Would the tower and the Devoted still be around in the present day? Or was it abandoned over the last thousand years?

Would the tower and the Devoted still be around in the present day? Or was it abandoned over the last thousand years?

Short answer? Yes and no.

I've been thinking about that quite a bit since I made my post. I'm not sure how much magic ability Eyra had when she got that far south, but I'd imagine that it was enough so that, with an army backing her, she could have wiped out the Devoted—it would the sort of thing Etruscans would tell horror stories about, even centuries after it happened, but it could be done. After that, I'd imagine she'd want to take the books and scrolls inside for her own purposes, but she could destroy them if you like.

But bringing down the tower itself would be a bit trickier. This was the stronghold of someone who had the greatest thirst for knowledge the world had ever known—and with that comes a lot of magical knowledge. Add into that a hefty predisposition towards the arcane, and it rapidly becomes clear that it's going to take some serious juice to bring it to the ground. Eyra could potentially have been strong enough in her prime (that is really up to you, since you designed her), but it would have taken a lot out of her. It just wouldn't be an effective use of her time and energy.

So, the Devoted are gone, but the tower's still standing, and time isn't going to grind it down into dust.

EDIT: I don't know if anyone even saw this before I edited it, but I redid some awkward and unclear wording. And fixed a typo.

Seems good. But I would add that by the time Eyra reached the tower, the Devoted had dwindled to almost nothing, given that almost 800 years had passed since they'd last been in contact with their Supreme Leader. The remainders would have fought the etruscan expedition with the fury of a bygone age.

Bringing down the tower is something Eyra would never be able to do, even in her prime, and she was definitely not in it when she reached the desert. Anyway, she would see no reason to. She'd steal everything that wasn't nailed down, ship it to her vault in Analos, and seal off the Tower with a boulder or something.

So how long have the Children been in the pit? I was assuming my character was thrown in somewhere during the war (though he wasn't really on either side) so is that 1000 years? 8000?

I'm almost done with my sheet apart from that.

This RP starts 1112 years after the Angels were betrayed, at the end of the War. So at least that long. (I should probably put up a timeline, huh.)

Also: I amended the character sheet template to add an "Angel or demon" section. It boils down to whether you were forcibly imprisoned in the Pit or betrayed.

So, another question;

Are multiple characters allowed? I'm thinking about two.

I don't see why not.

@Roosan

Your sheet is perfect, go ahead and put it in the character tab.

I'm going to start making my character (or possible two) soonish. Tonight or tomorrow, if I get time

I don't have a definite concept yet, though

@The Grey Dust

Your sheet's fine, but for everyone else, please post your WIP in this OOC or message me before putting it in the character tab, so I can moderate them.

@Roosan

I feel like I should clarify something else: The Children are physical beings, at least when alive. They can't pick and chose which physical form they prefer, which both your sheets seem to hint at. It's probably just innocent wording, but let's nip this potential confusion in the bud right now: unless shape shifting is explicitly part of your character's "thing", they're stuck in a single form, for better or worse.

I understood that they were physical beings but I thought part of their reincarnation process was taking over someone else's body? That was what I meant by 'preferred form', picking someone that fits with what he normally looks like.

Oh, yes, you're quite correct in that regard. But by taking over a mortal's body, it's morphed into their own shape. If a dragon Child reincarnated, for example, the unfortunate mortal would slowly sprout wings and grow scales.

Picking a physically similar host would accelerate things greatly though.

My apologies. I had no idea. Honestly I thought about it, but then since no one else posted one... Anyways, I hope you find everything satisfactory. I'll edit the "opinons" section in one go when we have a good roster.

You're by no means limited to humanoid forms. Become a kraken if that's your dream. Children can be pretty much anything so long as they're A) intelligent and B) Immortal.

I'm probably going to be making two characters.

One of which will likely be a shapeshifter, actually.

The other one possibly inspired by mythological goddesses such as Artemis, or something else.

Perhaps then I shall make Wu Dan's opposite. While this guy is a saintly protector with his own sins as burdens...

The other guy shall be a hedonist who amplifies the inner desires beings have until it consumes them. And this obsession, what may it be, wealth, power, sex, food, friendship, righteousness, they shall succumb to it as he rules their hungers to feed his own.

Public service announcement: I will be more or less unavailable during the weekend. If I don't come back to find my inbox crammed with a dozen character sheets, I'll be very disappointed in all of you.
