"I know she is, Rockmar. Well, at least most of it is." Felmer exasperatedly speaks on, "She was probably just a great warrior but people put a lot of weight into their heroes. Beacom has be-..." The man sharply looked over his shoulder at the large Chapel door. He thought back to the day when the famine had struck, the day the Priest had pleaded for help. Felmer had brought the supplies here in order for them to be properly rationed, but a design caught his eye that day. A design that he hadn't recognised till he saw a certain painting. The merchants eyes widened at his own inept memory.

Turning a fake smiling face back towards the adventurers. "Actually, I, uh, hehe, silly me. Must've dropped my medallion in their somewhere. You lot will have to go on without me." Felmer backed towards the door whilst waving his hands in a craven manner. The secular man re-entered Justicia's house of worship and headed towards the priests quarters hoping Beacom was already asleep.

Cedric nodded to Rockmar's suggestion that they return to the caves in the morning. "Yeah, I could use a few hours of sleep too. At least the beast shouldn't be back tonight."

"Alright," he said to Felmer, not paying enough attention to the man to catch the slightly strange behavior.

--

As Felmer approaches the small door that leads to Father Beacom's private chamber, he would see the light of a candle flickering under the door...

When Father Beacom returned to his chamber, he set his candle on the nightstand and sat down heavily on the bed. He stayed there for a few moments, contemplating the visitors that he had just had before rising again and walking over to a bookshelf that contained his small library. It also contained a finely crafted chest, decorated with silver and gold. He opened the chest so that he could gaze upon the spiked head of a war hammer laid upon a pillow of velvet within. It's shaft was long since gone, but the unmistakeable scales of justice had been inscribed upon the side. The thought of it in the hands of such that held no regard for the goddess was almost unthinkable!

After a few moments, he closed the lid again and locked the beautiful box, then carefully slid the key back into its hiding spot. With a sigh, he climbed back into bed and blew out the candle.

Tarquin just shook his head slightly and continued pacing back and forth again. He noticed that there was something a bit off about Felmer's actions, but chose to ignore it for now. Instead he focused his attention on Rockmar. "She may be full of crap, but at least she has enough followers to create holy water. That's enough for me to believe she's as real as the Queen or the Lady of the Dance."

Felmer placed his ear against the door to Beacoms private quarters and listened intently, hearing the sound of a squeaking chest as it was manipulated; then jumped at the candle being blown out. Leaning against the wall Felmer waited for a long while before shakily pushing against the door and stopping momentarily at the groan of the door. After 30 minutes of starting and stopping the merchant finally entered the room. He loomed over the sleeping pious man before looking around and saw a chest out of place on the bookshelf. Aha, that's not going to hold literature. I doubt it's unlocked and the key is not going to be easily found.

Father Beacom stirred slightly when the door hinges groaned, but then his breathing slowed again, accompanied by an occasional soft snore.

Jason held his sword tight in hand. He motioned for Sara to stay still. The construct began climbing up the ledge to see what it was. Jason made it out of metal after all. It could take harder hits than Jason could.

Tarquin paced back and forth outside the chapel and occasionally mumbled something to himself. After a while he began heading back towards the large building they had dined with the constable in.

@BKburke Above the ledge the construct finds a crawl space, about 3' tall and wide. It goes back only a few feet before turning to the west.

@Severe Triage As Felmer crossed the room to the bookcase, Father Beacom remained still and his breath remained constant. The bookcase was almost completely filled with books that had been neatly arranged so that their spines aligned... except for one tome that was slightly askew. A hand scrawled title read "Recipes from Pineford Abbey".

@BKburke

The ceiling of the tunnel is made of the same twigs and sticks that were seen on the floor of the chamber. There is a layer of dust on the floor that gets heavier the further the construct goes, but also obvious tracks through the dust, as if someone crawled out of the tunnel earlier. After turning to the right, the tunnel continues straight for 30' before turning right again (north). Immediately after that turn, there is an opening in the ceiling of the crawlspace leading upwards. Straight ahead, the tunnel is blocked by a recent cave-in.

Felmer reached out incredibly slowly towards the clearly conspicuous book but his hand stopped short as a flash of a thought flew through his mind, Could this be a decoy? Quickly turning to look at the defenceless man asleep two feet away and narrowed his eyes. What are you hiding, Father? Felmer knew that this was his only option so grasping the book firmly, Felmer inched out slowly but steadily until the surprisingly large recipe book was in his hands. The merchant opened the book and sighed realising his recklessness, he gasped; which also didn't help. Grabbing his mouth he refused to look at the priest, and ironically, hoping to God that he didn't wake up.

The priest rolled over at the small noise, but seemed to not completely awaken and his breathing returned to normal a few moments later. As Felmer opens the book, it flips naturally to a page where something has been placed between the pages: a small key.

Tarquin returned to the large building they had spent the night and made his way inside. He took out his flute and began playing a very catchy tune - mostly to calm himself down and maybe to make a few coins to boot. Still it was very obvious from the way he moved that something bothered him to no end.

Avary was sitting on the island he was marooned on, then he heard some flute music, @Marcus XVI, and he decided to check it out. He looked through some bushes, and saw a camp of people! He decided to wait and see if they were good.
