All plot-important duels will HAVE to be RP'd out. I can't control this, but I trust my players enough for them to do so. You can number each of your card in a separate document and then use a random number generator to randomize the cards you draw.
The Duel Tower
The old bus shuddered as it made its way down the sand-coated road, with no stopping point in sight. The sweltering heat made you almost regret your decision, but with the promise of cool air, comfortable conditions, and dueling at the end of your journey, you simply had to endure the trip. The chatter of other students on the bus made it almost impossible to think, though you tried, as you had an important decision to make. Which structure deck did you want? Around 3 weeks ago, at the entrance exams, you were told that you wouldn't be able to bring your own cards, and would instead have to earn the cards you wanted. You would be able to choose a structure/starter deck to start with, and would earn points to buy more structure decks, cards, and packs. Not only that, but you are also going to have to choose two study courses right before the placement duels...
At some point, you noticed a massive skyscraper, which looked extremely out of place here, in the middle of the desert. This was the Duel Tower. You could here the other new students cheering around you as the bus came to screeching halt in front of the school. Your group is stopped at the door by a staff member of some description.
"Follow the blue line on the wall to Arena B. You will pick up a duel disk and a deck there, and then we will commence your placement duels." The staff member stepped aside, letting your journey truly begin.

Information
Duel Tower
The Duel Tower is a massive, circular skyscraper in the middle of a desert, and is also one of the most well known Duel Academies in the modern world. It has 50 above-ground floors, and 3 below-ground levels. Almost all of the above-ground floors of the Duel Tower consist of a single room with a single door, with said door connecting to a small hallway with elevators and a stairwell. These doors are locked if the facility was to be closed at that time.
The Old Building
A half broken down tower, who's backside and roof are completely demolished as well. It stands at about a quarter of the Duel Tower's height, and is actually quite a bit wider. Its front is still intact, but the entire thing's covered in vines and moss due to the old age. Inside are staircases leading up to what remains of the top, though the entire thing's a danger zone due to the poisonous insects and dangerous animals using it as both shelter and hunting ground. Students are strictly forbidden to go there, and there's a heavy punishment for doing so.
Courses
In the Duel Tower, all students must choose two specialized courses to study. Every student gets lessons from each course, but when you specialize you gain extra time on those subjects and get taught more in-depth as well as being able to qualify for Exhibtion duels. After choosing your structure deck and pack, the teacher will direct you to another table where you have to write down what you will choose to study that year. There's two types of courses, which you must choose one of each from: Dueling and Summoning. The dueling courses focus on the various ways you can play Duel Monsters. First years can take these three:
Turbo Duel, Action Duel and Standard Dueling. For summoning courses, the students can choose from the following: Fusion, Synchro, Xyz, Ritual, Pendulum and Standard.

Rules
- No godmodding, bunnyhopping, powerplaying, or taking control/killing another player's character. You will be dealt with if you do.
- Follow all RPG rules. I'm keeping this one for novelty's sake, but it should be a no-brainer.
- Don't be a dick, people don't like dicks. Well, some do, but you get the point.
- No fighting in the OOC, when I say to knock it off it's time to knock it off.
- If you are going to quit, make sure to tell me by PM, or in the OOC. This way I can write your character out of the story in a believable way.
- Duels will be done through text, so use titanpad. There are many perks to this system, one of which is that you don't have to organize a specific time to duel. I'm open to you using something else like Dueling Network or YGOpro though, but I expect at least a good recollection of the duel afterwards for the entertainment of the others and me being able to judge.
- Do not godhand or stack in a non-scripted duel. Godhanding is giving yourself a perfect hand, and stacking is giving yourself the perfect draws. To avoid both of these, assign a number to each card in your deck, and use a random number generator. Anyone found godhanding/stacking will be kicked from the RP. I'm VERY strict on this, and take no prisoners.
- Unless you are doing a duel in multiple segments, wait until at least 2 other people have posted before you post again. I'm more lenient on this rule if it's a once-in-a-while thing, but this is just to prevent thread hogging.
- Rulings will follow TCG rulings, with some exceptions:
- You can only have on field spell for the purposes of aesthetics.
- Link monsters and Link rules will not be applied here. This is because this RP is set in a time before Link monsters are a thing. This may change in the future.
- Duels will be fought with 4000LP.
- If you have a ruling question, ask me, the OOC, or google.
- Important: You can not use Rank-up xyz changing, Accel Synchro or Contact fusion unless you have learned the skill in the RP itself. All contact fusions need poly or similar, all xyzs need to be summoned using the materials listed and Accel Synchros can't be accessed until literally created.
- Last but also the most important ruling: My word, and any other Co-Gm's(who may or may not ever get appointed) word, is law. If there is something you don't like, I appreciate being told in a respectful manner. However, if it is something important and you demand it is changed to the point of causing needless drama, well... this isn't the place for you.

The Card Market
In the Duel Tower, cards can be purchased with points.
Points are earned via dueling.
A win in a standard duel will give 30 points.
A loss in a standard duel will give 15 points.
Why so much? Progression is slow, if YGO video games have taught me anything and RNG can screw you over. By having a guaranteed whopping two card packs every duel this speeds it up just a little.
Special Events don't give points for wins unless specified in the rewards area.
Costs:
1 Booster Set (2 Booster Packs) costs 15 points. (Exception: Card packs that naturally give you more than 9 cards. Will also cost 15, but only one will be given.)
1 Booster Box (15 Booster Packs) costs 100 points. (Exception: Card packs that naturally give you more than 9 cards. This will not be available to those.)
1 Structure Deck costs 60 points \But, the first structure deck you get is 66% of the original price (40 points)./ 1 Custom Structure Deck costs 90 points (This is to prevent getting the cards you need for a powerful deck this early and price will increase based on the amount of decks bought)
You can trade in 30 single cards for a single booster pack (Not Set) of your choice, be they custom or real life.
Custom cards can not be bought and have to be pulled in Booster Packs. You can not buy a boss monster (Extra deck monsters or big bad main deck bodies that you can summon easily) as a singular cards. The rate is 10 cents (EUR or USD) = 1 point, up to a max of 35. If the card is a power staple, such as Mystical Space Typhoon, Torrential Tribute or Bottomless trap hole it will cost double its price (10 cents = 2 points up to 70). If the card is more situational like Armageddon Knight or Reinforcement or the Army, half its price will be added to the total. (10 cents = 1.5 points up to 53). This is to push people to buy more gimmicky cards such as Xyz Unit or Monster Slots, to make duels more exciting and true to the anime. I don't want to treat this as real games of YGO with a story slapped on, but rather a story with a few card games slapped on.
Custom Structure Deck rules:
You can't make a custom structure deck unless you are making one for a new character. You may have up to 7 custom cards (7 custom cards, but you may have multiple of each custom card) and you choose up to 30 cards in your deck, the rest will be balanced out by the GM. Five of them will be generic "Staple" cards, such as Bottomless Trap hole and Mystical Space Typhoon, while the other five will be 'niche' cards suited to your deck. The standard ratio of cards is 20/10/10, BUT, you can alter these numbers by a maximum of five digits. This means you can have as low as 15 monsters, 5 spells or 5 traps but also can't go higher than 25 monsters, 15 spells or 15 traps. All structure decks are 40 cards main deck, with a maximum of five extra deck cards. The more you choose however, the more niche or weaker they have to be.
Custom Cards
You can either use these templates, or a custom card maker. Make sure to put these custom cards in the OOC, or in a PM to me, so that I can log them all in this post. I'm fairly loose on what I allow, but it has to be within the confines of reason.
Note: Due to issues in the past, these rules are in play.
- 1: You can only submit ONE card every two days. Don't exceed this limit. Also, if your card gets rejected, do not submit a new one within the limit. Just edit or scrap the current card idea.
- 2: No new archetypes, we already have enough RP-unique ones.
- 3: No support for 'Void'. I'm taking control of that series.
- 4: If monster requests outnumber Spell or Traps by too much, I will not be accepting Monster cards until more Spell or Traps are created.
Custom Card Templates:
Note: I will be allowing copies of certain "Number" cards who's effects are not overpowered. The reasoning being is that while they're not in the RP, I feel like taking away the ability to have their effects severely hampers Xyz decks. These are case-by-case basis however, and I won't allow copies of cards like Silent Arc or similar in power.
Structure Decks
Everyone will start the RP with a structure deck. If you create a custom structure deck, I will put the list here. Each deck can only be chosen by 1 person, so all decks that have already been claimed will also appear here. The rarity and new cards rules for structure decks (http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Structure_Deck click here to learn about them) will not be enforced so that custom card structure decks can function.
Events
This section will list all current and past events in the RP.
Italicized events have yet to occur, but are about to.
1. Arrival:
You arrived at the Academy, along with the other students
2. Deck claim:
You and the other students all claim a structure deck, and choose whether or not to a pack of cards as well.
3. Placement Duels:
You are assigned to duel another student, and will have your skill level assessed through this.
4. Dorm and room assignment:
You've been assigned a dorm and room, and have had the time to unload your luggage and get settled in.
5. The first classes:
Your first ever classes in the academy. They introduce you to how the place works, and show you a few tricks.
6. Invasion:
Four mysterious people had suddenly appeared in front of some students, and no doubt there were others as well. After a bit of chaos, they warned some of the students about a mysterious group and impending dangers before disappearing.
7. Tag Duels!:
Transformer, the Standard Dueling Teacher, decided to have a Tag Duel lesson. Students get to work together for the first time!
8. Dark Dorm!:
The Dark Dorm students are causing trouble for the general student body.
9. Contests!:
Transformer announced various non-dueling competitions for the students to participate in.
10. Parasites?!:
Ethel faced a mysterious Turbo Duelist and lost horribly! They stole the progam for a new Speed World - Virtua!
