Because they were writing at the same time and I didn't know it. So when I asked Joseph a question I told him I posted and joined them so it all made sense.@Acromantula

@Aintitfun1997 Ummm... Suggestion though it is up for debate keep in mind. Your character could be walking the roads when Haru or Clara sees her.

@Acromantulathat.....doesn't make sense. It would only be a rp with in an rp if the characters themselves were role playing as other characters. Like the rpception bit though. :)

@Aerandir@Wick Collaborating on posts essentially blocks other characters from interacting with any characters involved until they get out of their little instance. Hence, an RP within an RP.

Not to mention, it's really jarring and fucks with pacing a lot a little. It also kills suspense, and for some people, they're just plain not fun to read through. Why role-play with a group if you're just going to pull people aside to circle jerk do their own thing from time to time while they're clearly with a whole group of people IC? It just seems utterly pointless and jarring for literally no practical reason at all.

@tex Yet if you think about it collabs are easier for those whom are writing inside one to take their time. Essencally not truly holding up the RPG just to think of a response which would be placed somewhere away from the other person's post. Plus it gives others time to catch up on the reading as well as continue with RL. Though this is just my opinion keep in mind. That is why I like doing collabs with others cause lately I seem to be getting write's block more frequently. Though with others it seems to be such a bother. Which I'm not being judge mental about as much as it may sound like I am.

Roleplay- "the acting out or performance of a particular role, either consciously (as a technique in psychotherapy or training) or unconsciously, in accordance with the perceived expectations of society with regard to a person's behavior in a particular context."

For a person complaining on things NOT moving along in the rp, I'm a little surprised at your last few passive aggressive posts. Our post could have taken maybe (guess-ta-mating) five to fifteen minutes of RP time. In an exchange that would have NORMALLY taken at the rate of this posting two to three days of waiting to get back into the house, and Shortened it to about two hours of waiting time and moving the rp along. So there is a practical reason to use it, and not pointless. violentviolet is waiting for us to get it to night so she can move HER character along as well.

Also...even if they are with a group of people, they left the building. Thus the whole group wasn't together, which does happen in REAL life. Do you expect us to be in the same room with everyone the entire rp? When you have 10 people or more all trying to say something? It gets a little hectic and people don't interact with everyone and others feel left out because their post was ignored, it's quite impossible to do with out this happening. So it is essential to pull a group off once and a while for character development with other certain characters.

Ehm...

Would you look at that.

A roleplay(Noun) is something in which you roleplay(Verb). You may want to remember that nouns and verbs aren't the same thing the next time somebody makes a humorous comment about a role play inside of a role play. The phrase itself can be construed in multiple ways. In this case, it emphasizes the redundancy of collaborating (An activity which involves role-playing together in order to create a post) in an environment where people are role playing as individuals. Apologies if English isn't your native language, but the way a word can be used and understood, (Especially in comedy) can vary quite a bit.

Passive aggressive posts? what are you talking about? And how do my posts in the OOC have ANY impact on the IC at all? Hint hint: They don't.

See but like, here's the thing. You were ALL online during that period of time, long enough to make 1-2 posts each, in the time span provided. It's not even comparable to 2-3 days, and I'm not sure where you're getting those figures from (Your ass?). If collaboration inspires people to put more time and dedication into the RP, then I can understand, somewhat. That much makes sense. But don't go claiming nonsense like 'it saves time, simply by condensing posts together' because in reality, assuming every poster spent that time making posts in succession in the thread, one after another, there would be little to no difference in progress. Even better, more posts gives more opportunity for actual character interaction/development. It also doesn't fuck with the pacing.

For example, the reveal that Ethan was a father? It just came out of nowhere, with no time for anyone to interject, or contribute. It's like they were all just standing there, idle, unable to really do anything in the time-prison that was 'Babies R us: Las vegas Reverence'.

Even if it did take forever, maybe people should just be patient? This is a forum, not a skype chat. There are hundreds of roleplays all moving at a relatively slow pace. Hell, my role play moved very slowly for quite a while because of a few problem posters. Know how we fixed that? We got rid of them, or they left.

But I guess I'm just a little ruthless when it comes to GMing. It's pretty effective though.

The excuse "I didn't have time to post" Is, and will always be an outright lie. There's a difference between not having time, and not having the drive/energy to take 10-30 minutes out of your day for a role play that you should probably be enjoying.

They left the building... IN THE COLLAB POST. Prior to it, they were still feasibly within interaction range of everyone else in the building. collabs are a lot less bothersome when it's with two people who aren't near everyone else, and not so obstructive, but they still stand out as giant, swollen boils in a thread where nearly every other post is its own entity from everything else.

As far as I'm concerned, things only get confusing when people ignore others who are clearly addressing everyone in range. It's already happened a few times (Surprise surprise) and I don't doubt that it will continue happening, regardless of whether or not there are collabs or not. It isn't essential to pull groups apart at all, but I don't disagree that it's a good idea. It just doesn't infer the need for collaborations.

At any rate, I don't care that much if people are collaborating, but I stand by the opinion that collabs are obtrusive, not very inclusive, and ugly to look at. It's not like I'm asking you to stop.

If my opinion gets you a lil' butt hurt, I could keep it to myself, if you'd prefer. But don't take your butt-hurt to the next level, and try to instigate something worse. I'm not here to get into a fight over semantics.

I do agree with Tex. Having giant collab posts are a bother to read and it's basically just 1x1s within the RP. I believe that they shouldn't be done in order to have more interaction between characters instead of just having a group of characters interacting. If they have to be done, then they should be done fairly rarely.

I'm the butt hurt one? It seems to me you are.

Though i must say I guess a mated (which yes I would mean I pulled it from my ass) of that offended you I'm so sorry.

I really don't know why this is an issue, and I knew bringing it up with you will cause butt hurt to happen (surpise) so I'm going to toss it up to agree to disagree.

Because you know i don't have time. to debate this with you. Because I really don't have time and don't really care about the issue as some people do.

Edit :@acromantula oh I didn't, hence the smiley face at the end. :)

We collab posted the reveal of Ethan being a father because we didn't want any interruption between them for that particular moment. Since joseph and I are in different time zones it made more sense to collab a post then try to have the moment in between 6 to 8 other posts, which would detract from the moment. I do not normally collab post, but this time I felt it was needed to preserve what we were trying to accomplish between our two characters. It's not hard for you to make a reaction post after the fact. I posted in the OOC that Ethan was the father and that he and Kat were going to have a dramatic reunion days ago, plenty of time for people to work out how their characters were going to react, so I don't understand how the reveal "came out of nowhere".

And some people do not have time. Myself included. I have worked 14 hr shifts for the past three days, stealing moments between work, eating and sleeping to post what little I can and it is hard. I hate it because I can't post the way I want but do not want to hold up the rp for others. In the time I have taken to post this I am going to have to skip breakfast in order to make it to work on time. Quality posts take more then "10 minutes" to do because when you care about the quality of something it takes time to process, create, edit (sometimes multiple times) in order to get a post you feel good about posting for others.

All of these veiled and not so veiled insults flying back and forth is very disheartening. I do not enjoy conflict and would like to request it stop. Please.

Hooray for long winded and pointless arguments! Note: ALL OF THE SARCASM

I don't mind collaborative posting if it actually has a point, but when almost every post is one, it just turns into a bunch of 1x1's. Kat and Ethan's reactions in one point made sense. The NPC characters in SC group also made sense. So until y'all are done arguing you can take it to PM because nobody else actually cares or wants to see it.

I'm pretty sure people just want more interaction between characters and not have to read books for posts.
