Mars, the red world. Settled in the twenty first century as the population of Earth increased as did the population of Mars. Eventually the noted Lorne Corporation perfected terraforming technology in the early twenty second century, humanity on Mars no longer had to live in a dome. They were truly free. Since then the Martian Cities have grown exponentially as Earth has become increasingly overpopulated, with Earths ruling body - The United Nations offering incentives for the working class to move to the Lunar and Martian Colonies where jobs are plentiful. However unrest began to grow due to the distance between Earth and Mars, why should the United Nations get to make decisions that affected the masses on Mars?

Then on the eve of the twenty third century the entire population of Mars felt an unexplainable seismic event rock the entire planet. The event was still being investigated one month later when, without reason, people all over the planet began exhibiting strange, unique and superhuman abilities. The Planetary Defense Force immediately began cracking down on these individuals, and this is where we begin...

Essentially this is set in the early 2200s, on Mars. I'll throw up additional information on topography of cities/technology etc when we move to an OOC. Though I'm going to give an element of freedom in this, as I only have a couple of rules in regards to technology in this era. Also while there will be a plot going on, there'll also be an element of free-roam to let people explore the setting and their characters. I'm not going to force people together all the time.

If you think this is short, that is because it's an interest check, I feel IntChks need to be short and too the point.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

I'll put my interest down. So how do the powers work exactly? You're projected limits and such.

Limits are essentially I'm going to heavily constrict spatial/temporal abilities (Such as time manipulation, teleportation). Shape-shifting or body manipulation will also depend on how it's done.

So basically no Time-Space warping? I can work with that.

Yeah. I can maybe go for a teleporter but only one, and we'll see what happens.

We just need a little more interest (I have an IntChk in the General Section) and I can probably get to work on fleshing stuff out for an OOC.

@Sep

The only questions I have at this point involve the specifics of the martian culture, economic conditions and the like. But I can wait until the OOC is up, since those questions will more than likely be answered there.

@El Noche If it helps you with your sheet, the Martian people will largely be middle/working class. Towards the central districts of the cities where the company representatives liaise with Earth is where you'll find all the riches. There is a touch of resentment by the working class that all laws/legislation passed are passed by people within a parliament on Earth.

In terms of specific culture, like most migrant colonies it's a boiling pot of different of people from all kinds of backgrounds and cultures with no clear culture coming out on top. There is a slight uneasiness between Martian Born and Earth Borns however, as Earth Borns seem to get specialist treatment.

I'll go into more detail when I hash out the OOC. It'll likely also be more legible then as I'm starting to get tired :L

Time for a revolution of the working-class Martians. Red Planet, indeed.

Already have a good theme for the bomb-throwing anarchists among us.

@Dead Cruiser that will be up to you! Obviously if thats a route you want to establish I'll give you help/hindrance as necessary.

Though there will be a plot to HOW these powers came to be for anyone who wants to go down the rabbit hole.

So long as you're not lifting buildings I don't have a problem. Limitations should always be present, even my characters will have weaknesses and limitations! It's a sad day :P

Really tempting to use a bunch of Mechanicus stuff for the Martian Republican Army (which I have just coined, naturally).

Slow down there son :L They're not in revolution quite yet. They're at the stage of protests (if anything), wait to see how the RP pans out first :P

Nice to see you enthusiastic though! OOC will definitely go up tomorrow.

Bo-ring!! I'm already writing impassioned demagoguery and drawing up banners. Really easy symbolism abound, here, given that basically every classical culture on Earth associated Mars with war, iron and fire.

You are free to try and ignite a revolution should you see fit, but right at the start of the Roleplay there won't be an actual war going on. As there's a difference between people wanting to protest, and people wanting war.

Given the life-expectancy for the average roleplay, forgive me if I don't think we'll actually get to that point. As well, try and tell me that "looming violent revolution" doesn't sound more dynamic than "moderate civil unrest."

So long as you want us to get to that point, we'll get to that point. Take it to PM, I'm willing to give it some leeway with discussion.
