@KoL To be fair, it's hard to care about characters that are only being developed in the middle of action sequences. An RP is just as much about story as it is action (usually). If we just wanted to have flashy magic fights with cool pets we'd be on arena right now. I mostly speak for myself but I THINK some people might agree with me somewhat.

But arena is just a bunch of angry people arguing over math and science. Which is different from action.

The story is still in the introduction stage. We are not going to be wholly reliant on combat just as we are not going to be without combat of any sort. The behemoth was the result of one characters actions that merely accelerated the activation of a planned plot device that served as a means for the characters to demonstrate how they would react to a high pressure situation. or as Windel would put it:

Well we'll definitely have more interaction scenes in the tournament. This was really just gauging to see how many people actually cared for it since most people just want to jump in and do all the flashy cool stuff to show off their character first. Kind of like an Establishing Character Moment.

There will be time for your characters to interact and develop without the threat of imminent doom and rioting civilians, but these scenes are still a necessity and serve a purpose to both the characters and the story.

Those points. I honestly doubt that this crowd is going to have a lasting effect on the RP as a whole, and that without the crowd the behemoth would have been entirely irrelevant. I'm under the impression that this part of the RP is mainly to introduce us to a potential villain that will be appearing again later on.

What I cannot understand is how EASILY this crowd was swayed by some random conspicuous bystander to turn against the Song Knights that literally just did their job. I am also aware of herd mentality, which no doubt played a part in the crowd's reaction. What I don't understand is how the majority of this crowd is turning against all of the Knights and not just the one that clearly caused the problem. It's an anime trope that I've noticed that nameless non-recurring characters are basically brainless, but while this RP is inspired by anime I also expected some amount of realism. With more introduction we might understand why the crowd is so on edge against these Knights, maybe the latest ones have been lax in their duties, or criminal, or just incompetent, but that isn't explained. Many of the arguments "??? goth loli girl" present are rather weak too.

What I do commend is a system where players are actually punished OR rewarded for their actions. It's good that you include that, yet I somehow have the feeling that the behemoth would have appeared regardless, along with the eventual angry crowd. Correct me if I am wrong.

So I'll apologize now to anyone reading this for my being what may or may not be interpreted as needless belligerence, but I was reading the OOC and sort of got into a debating mood from the conversations that have been held recently.

P.S. Yikes I just reread that and it's not visually pleasant, it doesn't flow well. I'm too lazy to fix it though so "post reply".

After discussing a few things with the GM's, I've come to the conclusion that I won't enjoy being a part of this roleplay. I figure it's better to leave sooner rather than later (since me leaving now has no real consequences ICly). Thank you, but this RP just wasn't for me.

I'm gonna roll with it anyways, but in a world where Song Knights are well known, its kind of hilarious that at any time a common civilian can just question us and everyone replies with weapons and anger. I guess we must be the equivalent of the mafia. We say protect, but imply that we require protection fees. Mary isn't getting a free pass here, not by a long shot. However, 5 Song Knights responded to the threat in a record time, obliterating the threat. Small girl raises a question, "The Song Knights are scum because they couldn't be omniscience about every life that was in the area during their record 20 second fight."

I'm not trying to make this hateful, and apologize if it comes off that way. I guess OOC is a good place to question the silliness of this.
Note: I'm not sure if this should stay up, so I'm prepared to remove it if asked.

I see your point, but could the GMs not have power over the mob? It is well within their right for a mob to suddenly become angery, just to throw a curve ball at the players, besides, more things could be at work here, then mere logic. (Hint: Dissonance)

Hm. Well we are dummy student Song Knights. Flying Boulder problem. Anytime something bad happens the nearest authority figure does seem to get blamed. Powers of goth-girl unknown. Crowd believes possibility of us summoning it and using it for glory. Plus the Bach Empire values order and are a very militarist people so even a little disorder or failure in terms of military(us) would be more noticed. Idk, seems like its justifiable with only the information we have, disregarding too much behind the scenes work. Seems too much to me like we're arguing with the authors because we don't like the way the story is going. Yeah its a collaborative process with us but we signed up to let the GMs be the guiding force right? Besides I'd feel terrible if you guys forced the GMs to reveal stuff to keep us happy. :<

That's a very good opinion and pretty much sums all that is happening. You did forgot the fact that the people of Bach have xenophobic tendencies and the majority of the knights involved are clearly from outside the country, thus it intensifies things a bit further.

Like I said before we aren't doing this just for the sake of being cruel and inflicting undue despair on your characters, but at the same time it's clear that there's a portion of the players that wants this to go down a route it simply can for a matter of internal consistency.

And none of the involved characters perceived something that should be obvious to them, so I'll drop it here, you are representatives of your schools as stated before and the school are a State Institution, thereby everything you do has a rather heavy weigh behind it. Academy bound Song Knights are part of the military, not random adventurers that have no care in life, your actions are the action of your nation and of your people.

Just put it like this, what would you think if a soldier decided that it was a good "show" to get into a town for a tournament made to enforce peace between warring states driving a tank and smashing all on its way, or by a devil may care canon salvo? That's what happened here. 90% of the characters up to now have the least notion of the responsibility they care on their shoulders and, while I'll not enforce this on you all, since everyone can and should RP like they want, mind the possible consequences of your actions IC.

Been playing Birthright waaaaay too much lately. "Conquest and Revelations are next on my path to victory." (Walhart reference)

Tried to play conquest on lunatic, gave up, considering I barely made it through on hard. Think I could smash birthright on lunatic cause it was ez but haven't tried it yet. Revelations on lunatic is giving me some trouble but I'm working through it.
