Heh, I was looking up animal group names trying to come up with something. Kaleidoscope is apparently used occasionally for butterflies. I thought it might be a long, awkward word that would fit a bunch of glass bits whirling around.

But good to know. :P Cluster it shall be. Occasionally. Or just "Holy shit!" >.>

Also, I was wondering if you were thinking of potential recognizability with Skylar being on youtube?

It's a possibility. He does have a decent size following. He posts things like his Trans journey, mental health, and other LGBT visibility videos so if anyone was interested in those things then its possible someone has seen a vid of his. He also does basic youtuber stuff as well like vlogs, challenge videos, etc.

Coolio. I like the idea of characters that might know someone but not actually know them while the other might have no idea who they are at all.

Not sure I'd go that route with Andrew, I have no idea how much time he'd spend on youtube or what he'd be looking at in general on there, stuff to think about! Janelle might have pointed him out as having a few good educational videos, but he might well never have looked at them.

I also hope you are aware that your signature is oddly hypnotizing. I think it's that eye flutter, it just drags the attention away from everything else... o.o

After changing Ellara's powers for a third (fourth?) time, I think I found a set I'm happy with and will keep me actively engaged. Personally I'm in love with the name Ellara now, I just like how it sounds.

Slowly filling her sheet out while I study for my first test of the week.

Hi ho, I'm interested as it happens.

What would your stance be on a more fantasy-styled magic character? Basically an out-and-out wizard among you. Early planning for a backstory has me ponding him being the descendant of a master sorcerer (which my character would pale in comparison to), which leads me to ask what sort of place the mystical and magical holds in this setting?

As far as his abilities go, I plan on the only magic he initially has access to being more or less psychic in nature, such things as telepathy and psychometry. His initial role would be that of a "magic detective," as he would be a private investigator by profession.

Magic definitely has its place in this world, my first draft for Ellara actually had her as a more magical character before I went the current route. Honestly as long as you make it work as a 'street-level' concept at least initially and then grow with the other players then you're good to go.

Based off your above description, I'm imagining something more along the lines of John Constantine, would that be an accurate representation of your idea?

Also @Natty, you were an original Maverick under the Titan banner, c'mon back!

Yeah, for sure something like that. Though a fair deal more incompetent. The potential is there, just not the work ethic, so to speak.

As such, he's "a second-rate sorcerer and a third-rate detective." Maybe he'd get more business if he didn't print that on his letterhead, but what can you do.

Alright cool and since you said he runs his own business how old were you thinking? My goal was to keep all the characters in the 18-25 age range so there's a chance for socialization without masks.

He'd probably be older than most. 26 or 27 if you don't mind me pushing it a bit.

Okie dokie. I'll get to work on a character sheet sometime tonight.

Faceclaims take the most of the time spent working on these, I find. I really don't have any good resources for finding them, and many just feel creepy to me, honestly. As weeaboo trash, games where I can use an anime character portrait are quite comforting, as I have a stable of images available that work for a variety of purposes.

I can't even emphasize how much I despise anime faceclaims lol.

That aside, I generally just figure out basic features I want say for Ellara 'black hair, green eyes, female' and type it into google images. Chose the first image I liked. So I really don't have any resources either, Deviantart is another site I enjoy using as well if I want someone not necessarily famous. Plus some of the artists there do face mashups for something slightly familiar and yet different looking.

Ehh, they have their places.

Incidentally, I plan on throwing a few oblique references to Lovecraft into my CS, just as a little flavoring. Nothing yuge, just snippets here and there about the guy having been born in Arkham, attending Miskatonic U, and having a "pet" baby Shoggoth.

I think and this might have changed but Hollow Art had a pretty good search engine for faces. You then have to google search the names you come up with but it's a good fast reference. Also, if you're still looking when I get to a computer, a friend once linked me to a face claim collective I should have bookmarked. :)

I think our characters might have an interesting mesh of brains and brawn. Perhaps if triple-a and 'merlin' met up at a fire at historical mansion. He's trying to figure out how the fire started and the other is trying to figure out what started the fire.

Well, Esther's sheet is almost done, but I've hit a snag with her backstory. It's not that I don't know what to make, though; it's that I don't have anything to make it interesting. At the moment, it's basically just "daughter of two Iranian immigrants, grew up in New York all her life, currently a college student studying anthropology." Though I could do something about cultural differences between her and her parents, since she's naturalized and they're not (not as much, anyway), or the current prejudice against Muslims in the U.S... I dunno. I guess I'm just trying to bounce ideas off of y'all and see what sticks.

@Tojin Well there was talk about one of the Characters being a Youtuber and talking about trans and LGBTQ rights and all that, so adding on some Muslim issues to the story would be really cool. Differing characters and how they deal with these topics while being together. Goes along with current comic productions going into such topics and more.

I agree. I mean, I do think "daughter of two Iranian immigrants, grew up in New York all her life, currently a college student studying anthropology" is plenty interesting on its own. There's nothing wrong with simple and straightforward. Also, anthropology is fun. :P

I do think that introducing parent/daughter cultural differences and incorporating some of the current prejudices would definitely add onto that foundation though. It seems likely that even if you don't want to make it differences on the Iranian cultural front, it could still very easily be generational culture. And it's always good to include the personal effects of a global issue when it's something that would have an impact, more or less, on all the characters involved. It could definitely add further dynamics to character interactions during downtime.

So, go for it if you want. :)
