@texSure, I'll leave status condition descriptions to the trainers and their Pokémon, that's fair. I hadn't thought of that before and got carried away in my writing, and that's my fault. I apologize.
Though, I don't agree with you on "auto-hit". I'm not auto-hitting anyone; I take everything in the situation into account and plan accordingly. I always have plans for the NPC's Pokémon in certain situations. Meowth closed the distance between him and a slower Pokémon, giving her the reach she needed. Sometimes "Dodge it!" just doesn't work, despite speed differences. Often times I am inspired by my memories of the show. Being faster than someone else doesn't always guarantee that you'll out-evade them. This would remove slower Pokémon from all competitions whatsoever. And that's not how fighting works in real-life either. If you get close to your opponent and throw a punch, counters are a very real and dangerous possibility. Sometimes taking the lesser hit can lead to a winning move. There are numerous instances of this in boxing and other professional fighting sports.
I'd also like to note that placing you into that situation made you think critically. I want this RP to be more than you attacking, then me attacking, then you attacking, and since you attacked twice you win. There should be defensive maneuvers, using the environment, commands other than just Pokémon moves. Hell, sometimes not moving at all might be the right call. This is where the RP differs from the original games in that I don't want everyone just spamming the A-button. I'm not here to make you lose just to lose. I'm here to challenge your creativity and tactical skills. Preparing for a battle should be everything. Know what the other Pokémon can do, know what's around you, and know your own strengths and weaknesses. And if your beginner trainer is incapable of that, then that's the point. They just started fighting and don't know anything yet. But they'll learn, even if it requires a losing record.
I really went into depth there, but I felt like I'd annoyed you with what you just wrote. There may be situations like these in future IC and I want you to know I have a process for all of this. I'm very passionate about this RP and I want it to come to life, as much as I can make it. I'm sorry if I rubbed you the wrong way with that description, but I like how you calmly assessed the situation and came up with a solid way to fight back. Are we cool?
