Valiant Village, Spirit’s Guild, MiddayDrat. No luck with the little ice cream cone, either. He didn’t even work here. She’d have to ask even more people to get to the guildmaster.
Oh well. It’s not like she was in a rush or anything, there wasn’t actually any dangerous outlaws moments away from entering the town and pillaging it. She could wait.
Actually, she should probably decide on which outlaw she was gonna use for her story. The wanted posters hadn’t actually said anything about just what these criminals were capable of, just how dangerous they were according to some useless star-scale. That, and the sheer volume of the reward for bringing one in. The Scizor far outstripped the other two in both categories, and his poster was fresher, too. It was possible that the Jinx and Beedrill were both caught long ago.
She decided to use the Scizor. It would be a horrible embarrassment if she’d gone babbling about how there was a dangerous criminal nearby when said dangerous criminal was in jail already. Plus, bigger reward. Can’t go wrong there.
With that, she decided on her story. The first person she’d spread it to would be this Vanillite, who was apparently new to town as well.
“Name’s Hat,” she said, “I’m not from round here. I came here looking for work,”
“Anyway, I need to see the guildmaster. I saw someone who looks a whole lot like this Scizor character on my way over here, I figured he’d want to know,” she continued, motioning to the road she’d taken into town. If you were willing to stretch your definition of “a whole lot,” then she supposed one of the many Corphish she’d seen while following the river counted.
“So long, ice cream,” Hat said, before dashing off. She had to give the appearance of urgency, or else people wouldn’t take her seriously. However, she had absolutely no idea where the guildmaster was, or even what he looked like.
Well, she’d just have to look for something that made her think ‘Spirit’. Soon after leaving the guild, she found herself looking at the river again, with the Mawile down below, speaking to a totodile for some reason. Maybe she knew what he was, at least.
Hat approached the three of them. She hadn’t expected to speak to her again so soon, but she seemed nice enough.
“Hey, uh, Mawile, I need to ask another question,” she said, speaking up behind her again.
“D’you know what the guildmaster looks like?” she asked, “He wasn’t at the guild, and I really gotta talk to him,”
