Blackbeard But why is the rum gone?

Member Seen 8 yrs ago

Whilst the voting for which CS wins would be somewhat rare (it would only occur when we get multiple CS' for a Captain/power) I can see that people aren't overly keen, maybe it would just be an needless feature? For now I'll say that the voting idea is out and we shall stick to the GM/Co-GM judging process.

@malmshodes I'll try to provide a CS skeleton in the new Int.Check that I'm posting tomorrow. It will be a little different than most skeletons but I would be fine with people reformatting or rearranging it as well as simply turning in a regular CS if the one I provide is a little uncomfortable for them.
In fact if nobody likes it I'll just replace it with a normal one.

I've written a rule in my OOC about posting standards, I haven't yet included any clauses about when inactive people will be culled but I might.

Nope. I'm perfectly happy with your CS. Just wanted to make sure :)

@Blackbeard

I see no problems. I think it would be best to keep the vote for GM/CoGM only.

I'd love to get back into a Bleach RP, have done some in the past. I both have Espada and Gotei 13 characters (14 in total) so it shouldnt be a problem playing eiter for me

or their character gets killed off

Change that to "their character is put out of focus" and I guess I'll agree to the rest.

Anyways, I said I was going to be lame and draw up my character so... Here she is I guess. Whee~

I have to agree on the "kill off" part.

... I mean, even if getting rid of a character seems like a good idea, there's not such a high rate of fatal turnover that you could really explain 'and then this person is dead off-screen against nothing that they should be horribly threatened by'.

Plus people can be left without internet or what-have-you for some time, so removing them from the RP irrevocably seems a dick move.

First off, sorry if this comes out bad. I already took my melatonin and its gotten me very drowsy. t.t

The first part is easy, you just kill the character on screen. I'm assuming most of this rp is going to revolve around fighting, and various types of action anyways so if a player holds up the action then killing off their character would be the simplest thing.

As for being left without internet, that's technically possible, but that's why I put this part:
...It's not an iron rule like if someone can't post for a legitimate reason and they let one of the GMs know before the time limit, something will be worked out.

Same goes with them having any one of a million problems. The thing is all they have to do is message someone to say what's going on and then arrangements can be made like the GM just knocking their character out for a duration of their absence, or someone taking control of their character, and even Rin's idea could even be taken and the focus will just be moved away from them until the player comes back.

The problem though with just automatically going the whole "moving focus" route is it doesn't really solve the problem. If there's a person whose not replying that means that at least a part of the roleplay is being held up. Why keep everyone back when a player doesn't even care enough to take five minutes to send a simple message saying something like "I'll be gone for over a week because of personal issues. Please have someone...."? Then what if more people need to have focused moved away from the character? Now, you have two or three dead weights being held up by the rest of the group, when the spots could be freed up so more players can join and keep things going. Yes, I know its probably not going to be possible to do everyday, but with a seven day grace period a person has 168 hours to find three minutes to let someone know what's going on and what can be done to fix it.

Of course maybe I'm being a bit harsh because I've seen people just step out of a perfectly good rp without a word, keep replying on the site to various groups and threads(so he could've just said he quit and a week wouldn't have been wasted), and the whole thing will die just because of that.

Either way I'm definitely in. :D

Beforehand fights determined, a good way to go to make the fight more of an awesome story rather than a 'word fight'. As for the voting, hmm I think you may just want to determine who gets the role yourself so there's no hard feelings, which I see you already decided so that's good.

I think the bigger thing is assuming that if someone hasn't responded in X time, they've abandoned the roleplay and thus the character should die. Unless the posting is hyperactive, this is just going to be killing characters and needing random promotion explanations.

I guess if someone repeatedly failed to respond to mentions and quotes that they really should post it makes sense, but unless the IC is moving like lightning... a hard limit seems weird.

It's not a question of their intention, but of keeping the rp going. Yes, it does suck if something happens to someone and they really are kept away for an intermediate amount of time, but letting the rp lag causes problems for other people.

Okay, I'll give you that. I didn't think of the random promotion thing. The other rp I keep refering to is a One Piece and its easy in that one because our characters keep going to different areas so meeting new people isn't a problem, but in Bleach it is a bit different.

Either way is going to causes problems. It's all just a matter of picking your poison, I guess.

So I'll get to making that second, more detailed Int.Check right now, I'll post a link once I'm done. It shouldn't be up for that long, I imagine a couple of days afterwards before I post the OOC.

@Marrow Welcome! you have quite a few characters there, thought about becoming a Co-GM? That way we could use a number of your ideas for Espada.

@LokiLeo789 Also Welcome!

@Raineh Daze@malmshodes My rule on inactivity certainly wont be as harsh as culling people if they hold up a fight for a while. Also I would think that anyone whom wants to stay in the RP but will be inactive for a while would definitely voice themselves, if that happens and they are involved in a current scene then I'd simply ask either A: Can people wait for their return (Depending on how long they will be gone) Or B: if they would be alright with their character exiting current events till they return.
There will be no instant character kill offs, people will have more than ample chance to explain/recoup from absences.

EDIT: Here is the new Int.Check - 2.0

Sure, Co-GM sounds cool. I got ideas for the primera espada and got an Espada with six fraccion already (lost the CS but still know his 'stats' and everthing)

but I'd also like to play my Shinigami characters so its a bit of a double feeling here.

I'm up for either part, I'll let you decide who you want to be as your Co-GM

and my gotei thirteen taichou and fuku-taichou are just awesome (especially my version of Yachiru)

I could do that, however i prefer the Japanese titles, as well as the release word for my Shikai
"Bunkatsu, Hari"

And using Japanese for verbs and (non-proper) nouns makes posts unreadable for anyone that's used to... well, translations. I think rule number one (after rule zero: the GM has final authority) of roleplaying is "if you need a dictionary, you're doing it wrong". Provided that you're fluent in the language in question, of course.

... that, and there's the whole question of 'consistency'. Unless everyone does it, "I'm going to use a different language because I like it" is kinda selfish, don't you think? Just makes things harder to read. :/
