So yeah, I'll go over all this stuff again.
There are two types of objects that can do magical stuff by forcibly sucking out mana from their user: magitech and magical artifacts. Now, Magitech is less efficient in mana usage compared to magical artifacts, and all magitech are equal only to a 'Principality-level magical artifact. That means that each single magitech object can only have one spell/use. If you then make that single use something like a manipulation spell, the usage would be very basic, and always weaker than a specific spell.
Going off Skype-Anderiel...
[7:39:12 PM] Anderiel: A fire spell can give the fire the force of an 18 wheeler.
[7:39:13 PM] Ashifili: not creation or magnification?
[7:39:16 PM] Anderiel: Or make it rain from the sky.
[7:39:32 PM] Anderiel: Or cause a pilalr of flame to rise from the ground.
[7:39:39 PM] Anderiel: Fire Manipulation is...
[7:40:44 PM] Anderiel: Fire Manipulation - Moving x amount of fire with no physical means. Being able redistribute it over a set distance, and control it over a set distance.
[7:41:21 PM] Anderiel: So, unless they have some alterior means to start a Large Fire.
[7:41:33 PM] Anderiel: It's not very strong, unless you're in a forest.
Essentially, you can have the Sun Slayers have Electromagnetic Spectrum manipulation as it's single use, but it won't be very powerful, nor will you be able to do things such as shoot lightning or raw magical energy out as well. Essentially, you only have one spell because it MUST be magitech.
Later on in the RP, Anderiel will be introducing magical artifacts that are in the shape of firearms, but until then...it would be advisable to get one gun for every individual spell that your current Sun Slayer has. Because single use. So either you have tons of guns that fulfill different functions, or you have a few guns that are relatively weak, but with broad uses.
[8:02:45 PM] Ashifili: how far does magic say fuck you to physics?
[8:03:25 PM] Anderiel: It's more like.
[8:03:32 PM] Anderiel: Lightning =/= Magic
[8:03:41 PM] Anderiel: Lightning = A Natural Occurence
[8:03:49 PM] Anderiel: Natural Occurence = Science
Lightning Magic = Magic
[8:04:10 PM] Anderiel: Lighting =/= Magic
[8:04:53 PM] Ashifili: so lightning magic is the shooting of lightning bolts and shizz, but it can't change what lightning itself is?
[8:05:19 PM] Anderiel: Lightning Magic is mana.
[8:05:40 PM] Anderiel: Therefore, it's not Lightning.
[8:06:07 PM] Anderiel: It's an imitation of a Natural Occurence in the form of a spell.
[8:09:44 PM] Ashifili: as a summary...
[8:10:21 PM] Ashifili: Basically, elemental magic is an imitation of the real thing, meaning that there are no elemental spells that can change the physical properties of an element?
[8:10:32 PM] Anderiel: Exactly.
[8:10:34 PM] Ashifili: As in, you can have lava, but you can't have liquid fire
[8:10:41 PM] Anderiel: Yes.
As such, elemental magic takes a natural occurence, such as an avalanche or a tornado, and then uses magic to mimick it. You can't do something to an element that reality doesn't allow, such as making solid air or gaseous rocks. So, you know, no one can break that rule, unless you're God.
[8:23:12 PM] Anderiel: Rhys Welch
Rhys Welch, the prodigal young inventor that has recently made a name for himself with his advanced skills in robotics and guncrafting. Being the boy who invented ARCs 'Aerial Robotic Combatants' which are essentially small mechanized dragons armed with guns, he has become the spotlight of Doniaeth and is growing in fame nearly every day. <--- Read that, and look for the word Prosthesis.
Why do I even type this stuff if it's not going to be read?
[8:25:12 PM] Anderiel: I don't even.
[8:25:16 PM] Anderiel: What the serious fuck.
[8:19:10 PM] Anderiel: Magic can't give X-ray vision.
[8:19:17 PM] Anderiel: Magic 'can' give invisibility.
[8:19:25 PM] Anderiel: But it's finite.
[8:19:32 PM] Anderiel: And not like perma-stealth.
[8:21:12 PM] Anderiel: Not spine surgery.
[8:21:24 PM] Ashifili: doesn't he do prosthetics though?
[8:21:28 PM] Anderiel: No.
[8:22:06 PM] Anderiel: He made the ARCs
[8:26:11 PM] Anderiel: I said Fantasy Tech.
[8:26:15 PM] Anderiel: No Sci-Fi Tech.
[8:34:06 PM] Ashifili: does magic bend the laws of physics/reality, generally?
[8:34:11 PM] Ashifili: bar Sky's wtftimemagic
[8:34:49 PM] Anderiel: The best way to explain it would be.
[8:35:15 PM] Anderiel: ST+MT=R
[8:35:30 PM] Anderiel: ST-R=MT
[8:35:40 PM] Anderiel: MT-R=ST
[8:36:00 PM] Anderiel: Science Theory = Scientific Knowledge or Imitation Magic.
[8:36:32 PM] Anderiel: ^
[8:36:48 PM] Anderiel: They are equal things, and are a part of reality.
[8:36:56 PM] Ashifili: so they can't change it?
[8:36:59 PM] Anderiel: Nope.
[8:37:03 PM] Ashifili: only do things within the constraints of reality?
[8:37:07 PM] Anderiel: Yes.
[8:37:21 PM] Anderiel: A rock cannot be a banana.
[8:37:25 PM] Anderiel: No matter how hard it tries.
[8:37:35 PM] Anderiel: No machine can do the impossible.
[8:38:11 PM] Anderiel: Sky's magic if it ever gets brought up.
[8:38:17 PM] Anderiel: Is just super advanced spacial magic.
[8:38:20 PM] Anderiel: #explained
[8:46:20 PM] Anderiel: Natural Arts > Magic = Tech
[8:46:36 PM] Anderiel: Thao pretty OP.
[8:46:43 PM] Anderiel: Funny how we have only 1.
Weak Mages can't even use Anti-Magic, the closest thing they'd have is like Repel Barrier where it repels magic.
[8:48:06 PM] Anderiel: Anti-Magic Zones are used by Paladins who literally want to bust their ass to learn it.
[8:50:42 PM] Ashifili: the question still stands though, can a stronger mage bust through the anti-magic of a weaker one?
[8:50:56 PM] Anderiel: No.
[8:51:07 PM] Anderiel: Simply because it's not a dick measuring contest.
[8:51:21 PM] Anderiel: It's a spell created for the sole purpose of cancelling magic.
