After reading through this whole argument I still don't see why Blythe's mad muscles are that big of a deal. When the Beardforce can close that gap in a poorly written sentence then it isn't that big of a deal. It's what else she can do with those powers that makes her dangerous. Otherwise she's just forcing a skill match.

It's okay.... I'm going to make a new sheet with completely defined abilities.

Melon, he will need a job in your bar though probably as a cook. Don't worry he has all the right spices! And he cooks good noodles.

Ultimate Muscle – Blythe has no size limit, suggesting she in turn never runs out of tissue mass, one can logically infer this means she can regenerate almost limitlessly. This also allows her to increase her strength –without limit- Verdict: Possible limitless regeneration and limitless strength, both god-like abilities, T9/10

Phenomenal Cosmic Power: Blythe has limitless endurance and immunity to diseases (and afflictions, whatever that means, presumably another form of blanket immunity.) Blanket immunity is banned in Arena (except in very special circumstances where immunity is granted by logic alone, such as a robot having no blood and therefore being immune to poisons.) Verdict: Limitless Endurance, Blanket Immunities, both godlike abilities in this context T9/10

Dem Bones: Blythe has ‘nigh unbreakable’ (so what, nearly invulnerable bones she can also protrude from her body as weapons or defences?) bones and more blanket immunities. Verdict: Super bone armour and weapons, nigh unbreakable wording is ambiguous, T9 powers.

Melty Blood: Super flexible blood, instant regeneration powers by consuming other blood, immunity to disease, poison and exsanguination. Verdict, T8, just on the cusp.

Outrage: Psionic defence (because Blythe obviously needs to cut off another entire method of attacking her other than physical force.) Vague notions of speed and strength being equivalent, no statistical limitations in sight. Super-dashes with no implications of having a cooldown, so essentially the ability to move faster than the human eye can see albeit in a jerky fashion. More strength without limit. Verdict: Potentially looking at Mach speed, who knows. Strength is limitless again. Some vague stuff about super shockwaves, who the hell knows any more. Verdict: T9, potentially T10, as any limitless ability is by necessity godlike.

At the moment, there's a serious issue with scope in some of the wording in Blythe's power-set. For example, you said that she can actually only run at about 100mph, but no-where does the sheet suggest that. There is also no particularly reason why she can't just use her dash ability constantly to maintain insane speed, because you don't mention any limitations. It's things like this that are causing issues for LeeRoy in judging if your character is fit for this setting. (For the record, T8 is the highest character tier level allowed in this setting, anything over that is just too powerful.)

Understandable. I've been rp'ing with Corban since 2000, but forum records only exist back to 03. So a stupidly long time.

As for my history with Shin-Ra, Corban has never fought sephiroth ( as in a sephiroth rp'er) or met him, but for a while there was a fierce rivalry between Corban and one Sephire Fusion (played by some other guy way back when on the Yuku forums), who was essentially fused with Seph's essence on a lesser or greater scale for whatever reason. So Corban knows of him, SOLDIER, and essentially Mako history altogether. Several times Corban has aided the -what your characters would know as the 'old' Shinra- on various missions IC. Other times they're trying to kill each other.

They are, politically, frienemies.

@MelonHeadGood lord.

If my sheet isn't accepted, it's not accepted, the one who's really taking the enjoyment out of this for me isn't LeeRoy, but you, and your endless butthurt over a character you won't even be dealing with. LeeRoy's already taken my sheet under advisement without your endless arguments, and as far as I was concerned, that should've been the end of it.

I've already stated if I need to bring Blythe's baseline down, I will. If she's rejected, I have plenty of other characters to submit.

I've already explained what I'm doing, but I'll reiterate.

LeeRoy is incredibly busy, I'm pointing out very obvious issues (in regards to how this site runs, we do things differently, that's just how things work) to save time. All of those issues I've raised have already been raised by LeeRoy, and you didn't answer them, but you did start critiquing LeeRoy's judgement for letting Corban in. At that point it looked a hell of a lot like you throwing shade and generally causing trouble, which is why I cut down your point quite succinctly by pointing out the vast differences between Blythe, Alex, and Corban, you then replied, I rebuked your rebuke, now we're here. If you were happy to wait for LeeRoy's judgement, why were you questioning his judgement for letting Corban in?

Still, it's clear that I've upset you while trying to help, which pretty neatly sums up the story of my life, so I will depart with an apology and hope everything works out. History has taught me it never does, but I'm ever hopeful.

Your character is pretty goddamn OP, what with the whole immediately killing anything he touches, "amplifying his force", and having unlimited energy. (He totally does, don't even try and deny it at this point.) He's got the ability to shoot lasers, accompanied with a list 2 miles long. And to top it off, ridiculous strength whenever he touches a character. (Which with super speed and ridiculous speed, he always does. Surprise.)

I remember that post from the old arena. Dragqueen got real mad at you. He joined the RP since he was my friend, but he got mad once he realized that he wasn't in the same weight class as you and I. Love Drag to death, but he got real salty real fast. He got salty at both you and @GreivousKhan for no good reason.

Good times.

I think the old Arena was literally cursed, because that was countless hours of arguments.

It was literally the human condition in its most bared form.

But anyway.

@Negatomsk
While I CAN TECHNICALLY accept Blythe. Because I understand how she works, and I do understand that I can trust you to not abuse it. What I can't accept is that it's literally a caveat. Her rule is that she's always stronger or faster and just all around physically superior to the person she's fighting, which leads to some really intense debate. Since it's always imbalanced in a fight that doesn't involve some sort of ranged combat.

This is a caveat, a proviso that makes her "not OP."

Unfortunately, because she needs one in this particular setting, it IS OP. Dunnaman could fight her, he's armed and has decent range and speed for a high tier.

Liu? He couldn't fight her. It wouldn't even be considered a fight, she'd pop his head like a grape.

I love high tier combat, it's my specialty. I enjoy writing a bit of realistic insane combat because I love tearing apart cities with my characters. It's more fun than I can aptly describe.

But regulating them is a chore, if they aren't properly limited. I'd be okay with her being exclusively high tiered, but as she's balanced, she starts off intermediate and quickly accelerates into high tier as the fight drags on.

Since a good number of characters are punchy guys who like punching stuff, she's unbeatable to anyone who isn't going to tear her apart like Ronda Rousey was.

@Enki
Melon's right though, I gave reasons why Corban is acceptable and why Alex and Blythe aren't.

Blythe because she's not intrinsically broken, her damage potential is. If you play league of legends, she's like Nasus. If Nasus gets too many stacks, he's unstoppable.

Alex is intrinsically broken in the regards that we have no actually gauge on his power level.

Edit: This is why I don't comment much anymore. Any time that I show up and actually speak, everyone just miraculously goes offline simultaneously.

While I do appreciate all these extra powers you and Melon have given her, I'll grant you that she is incredibly difficult for most to fight. Once again, the rule was actually that within the confines of a combat setting, Blythe could only ever hope to equal an opponent in strength, never surpass, which only ever applied to her power (lifting and striking) and durability, not her speed, and that any permanent increases would have to be made Saiyan-style, in storyline training sessions. Still, amusing to know she'd be unto a god here, as currently written. I'll submit another profile later.

I never once added anything to the sheet, I read exactly what was written.

But neither did I say that it was intrinsically broken.

In fact.

I said the exact opposite.

The powers themselves are good, I just need an upper limit. Because she totally dunks on the concept of upscaling your fights.

What am I talking about?

I made this rule of engagement.

If you are a lower tiered character, you can fight a higher tier character with a teammate.

Well.

The big fucking problem with her particular powerset is that her base strength already trumps most mid tiers and most upper mid tiers.

If she fights multiple mid tiers, she's automatically equally as good as the pair of them combined. To put the icing on the cake?

She can become stronger, faster, and more durable than them in an instant. Why? Her burst mode.

Burst modes are okay in a setting where they are common. They also generally have drawbacks, the best of them generally kill them.

Fury's burst mode eats himself.

Kanitah's puts too much strain on his heart. (Though this isn't listed, after a dozen turns his heart stops.)

But Blythe's doesn't have that, and that too is a problem.

I know I'm gradually picking your sheets apart, both Blythe and Alex, but I'm not trying to be rude. I'm trying to be fair to the other players. Just because your group is okay with this tier, but I know for a fact the majority of the standing community avoids it like the plague.

I love high tier, and I'd fight literally any one of your characters in a slugfest with my high tier characters any day of the week. But this isn't just MY roleplay. This is OUR roleplay.

As I already said, I'll submit someone else. I already chopped her profile to hell to put her up here and I'm not about to spend even more time trying to settle on arbitrary limits to her powers. I can set a baseline but the nature of her ability is to equalize literally anyone, and as you said, that power is fine, but not for this setting.

I get that, I HAVE that kind of character. His name is Might. Here's his sheet.

But there's one distinct difference.

Might gets weaker against weak opponents.

Blythe doesn't.

Blythe's baseline is higher than most mid tiers, if you had to chop her down to make her fit for this particular setting I'm loathe to wonder what her actual ability IS. Honestly, I'm not being a dick here am I?

The powerset isn't broken in and of itself, it's just that the rules of engagement that are laid down for EVERYONE, are totally defied by this particular powerset. It's an unfortunate side effect of trying to make a system that includes everyone.

Because you can't.

Because it's impossible to create a setting where everything is fair and just.

I like Blythe, I really do, but without an upper and lower limit to her abilities. She's broken in this setting.

I'm sorry if this comes off as rude, but to be honest you're being rude too.

@LeeRoyI'm more than happy to lower her baseline, but as you said, the upper limit is the problem. She actually has a pretty hilariously weak-sauce and common weakness that I avoided listing for fear of the meta-gaming that would come with it.

And I wasn't being rude at all, I was conceding your point that she doesn't fit here for the rules set, so I'll submit something else, that was all.

Drag was right but also so wrong. Fury is Overpowered, but it's not like I've ever disguised that fact. Plus he completely earned his character getting pulverized, I realised immediately he was too weak and had Fury fly away (as he's like to do anyway.) and for some reason he followed Fury, then finally realised he was outclassed and started complaining. He literally chased him into another dimension without once thinking 'can I actually beat this guy?'
