There's a reason why this wasn't a surprise round.

Quick mind map for you guys to give you some sort of idea what's around you guys.

The red lines indicate the dividing line between the road and forestry.

The arrows represent us, and the three in front the enemy (bandit leader is in the middle of course).

The initiatives has been updated as well. Please note that the Initiative will be your posting order in terms of carrying out your turn. Other NPCs that are not yours I will control. Be mindful that since we are doing a dice system, an auto hit will be forced on you should it connects.

You are NOT required to wait for the result of the previous person's dice roll if you are the next person to post. I will take note and give you the results on the next NPC post.
A turn consists of:

1 Action + 1 Bonus Action
Movement Action
1 Weapon Interaction
You may also do ability checks once per turn (some ability checks will be disadvantaged in battle)

I do not mean to be difficult but Sionnie intentionally does not use a bow hence, she could not fire and arrow... it would more likely be a thrown dagger and i am a rogue, rogues are supposed to go for the insta-kill. That is why i play them. i meant to assassinate him, or something of the sort due to the fact i am not a level three rogue.. I don't know, it just seems out of place for Sionnie. We have two perfectly good archers, Sionnie was meant to be a close quarters assassin.

I also chose to focus on my acrobatics and stealth to give me a strong dodge, hide, sneak, speed, and mobility bonus.. i know we are level one but i assume the mobs are two so why is it that i can not get close with two archers to cover me and an illusionist to draw off the attention? I understand if i can not get close.. but at least let me throw a dagger through the back of the bandit's head.. then at least i achieve the same result as planned and i kill him.

It all comes down to the roll of the dice, and your positioning and limitations. You must work with it. You have items at your disposal at which allows you to deal high damage at both a distance and melee. If you're referring to DnD as the DDO version, then this will be a completely different experience as everything is detailed, systematic and followed en pointe. Your damage is based on weaponry and your defence is based on your armor class. No matter how good your acrobatics, athletics is, it is used in ability checks and does not directly impact combat.

Every weapon has its stats. One slightly better or worse than another. They also have their effective range and maximum (with disadvantage) range. I have chosen the best possible course you could've taken in this situation as you are unable to move in behind the Bandit Leader (with his two guards beside him) and deliver a melee attack. The best you could've done was get in his face using Dash an action and you won't be able to attack. From that position, you would also be rained with bolts and impaled in more than one orifice by the bandits.

now this is more like it! Ok, so, hypothetically, would shouting to everyone about the two crossbow bandits be an entire action? Would I even be able to in time since I'm last in order?

Shouting is not an action. the other guys will need to make a Perception check to see if they can hear you and then perception check again (with advantage) to spot the crossbowmen.

Oh, also if you shout now it would be fine as it doesnt take much to yell. I will count that as what happens after you spotted them.

ok, great, can you put a note in to that effect at the start of the round so we possibly get some advantage all up in here?

And one more... series of questions: does a turn have to be taken in the order you outlined? Or could I do the weapon action first (though I guess it wouldn't necessarily make a difference too often)? And if I have an action and a bonus action, could I do two more perception checks to try and work out where the last few bandits are?

It would be ideal if you took it the way the Initiative has been ordered. This is to prevent your action becoming cancelled out because the last action killed the bandit or whatever.

As for the perception checks, you will be allowed to do one check. However at this stage it isn't necessary.

There is Hunter's Mark which you can use to increase your damage to the marked target by 1d6. Costs a Level 1 Spellslot to use and you can use a Bonus Action to move the mark to a new target. Should the target manage to escape or you allow them to escape, you know its location for 8 hours.
