionally challenging me to a one-sided massacre might not be entirely bad. My first sign of progress will be actually hitting your life points." Joshua said, trying to make it sound offhanded.
Michelle wiped away her tears, then looked back up at Joshua. "So then,I'll... see you next time," Michelle said awkwardly before walking away.
"Time will tell. Until then, consider if that deck really gives you what you really want." Joshua said before walking away.
Ryder monitored the screens as both tracks were in use at the moment. The one on the outside track had drawn to a close, and the two students dueling there finally made their way back into the garage. Surprisingly, one of them won by dumping as many of the opponent's cards into the graveyard and then Cemetery Bomb-ing them, which was quite the unorthodox strategy. Two more students arrived to occupy that track soon after. Whilst the instructor guided them to their runners, Camryn and Angelo's duel came to a close with Ryder missing the end of it. "Ah, damn... I'll have to watch the recording later..." they mused to themselves, watching the two make up and pushing their bikes back into the garage. From the parts Ryder DID manage to see it was a lot closer than the Ethel and Ignia match, though not as close as those other two students who just came back. Nevertheless, he congratulated both Angelo and Camryn on their duel. "Great! You both seem to have gotten the hang of the basics of Turbo Dueling already. I don't think there's much advice I can give either of you just yet." was his commentary.
Once the both were back into the main part, Ryder suddenly realized something. He'd gotten a call earlier to blow off classes, but didn't want to do that because this was an important one. He did have a solution though. "Oh, right! All students, pay attention!" they called out to everyone in the room. "Those who've dueled already are free until after lunch break. These duels will take a while, so you can hang around the main building after changing and meet me back here after you've eaten." Ryder cheerfully announced. Dell and her assistant noticed another swarm of students entering the infirmary, with the woman anguishing over more patients and the man biting his lip at seeing more people had gotten hurt. Sure, when it was just Leander it wasn't bad. And they were expecting Amelia. But when Vincent came in a second time with a passed out student, and a brown haired boy practically carried a stumbling girl bleeding out of her foot, it got bad. "Could the non-patients leave, please?" the man asked whilst bandaging Megan's foot. Dell was micromanaging both Amelia's checkup and Tsukiko's status, beckoning for the other two to leave as well. They did. Good. Now they had to figure out who to kick out, because Megan needed a bed and none were available.
They had two choices at this point. Amelia had just finished with her checkup, and Tsukiko was waking up. "Mike, the girl's recovering." Dell called out into the back, which caught her assistant's attention. "Great, is there a bed available for this girl?" he called back out. Dell thought for a moment. "Yeah, I think so." Dell replied. She scuttled over to Tsukiko, who'd just sat upstraight. "Sorry for the inconvenience, but we're a little full at the moment and you don't seem to have any exterior damage. If you're still feeling fatigued, I'd suggest going to your room to rest." the school doctor said to her, then turned to Amelia. "Also, Amelia, you're free to go. Nothing seems to be wrong at the moment." Dell informed her. Whoever left first could see their bed's sheets getting changed, and Megan being helped over to rest in it.Ethel was almost bored, Ignia wasn't anywhere around and Angelo took the lead in lifepoints. She was about to take away her eyes on that duel, but then Camryn did something interesting. A combo with her three Ojama tokens, leading to a hand refill and Angelo's monster going down. "Oh?" she mused to herself, raising an eyebrow. From there on it was smooth sailing for Camryn, who took an easy victory over the idiot. "...Hm." Ethel grunted, a smile lifting up on her face. Nothing too big, but it was a sort of content feeling at seeing that pest getting beaten. She was starting to like this Camryn, she dueled straight to the point. Maybe they were someone to keep an eye on. When both those other duelists returned to the track, Ethel overheard Ryder basically telling her she was free to go. "...Sure." Ethel commented, though not really expecting an answer out of anyone. She went back to her stall, checked to see if any perverts placed a spy camera, and got back into her regular clothes. No spy camera was found. Ethel felt that even with her clothes being thick, they felt really breezy after having been in that riding suit for an extended period of time.
Ethel took her handbag back, then exited the changing rooms. She looked around only to find nobody of any real interest, so pulled out her D-Ceiver for a moment. She'd registered Ignia the day before, mainly because of the other girl's constant pestering. She slid her thumb across the surface, going into her friends list. Naturally the only one in there was Ignia. She decided to shoot her a quick text message. It read as follows: "Going to the card shop, 'kay? (^▽^) I'll see you around later!! (≧v≦)". Knowing how Ethel acted outside of the digital world, this seemed like a very... Out of character text. But unlike some bait-and-switch, this is actually what she sent. Ethel slid the device back into her handbag and walked outside of the building with the same stoic expression as always.
After a few minutes, Ethel entered the card shop. She noticed a few others walking around but paid no attention to them. She walked over to the counter and requested two specific cards, "Blackwing Armor Master and Raidraptor - Rise Falcon please". As requested, Ethel got er two cards after a quick exchange of points. She looked at the new Synchro and Xyz card, holding it up in the light to get a good reflection. "...Heh." she chuckled to herself, having a content smile and sliding them into the extra deck. Ethel gave a bow to the attendant, turning around and walking back to the elevator. Then, out of the corner of her eyes, she noticed a certain someone. The girl that was with Shinrei yesterday. A wicked smirk sprawled over Ethel's face, enjoying the thought of messing with her a little more. Though there was another girl with them, and honestly, she didn't want to get on too many people's bad sides. So, instead, she strolled over and pulled up the chair across from Hayate. Ignoring Maisy, Ethel addressed the tomboyish looking female student: "Hello again. Have a good day?" she snidely asked, although unaware of what's been happening around the academy.Haas almost felt the need to correct Megan on how she pronounced his name, but was more confused about how she knew him in the first place."Did... Did we meet before?" he asked her, and felt maybe just a twang guilty at the thought of forgetting someone. Though the elevator came to a close, and he had to help the girl back in. "Alright, let's go!" he cheerfully said to Megan whilst helping her in. The two doctors inside seemed extremely busy, but did take the time out of their day to help Megan out. Though a certain person in the infirmary caught Haas' attention. "...Tsukiko?!" he nearly shouted, then got barked at to tone it down. "Sorry..." Haas whispered, still confused about why Tsukiko lay there fainted. But the two people staffed for medical duty asked both Haas and the other boy standing in the room to leave, so he happily obliged. Once out the door, Haas slid one hand to his forehead. "Geez... Why was Tsukiko there?" he wheezed, then took another look around. Unsurprisingly nobody was in the area, so Haas decided to go up the stairs for a bit.
Whilst walking up and getting lost in though, Haas noticed another boy making his way down. Someone with long, black hairs and an academy-licensed folding disk on his arm. Haas got excited, seeing as it's someone who he hadn't met before. "Hey there!" he cheerily called up the stairs. It's then he noticed the boy belonged to the Wind dorm, one higher to Haas. That was a little scary, considering they probably were a better duelist much like that Cassie person from earlier. Though that didn't stop the excitable boy from dashing up the stairs. Surprisingly, the shock for seeing Megan hurt had pushed Haas back into that state of mind again. Once arriving where Joshua was, Haas noticed they were a little... Annoyed. "Erm... Sorry. Bad time?" he asked, scratching the back of his head in embarrassment. Probably wasn't a good idea to approach a stranger out of the blue.
Vincent had continued to make his way over until a blue haired girl got there first. 'God damn it Ethel' Vincent thought as he just gave up trying to stay hidden and just walked over. "Hey everyone, hows it going." Vincent said with his arms behind his head. It was kinda awkward talking to them considering he had literally interjected into whatever conversation or what ever conversation was forming. Which even he knew was kinda rude, Yet he could do with talking to actual people with standard ways of talking. Especially after his day so far. Besides what was the worst that could happen to him. Well besides being beat the hell out of for his intrusion.
Ignia Nosfera
After the duel Ignia returned her Duel Runner, she was actually growing attached to its storylike design on it. Though either way she didn't exactly own it, so any changes she wanted to make to it if she did, she wasn't allowed to do so or at least didn't think she could. Either way the next Duel started and yet Ignia wasn't watching too busy looking at her own cards in depth for strategy. So it wasn't a surprise that Ignia didn't see how the Camyrn won, just that they won. Which was awesome for them, however they did it. Shuffling her deck Ignia listened to what the teacher had to say. It seemed that they were free for lunchbreak and that made Ignia smile. She could spend that time doing something like duelling cause currently, she was way behind in the skill needed to win.
So after one last quick shuffle of her deck Ignia returned to the changing rooms to get changed. It was mostly pretty uneventful until her D-Ciever which was in her rucksack vibrated with a notification. half dressed only in the Green under shirt and trousers. Ignia picked it up and read the notifaction. Almost questioning if the identity of the person who sent it was the actual person considering the difference. Either way Ethels message reminded Ignia of the card shop. Which she really needed to pay a visit to. "Thank you, Ethel." Ignia said under her breath as she finished getting changed and headed out towards the Tower again. It seemed like a couple of minutes before Ignia was inside the elevator which was ascending towards the card shop floor.
after a agonising wait of a few seconds, Ignia burst out of the elevator like a black haired bolt of lightning running right up to the counter and stating what she wanted. "Hey there, I would like to get two Nefarious Archfiend Eater of Nefariousness', please" Ignia said pausing for a moment to catch her breath as she continued. "I would also like two Inari fire" she said speaking quickly as if she was overflowing with impatience at using the card shop for the first time. slowing down, Ignia still had points spare. she needed something else. Looking at some of the singles on offer, Ignia settled on one of the newer ones. "And to finished up I would like one Ruby Fire Kyuubi and another Unpossessed please" She finished as she was handed the cards. Smiling she put all of them except Kyuubi into her pocket, Kyuubi went straight into her extra deck. She would have to sort out her cards later.
Looking around after this Ignia saw Ethel in a conversation with someone. A guy was nearby. He looked awful famili- Why the hell did Vincent have to be there! Ignia made her way over trying to Ignore Vincent as best as she could to save eons of awkwardness about not talking to him earlier. Her mind was racing with prayers to whatever god was out there 'Please don't recognise me, please don't' She thought over and over and she just stood their behind Ethel like she was part of the furniture.
"E-erm... I don't know... I am still very new at this Dueling thing..." Hayate said with a confused look on her face as if she doesnt know if buying those packs was the right choice taking out her deck and opening the packs and instead of looking at the cards putting them on top the deck one at a time only revealing each card one by one with enough time for the person who was looking over shoulder to see what they were, though what she was is a mistake no duelist should make even if they were new "Could you believe what happened today?" Hayate said concerned about what happened earlier during class "when some people tried to chase after that woman I got a bit worried... what if someone got hurt in chasing them or if there were more of them... it scares me just thinking about it" Hayate looked at her and sighed "At least I know you didn't get hurt... but I guess you wouldn't get hurt all you did was run after your hat after all" Hayate commented then stopped to think and wondered if she should have asked for advice rather than just buying the latest packs and inserting everything in her deck and took out her deck "You think any of these cards can improve my deck...? Hayate asked handing over her deck with her new cards on top of the deck "I only played with my brother's and father's decks... so I don't know how to build one myself" Hayate said a little ashamed of how she is managing her deck
Tsukiko noticed one of the nurses came over and asked her if she would go rest in her room so they could open the bed for someone who needed and she didn't argue at all nor did she say a word. Still quite fatigued and out of like a vacuum had sucked up all her energy like a sponge absorbs water she rose to her feet and stepped out of the infirmary. She didn't have anything to say to the nurse when she left since she had other things she needed to reflect on. When she made it out into the hallway as she closed the door she walked forward a few meters then leaned her back up against the floor as she pulled out the monster card that was strangely glowing earlier when she encountered Vincent. When she was about to whisper something to herself she noticed a familiar voice which sounded like her brother. In fact, it was her brother who was approaching her with Hayato? Why was Hayato with him? She questioned as she was somewhat relieved to see her brother show up finally.
"Tsukiko, I'm relieved to see you're safe." Shinrei said toward her as he tried to speak as normally as possible. The only time he really said anything or more than just what was warranted was around his sister or during his business dealings. While he was with Hayato he didn't really say much to him other than try to satisfy him with simple answers which were aimed straight at the point. He didn't really want to talk about the past, because personally he didn't really care about it. Not like thinking about the past would change anything so he focused on finding his sister rather than Hayato's inane rambling.
Tsukiko felt a little more calm at the presence of her brother though she was staring at Hayato with suspicion. He didn't strike her as the type of person who really approve of her brother so why was he following him around in the first place. Not only that, he was also not in class like her brother which made her wonder where they went anyway. Not that it was any of her business so she tried to refrain from asking things that had nothing to do with her. She guessed her brother was out on business since he was dressed in his black duster and business attire. Though what Hayato was wearing is not something that someone on business matters would wear. She wouldn't ask Hayato what he was doing either since like her brother it wasn't any of her business. It just didn't sit right in her mind that the two were together. Though she had a hard time focusing since she was still quite depleted herself. After the duel with Vincent, she was nearly completely exhausted from probably the influence of that card is what she would have guessed.
"You used the card, didn't you?" Shinrei questioned toward her as he looked at her with suspicion knowing that something was different about her. He knew full and well that cards normally didn't impact their users like that unless they were ones that the user didn't understand the gravity about. He knew her lack of knowledge of the card is why it expended most of her energy since it would take a lot of vitality to endure the power of such a card. Most likely, the card had transformed her personality since most cards wouldn't just suck someone dry of energy unless they weren't strong enough to control it. "I would rather you not get involved in this." He said toward Hayato requesting that he leave and let him talk to his sister alone. He just wanted to find out more about the situation involving her and the person who she used the card against. The card was not any of Hayato's business anyway which is another reason he advise he leave. Besides, he thought he should go see if his sister was okay.
Tsukiko didn't really know where to start or what to say to her brother as she stopped leaning against the wall and decided to walk in the direction to acquire two new cards which she heard about which would help her Fusion Summoning ability. Shinrei knew like anyone that she needed to add more Fusion Monsters to her deck while the two walked toward the shop. He would also give her some time to tell him the full story seeing that her condition was poor at best as she looked pretty exhausted. When they reached the room, they noticed several other students were there including Hayato's sister Hayate.
Ethel looked appalled when Hayate didn't even bother to shoot her a glance, now having an abysmal opinion of the girl. She didn't even think there were people out there that lacked even the basics of courtesy. The girl would have gotten enraged, but then noticed a sudden crowd having been amassed all around. Ignia popped in behind her, Vincent snuck over and Shinrei + trash girl strolled on in. This was getting a little too much for the girl, who rose from her seat whilst quickly musing "My excuses". Ethel quickly marched out of the door and took a few breaths, detesting having to stay in large crowds when she doesn't need to. "...Great, what now?" the girl pondered, raising one finger and putting it against her brow. "Maybe..." she muttered, before settling something. Standing around wasn't going to do her any good, and she needed to test out her new cards. So, Ethel decided to take the elevator up to one of the Arena floors to scout out some duelists. She settled on floor 17, which hosted arenas M and N.
Angelo sighed as he was told that they would be given a break until lunch. Angelo just needed to relax for a little while so he left and he went straight to his room. Once their he got a pair of swimming trunks that he brought with him, he felt glad that he did despite knowing the place was in the dessert he also thought they would have a pool. Once he changed putting on his trunks along with a plain t-shirt and a towel he went down the elevator and into the pool area where he found tsukiko he put his things on the chair and he dived into the pool relaxing at its cool touch thinking this was a good place to relax for a while and get his spirits back up...
"Alright, thanks." Nathaniel sighed as he nodded his head and walked away. From the sound of things, things were starting to die down. Okay, bad choice of words. Things were starting to calm down.
As he headed back to where Brad was, Nathaniel sneaked another look at the two kids dueling at the table. Even with the distress all around them, these two kids found a way to still have fun and hold on to hope. If that was the case, maybe there was something Nathaniel could do after all.
"It looks like things are starting to calm down a little." Nathaniel said to Brad as he approached him. As he stood in front of the larger boy, he reached out his left arm in front of him, showing Brad the Duel Disk now strapped to his left arm. "So how about a duel to pass the time?"
Amelia looked up as the boy in the bed next to her addressed her, telling her she should smile otherwise her friends would get sad. This statement completely confused her, since she had no friends to begin with. Before she could begin to ponder it, the nurses came and began dismissing people from the infirmary. She was told she would have to leave if another girl didn't first but it seemed her other neighbor was eager to leave, as she simply got up and left. Turning back to the boy, Amelia tilted her head in confusion. "What did you mean by... my friends?" She asked, her voice low and lacking any form of confidence.
Before Tsukiko could answer him he told her that he needed to do something when he watched Ethel leave. She saw her brother walk in Ethel's direction as she would still remain around so she could pick up her two new cards. She also noticed posters of new cards that had just been recently released as she was waiting for her turn to get cards. She looked at one of the posters which featured a dragon engulfed in flames and behind it was total destruction of the world it look like it lived in. The card read Final Apocalypse Dragon though it was mainly for those who ran machine decks though it did look like an interesting card. She also noticed a new Fusion monster came out which she could actually use. It said Chrysantheum, The Spell Breaker Dragon which used two cards she had in her deck as fusion material monsters. She wanted that fusion card as it would strengthen her deck giving her more options, but she had already reserved to The Dark - Hex-Sealed Fusion cards that numbered two.
She asked the person at the desk to give the two cards she had already purchased where she grabbed them from their hand and began examining them closely. She read the wording on the cards closely though there was a part about Contact Fusion that she couldn't understand. She wondered if her brother knew anything about Contact Fusion since she wanted to learn more about this ability. Surely she knew that Shiyura probably knew how to use Contact Fusion which would put her at major odds against him since she had no knowledge of the ability. She took her two cards she still had in her hand and decided to find a table where she could be alone while she arranged her deck. These two new cards were ones her brother told her about and she would also have to not forget to thank her brother for trading her his Overload Fusion, because it really gave her a boost in her last duel with Vincent despite her not winning it.
She set her two cards down on the table as she took her deck out of its holder on her Duel Disk and fanned out her cards. The three Void Dragons she felt she could sense something faint from, but she thought it was her imagination. She remembered that last duel she wasn't entirely herself where she was icy which is not something that usually fit her character. Sure she thought it was pleasant at the thought of others hurting, but she wouldn't inflict that harm on them herself. She found it a total waste of time since there were other things she could be doing rather than pushing around people who were beneath her. She glanced over in Vincent's direction for a second thinking about everyone saying how good Vincent was and some of the students not happy that he is so good. Some thought he rigged his deck to win which was a rumor she heard the other day, but she dismissed it since there was no evidence that this was true. Sure at the time she didn't like Vincent and hated him with a passion, because of how much she thought he represented the thought of her father but she wasn't about to defame someone with conspiracy theories. "I suppose Vincent is as good as I heard he was. He did play well but I don't think he knows that Void Twin Dragon is not my best card." She whispered at herself as she froze in thought as she was reminded of how the card hijacked her mind for a moment changing the way Vincent was suppose to perceive her. She grabbed her locket which helped her like a dream catcher remove those nasty thoughts that she didn't want to think about which made her instantly think about her mother. She wondered if her mother would have played that any differently or even her brother? She didn't know anything about her mother's dueling style and her brother was always unpredictable about what he would. Sometimes he would make some of the most brazen moves which would make most amateurs lose the duel if they tried them.
She remembered he told her before they parted ways that Vincent's greatest weakness in his deck is that it relies too much on the graveyard. She wondered what he meant by that since she didn't get to see him play any cards that used the graveyard. That was most likely because she was sleeping beauty on the floor. "That meant..." She stopped herself as she tried to say the rest of the statement only to be stopped by the thought that it was Vincent who carried her to the infirmary. As she kept that thought in mind she decided to think to herself for a moment. I still don't know. He's shown he's worthy of my trust, but there something about him that still bothers me. Maybe if I allow him to get to know me better I might be able to understand him better. He's certainly more trustworthy than that boy from yesterday who wouldn't stop harassing me, that's for sure.
Tsukiko hoped that everyone would just leave her alone while she worked on making proper adjustments to her deck. She was still a bit out of and not fully recovered though she didn't let that stop her from making herself stronger. It was true that she wanted to do anything to make herself stronger, but she really wondered if Overdrive Mode as they called it when she was under the influence of her card if that would come back to haunt her one day. She hated to think that getting stronger might possess her to attack someone she had close relations with which is why if she had no friends it would be a major burden off her shoulders. She picked up one of her Void Dragon cards and began to examine it as it lightly glowed in her hand responding to her. "You brought fortune and glory to my brother. I hope you will smile the same treasure upon me as we become more closely linked together through our bond." She said quietly to herself though a few students looked at her wanting to know why she was talking to her card. Also it was very suspicious to be continually staring at a card like it was a stare down contest. Tsukiko ignored the unusual staring from some of the students as she continued to work on her deck.
When Amelia asked about her friends, Leander redrew his Airknight Parshath from his deck and held it up for Amelia to see. "The ones in your deck, of course," Leander said, a large grin on his face. "Always take care of them, because they'll always be with you." Leander also gave her a thumbs up. It was always good to help people see the importance of their decks, and this girl was no exception.
Joshua sighed as he left the duel arena. That had been a total disaster is nothing else. Then again, Lightsworns where one of the stronger decks. If he thought about it, most Light-Attribute decks where strong for some reason of another. Pushing such thoughts out of his head, he headed towards the card shop and looked through the displays. He knew which sets he needed for his deck to get better but he didn't know which one to get. It essentially came down to getting the basics or getting his Extra Deck in line. Checking up on the points he had, he decided to focus on both for the time being. "One booster set of The New Challengers and one booster set of Crossed Souls please." He asked the cashier before exchanging the points needed for them. Taking his packs with him, he found a quiet corner to open them up and see what he got.
