Boku no Hero Academia

Premise

Imagine a world where superpowers were the norm. A world where everyo- or almost everyone is born super. These superpowers are known as Quirks and 80% of the world's population possesses a Quirk. Most of these Quirks tend to be mundane but there are those born with great power. And among those who wield great power, there are some who tend to abuse it.

Yuuei is the #1 ranked High School in Japan for heroics and is considered as the top Hero Academy in the world. Here, students are trained to become professional superheroes; people that maintain the peace by battling against those who use their Quirks for heinous crimes. Students are separated into specific Departments and Classes - A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J and K. You have recently enrolled and been selected as the cream of the crop, in short, you're Class A material. What sort of adventures await you?

What To Expect

Though I say we've all been selected, we will be starting during the enrollment examination so everyone has an opportunity to show off their Quirks. We will be using the canon setting for convenient's sake (locations and logic) but our plot will not necessarily head into the same direction. This is an AU roleplay. No knowledge of the manga is necessary as we're only using the setting.

This will more or less by a school superhero RP but there will be plenty opportunities to venture out into the world to deal with actual villains. There is no fixed genre here, feel free to go down the romance or drama route. Also, I will be implementing a group system as this is intended to be a large RP. I've had far too much experience with progress halting down because a sole person in a say a group of 10 decides to vanish into thin air. So characters will be assigned to smaller groups but overall still interact with everyone in larger events.

Once we get some interest, I'll do up an OOC and CS skeleton. Anyone have any questions??

Depends on if you think Toonforce is OK or not.

Also might wanna move it away from Japan, depending on how much you wanna use the japanese angle. 12 hours a day, 6 days a week work schedules really don't do well. And then that phoenix wright legal system... oy. >.<

Yeah, but most anime actually take place in LA/San Fran with Japanese architecture. Well, unless they want to push the parents out of the way or are doing feudal japan.

My worry is those work hours basically mean there wont be all that many NPCs since they'll be at work 90% of the time, which means less bad guys or anything like that.

@Archmage MCI'd like to know what anime/manga you've been watching/reading...most, that I know of, take place in Japan. Obviously with some cultural differences because not everything you see is as it is in real life. Which definitely isn't limited to anime. Turn on your television and flip through the dramas, every high school student in America is played by overly glamorized adults with a serious sex drive for god sake. Even the nerds look like the hit the gym 6 days a week. There are some anime outside of Japan (that are not in their own world), but even then most of those are actually in Europe with a handful that I can name in America. Point is: Whether it be anime or your favorite sitcom neither is meant to be a 100% accurate portrayal of real life

In regard to work schedules... What do you think we're playing? We will be high school students, going on wild adventures and surely saving the city (or world) from impending doom. Tell me where you're going to find the time to have a job

@Inkd Bull Its more the fact that there wont be many civvies on the streets so the background will be pretty empty in a city setting. Its not like the Avengers where New Yorkers are everywhere, and thats sort of my worry there.

@Archmage MC I just want to point out that this is an rp where people have super powers, I think we can bend realism a little bit and make it so we can interact with more people then we normally would in Japan at that time.

... the average amount of hours worked per average Japanese worker is actually lesser than that of the United States. And although it is common for those work hours you mentioned to occur in city areas like Tokyo, those areas actually have extremely dense populations so there are still plenty of people around during work hours.

Buuuuut, like everyone said, I wouldn't worry too much about the realism factor!!

@Weird TalesI'm going to stick to a 1 power per character rule though unless there's a very good reason to do otherwise. You can have a power do multiple things, for example, possess the ability of a frog to have the ability for fast swimming, jumping, secreting poison or a long tongue but definitely not a combination of flight, super strength and laser beams from your eyes.

Gonna head to school to do some quick stuff, OOC will be up in a few hours.
