-Fragments of Crimson-

GM: @KoL
Co-GM: @TheWindel

"This message has reached you after passing through various Outlaw branches around the world to ensure its integrity. You are being requested, at Boston, USA, by the Flame Haze leadership, to take part in a task force to take down the Weaver of Dreadful Legends, Shitiri. Stopping her plans is imperative, but be cautious, many of our comrades have fell to her hands already, this is why we chose to assemble a team this time. In two weeks, meet with your appointed allies on the Port of Boston, on a warehouse marked with the Outlaw's badge, a representative will be there to provide an on-site briefing.
Braider of Trembling Might, Sophie Sawallisch

With that letter in hand, the Herald of the Collapsing Warcry, Farris Aran, made her way to the marked wharehouse, asking the opinion of her partner on the current events, "What do you think of this situation, Crokel? That Crimson Lord appear to be up to something big, the very air of this city seems to reek with anticipation, or... fear."

"That's only natural, Farris Aran. The Weaver of Dreadful Legends is an ancient and powerful Crimson King that has been plaguing the world for longer than we are contracted. No one knows much about her, except that she used to lead a pacific life, but after something happened in the wake of the Great War, she changed. Do you remember the Black Death? It was actually one of the Weaver's doings, but no one ever discovered why, anyway, so much for talk, we are here, finally." Crokel cut his speech as Farris finally reached the wharehouse.

Pushing the marked door open, they were greeted by a couple of other Flame Haze, the Puppeteer of Devilish Skills, Seere Habichtsburg and the Archer of Aurora, Chiara Toscana who greeted them, before Chiara said, "Well, you two seem to be the first to arrive, please, make yourselves at home. I'm the Archer of Aurora, Chiara Toscana and this are my friends, Forerunner of Daybreak and Successor of Twilight, Outreniaia and Vetcherniaia as well as the Puppeteer of Devilish Skills, Seere Habichtsburg and the Gorgeous Hanging Strings, Gizo. We came to instruct you all, and help man Boston's Outlaw for some time as soon as the others arrive we will begin the briefing. Right, Seere?"

"Yeah, you her the kid, if the others don't miss their way here, we are good to go in one hour, tops. For the time begin lets chill out. Wanna a drink, Herald of Collapsing Warcry, Farris Aran and Thundering Earth Call, Crokel?" Seere said as he threw a bottle of whiskey to Farris. "Stories about you say that you're as hard to outdrink as the Chanter of Elegies, I wanna see if that's tru- Hey! What have I done now?" Seere looked at Chiara who had elbowed him not so subtly and was glaring with a disapproving look in her eyes.

"We are here on a mission, Seere, you can leave your drink for after we've finished for the night", Chiara said, "I'm sorry for his ways, Herald, Seere is a good person, but sometimes he gets a bit too eager. Let me know if he bothers you."

Farris, who had been observing everything quietly, set the alcohol bottle to the side before, chuckling as she said, "There's no problem, just like you said, Archer of Aurora, let's wait for others peacefully. As for your invitation, Puppeteer of Devilish Skills, I'll be glad to take you on when we are done. I may not be the Chanter of Elegies, but I'm sure my drinking skills won't disappoint you." Farris said with a confident grin born of hundreds of years of practice. Now, all that they had to do is lay low and wait for the others to arrive. Hopefully, it won't take too long?

Hazenet General Announcements

The Weaver of Dreadful Legends is currently in the United States of America.

Chatrooms dating prior to XX-MM-YYYY will be removed from public viewing. Hazenet would like to remind all users to back up any important data.

A state of caution for our server may result in unannounced service interruptions. Hazenet would like to remind all users to please refrain from discussing sensitive information on public areas. Private chatrooms exist.

The Anonymous Millennial Upstart Pretender would like to kindly remind all users taking meaningful steps to seriously attempt to discern their identity is a banworthy offence.

Thank you for your attention and welcome or welcome back to Hazenet,

Anonymous Millennial Upstart Pretender

Pressing enter and thus successfully updating the welcome page of his world, his magnum opus, his meaning for existence Hazenet, Douglas sat back in his chair, leaning away from the multitude of computer screens filled with maps, documents or open chatrooms with various people, both aware of the secret war between Flame Haze and Denizens in which humans were but collateral damage and unaware. Taking a moment to respond to one, he then closed the room.

A powerful Crimson Denizen was in Boston.

That thought was in his mind and did not leave it. Twice the battle between Flame Haze and Denizen had affect him. Twice he had already been caught up in it, loved ones lost to it. Twice he had been a witness. Now, for the third time with no one left in his life Douglas was once again going to be in the middle of a battlefield and no one - no human - would know.

What the Flame Haze were going to do, he had no idea. All he knew was that their leader, Sophie, would probably do something - but of course, what that something actually was was not for him to know - he, a mere human had no place in the war outside of a marginal support role.

That thought frustrated him. Why wouldn't he have a place? Why didn't he have a right to know? He was on the line as well - if the Flame Haze lost, his existence could very well be snuffed out, replaced by a pale imitation. How dare they sit up on their high horse, telling him not to butt in when his life was on the line as well!? How dare-

Douglas was left bewildered by the sudden wave of hostility that had struck him. Taking a moment to process his recent thoughts, he got up from his chair.

Self pity, self reflection and self doubt could wait later. There was Rum Raisin to be had.

"If you don't put that down, you're gonna completely miss what we're looking for."

"Hm."

"It's been forty minutes, and you haven't even switched it on yet."

"...Hm."

"You see why I suggested asking ab- to the left."

Without looking up from the powerless piece of plastic adorned with buttons, Isla Lyall slid to her left, and continued walking past the street light that had barred her path. She continued fiddling with the device, forever unable to figure out how the mobile phone was supposed to work. The seemingly-disembodied voice of her companion sighed. Isla was pretty stubborn about not seeking help for that little toy. And not even because of pride, she just didn't want to bother those employees that specialise in making sure tech-illiterate customers can use the devices they buy. Well, three weeks and several thousand miles later, it was a little bit late to come back for assistance.

They were nearing their destination now. According to that letter, a team of Flame Haze was required to take down The Weaver of Dreadful Legends, which Isla was more than happy to participate in. Wulver did not voice his objections, but he couldn't help but be concerned. Even with a group of Flame Haze at her side, Isla was still relatively inexperienced, and this was an exceedingly dangerous opponent. He trusted Isla to judge her opponents carefully, but...

"...Hey," Isla spoke softly, pocketing the phone for now as she came to a stop. Brushing a stray strand of hair behind her ear, the ponytailed brunette surveyed the buildings before her, "How many is there?"

No doubt she was referring to the number of Flame Haze that were being gathered, and the Lord couldn't help but chuckle. His partner would gleefully leap into battle with an army of Denizens, but the prospect of a meeting with her allies resulted in Isla stalling and delaying her arrival as much as she could. She was quite a humorous girl like that.

"Given the situation, probably hundreds," Wulver suggested teasingly, causing Isla to grimace and direct her eyes to the ground bashfully. She proceeded at a much slower pace than usual, exchanging no more words with the rounded stone resting in her breast pocket. She was probably mentally preparing herself for the momentary attention she would receive upon arriving.

They finally reached the marked warehouse, designated as the rendezvous point, and Isla inhaled deeply, hand resting against the door for several moments, before slowly pushing it open.

"..."

Keeping her eyes to the floor, Isla stepped inside and immediately stepped towards a corner of the building, avoiding eye contact. There was only three present, but that would most likely change very soon. ...Could this place even house hundreds of people inside it?
Leaning against the wall, the Flame Haze known as the Cruel & Silent Hunter, simply waited.

The Fierce Caretaker
Alastair

Alastair having gotten the message on his Telstra hiptop 2 made his way down to the docks. He'd been living in boston for a year, and a half so knew where a bunch of the key locations were. So finding the right warehouse was a breeze, but seeing as he'd other matters to attend to in the city had him arrive later than a few others.
"Oh look Alastair there's a bunch of people here already! It looks like it could erupt into a big party. ohohooo I want to get down with my bad self so bad!" Alastair sighed deeply rubbing the back of his head. "Madam, I don't think that'd be in our best interest. Nor do I want to detract from the reason we are here." "Oh phooey, Alastair you big stick in the mud!" The flame haze sighed deeply in a mixture of irritation, and exhaustion. He'd been taking care of a lot more torches than usual. It now made sense why that was from the message he'd gotten. "Shitiri The weaver of dreadful dreams." Isis was quiet now as her haze brought that name up. Knowing he wanted the time to just think, and cool his mild anger. "So many people, dead. Due to someone else's greed." He shook his head sighing deeply, soon he found a seat on a pallet of wood. He folded his hands in front of his face shutting his eye to concentrate on calming down.
When he opened it again he finally really looked over at the other three Flame Hazes, he knew of a few of them. Though unfortunately enough for him though with his strange title, and odd behavior towards torches. Had all earned him a good deal of renown in the flame haze community. After all what sort of Flame Haze treated torches, and Mystes as if they were still human? "What'cu thinkin bout Alastair?" Isis' words snapped him quickly out of his funk, and made him smile slightly. "Nothing much madam, just wondering what I should make for dinner. I'm thinking curry, Chiken tikka masala. Been a while since I'd made that." "Oh ick! Noooo, I don't like the smell of curry. Why not make hawaiian pizza instead?" Alastair quickly began to start laughing finding Isis' behavior as amusing. "Very well, Hawaiian pizza for dinner it is then."

~The Warehouse~

As the warehouse began to fill up with the Flame Hazes who had answered Sophie’s call, the notion of drinks and refreshments would need to be placed in order. That was probably why the Biter of Torturous Wilt had been summoned to cater for this such occasion. Because after all, even Flame Hazes had to drink to their delight.

Granted, there wasn’t much for her to work with at the moment seeing as their temporary base was little more than a run-down shack held away from roaming eyes. But she could make it work; bar tending was her specialty after all. Fixing up a small, makeshift bar out of wooden boards, cardboard, and even some duct tape she had found, she got to work preparing several drinks, each with a kick and some spice to them.

Hearing the other’s and their conversations, she gave a wink to the Puppeteer of Devilish Skills and the Herald of the Collapsing Warcry. At least those two knew how to have a good time with the addicting nectar of alcohol. As those two began to get chummy chummy, she noticed the arrival of two other Flame Hazes: the Cruel and Silent Hunter and the Fierce Caretaker.

“Oi! Quite sulking and muttering to yourselves so you can join the others. It’s not often you get free drinks these days,” she said with another wink and a toothy grin. Her contracted Crimson Lord, Nion, sighed in exasperation, his form that of a cocktail shaker. AS the Biter of Torturous Wilt beckoned both Isla and Alastair forward, she offered them both a cup of Jalapeño Margaritas.

“See that? On the house!”

[Outlaw Warehouse
Boston, USA
Lucien Lothringen, Defender of the Light and Seina, The Pontiff of Order]

"Did someone mention free drinks?"

A man stood, both with his disheveled appearance and crude, yet not without respect, tone of voice. Someone who didn't look like he seemed comfortable standing within a single place. However, a man without honor was not really a man at all, and the Defender of the Light, Lucien Lothringen, was a man who was bound by his own honor and the self-proclaimed fastest flame haze. Not exactly a curse, nor a blessing, but if the Defender of the Light was to say something, he would do his all to make sure his word isn't simply fluff in the wind.

On the man's face was a grin. Within standard context, the Defender of Light was definitely a man that would prefer to smile over anything else. Even during combat, he was the sort of man to be able to give a warm greeting to an opponent and slay them merely moments later. After all, as someone who had been paid to kill, he wasn't one to believe that you should despise the person you were to kill, unless they had wronged you at some point.

Perhaps it could be said that the grin was more likely to shed blood than break bread, but within the context of the current meeting, Lucien was definitely not against being friendly with his fellow flame haze. After all, they weren't his enemy.

"Can't say I can really turn down a good drink. Double if it is not my wallet paying for it."

However, perhaps his Crimson Lord, The Pontiff of Order, didn't exactly care for these sorts of instances. After all, to make an irrational promise and keep it true throughout the entirety of the "contract" would likely lessen the overall success rate of the given instance. And the Pontiff of Order was someone who only cared about the results over anything else.

If anything, The Defender of the Light's actions were silly at best, self-destruction at worst. Which concerned the Pontiff of Order, as it would be a shame to lose someone who's skill with the spear and prowess in defeating the opponents of the Flame Haze were to lose himself in something as silly as a bet. She would continue to watch the "boy" as long as the contract they shared remained.

But for the time being at least, Lucien was satisfied with his drinks.

"The only thing better than a few drinks is the smile of a cute girl, I always say! Wouldn't you agree? Gahahaha~!"

Proclaimed to no one in particular, Lucien might have been enjoying himself a bit too much...

Well in any case, it was time to start preparing.

Walking out of the kitchen with a cup of rum raisin and plopping back into his seat, the Anonymous Millennial Upstart Pretender looked back at the multitude of screens and sighed. Any moment now, he would be receiving a call from the warehouse, where he would be attending the meeting of Flame Haze - in an unconventional method, at least.

XXXXX

Somewhere in the warehouse, placed by members of the Boston Outlaw were two laptops: One really, really cheap looking one and another that was of a much higher quality. They were there, shut, closed, each with a sign.

The cheap looking laptop had a sign which read "Turn me on!". In hindsight, that was probably not the best wording that the Anonymous Millennial Upstart Pretender could have chosen to use. Hindsight is, after all, 20/20.

The other laptop had a sign which simply read "Turn me on in case you accidentally blow up the first one."

Hindsight is definitely 20/20.

And so those two pieces of electronics waited for the Flame Haze to discover them and hopefully turn them on without making them explode. Who knew how tech literate - or illiterate - they could be?

XXXXX

Three Days Ago, Monterey Regional Airport

Yngwie was furious.

To the world around her, she was just a lonely woman sitting at an empty gate at the airport. Her posture was slightly above average and her coloring was greatly below average, sure, but she wasn't different enough to arouse attention. Her face was kept carefully neutral.

Heracles, however, wasn't fooled. Seventy-ish years spent in constant contact with a person gives a special insight into their inner workings, after all. Or perhaps it was just that he was in the same situation and understood why she was upset.

"These Americans... Vhy ve didn't put them in place years ago astounds me. Transport schedule not kept... and they not provide in place of mistake! Irresponsible..."

A slurred voice only she could hear, full of feigned optimism, sounded from behind her head. "Hey, look at the bright side - you get to spend quality time with me! I just know you looooove keeping me company. After all, I am the strongest, the fastest, the mightiest, the one and only Heracles! Who wouldn't want to buy a few drinks for a guy like me?"

"Knock it off. Bragging not helping, yes? Cannot stand eight hours of this, so up shut early."

"You're telling me to shut up already? Aww, and I thought we were friends." Yngwie gave no response to his playful prodding. "Well, it's kind of chilly here. Since we'll be here a while, would you kindly hold me closer to your heart, that I may feel its warmth?"

The corner of Yngwie's mouth twitched upward. "You know my heart cold like motherland. Now, quiet, for sleeping to help vait faster."

Present, Boston Outlaw

The door to the warehouse opened once more, admitting the tall form of Yngwie Romanov, The Bleak Taskmaster. With a simple glance she surveyed the interior, her trained eyes taking in as much information from the scene as possible. A bar, a number of youthful Flame Hazes, suspiciously labeled laptops, and two people who seemed the most authoritative of the bunch. The other options being a bartender, a lush at the bar, a girl with a bottle of whiskey, a meathead biker, and a timid teen, it wasn't hard to pick them out.

"Oooh, a bar! Get a drink, get a drink! We're going to have fuuuuun tonight! Paaarty!" Heracles' jovial cries fell only upon Yngwie's deaf ears, as she had other concerns.

Namely, she felt a need to chastise those in charge. America had been a great disappointment to her thus far, and the Outlaw had done little to improve her experience. "Vhat is meaning?" she asked, her voice calm and tone level, but her accent quite thick. "Drink before meeting of importance? Vhy are suspicious laptops 'ere? Disorganized not expecting. Joke is this!?"

"Frey, darling, calm down. Nobody's going to understand you like that." Heracles whispered into Yngwie's ear, though even he knew it likely wasn't going to help much.

Isla had raised her head slightly when she heard someone yell in her general direction. She seemed to be offering a drink for herself and other recent arrivals. The Hunter remained motionless however, eyes surveying the growing number of Flame Haze entering the warehouse. It would be rude to ignore the Biter of Torturous Wilt's offer, but what if someone took the opportunity to try and strike up conversation? That'd be way too awkward! Isla only wanted to slay monsters; this 'socialising' thing was just way too difficult!

Still, felt she was left with little choice, Isla slowly made her way towards the bar, avoiding eye contact with her allies. After several long moments, she was holding the margarita in her hand, staring at the drink blankly. She may be over a century old, but cocktails were not something Isla had looked into in all this time. What if she didn't like it? It would be in poor taste to not finish the drink...

"We thank you," Wulver spoke in place of the silent Flame Haze, "It's nice to see so many of us gathered like this. I'd prefer more casual circumstances, but still."

Isla preoccupied herself with taking in the warehouse once more as Wulver struck conversation. The latest arrival, with a rather strong accent, seemed quite annoyed by something, Isla wasn't entirely sure of what though. Was she just grouchy in general? This was why Isla much preferred to keep to herself. Way less awkward...

Alastair

"Hey Alistair looks like someones yelling to get your attention. Come on you big stick in the mud go accept her drink." Not wanting to be rude Alistair walked over to the Biter of Torturous Wilt. Then took the drink swirling it around a little then took a gulp, without really looking at it. The expression on his face was priceless as he looked mortified. He calmly set the cup down, and fought the urge to gag. "Thanks... But, I must kindly refuse your drink." "Hey hi there Isis here! The big guy isn't so great with a lot of spice. More of a sweets guy, if you can make him a strawberry daiquiri that'd be great."

The mood of the warehouse certainly got heavier as more and more Flame Haze arrived under the the same premise as Farris. If the Flame Haze leadership judged this to be a case serious enough to merit such a huge task force, probably most of the Flame Haze here didn't knew where they got themselves. Anyway, thanks to the timely arrival of the Biter of Torturous Wilt and her bartending skills things got under control again. It was about time they began the meeting anyway, which Chiara did by positioning the first laptop over a barrel and turning it on.

"Well then, Chiara, no sense in waiting for the lagers. We're just sitting ducks here without Boston's Tessera, after all." Seere said, tipping his hat while resting his back against a support beam. Just about this moment, the sound of light rain hitting the metallic roof of the warehouse began to heard, it seems that the weather was about to take a turn for the worse. Perfect for the grim statement they were about to do.

"I guess that you're right, every second we lose more lives could be lost." Chiara clasped her hands, looking glad that the laptop worked well and the connection to the address they were given was functional. As soon as the audio-chat got up, Chiara said "First, we'd like to thank you all for your cooperation on this sudden call, the Flame Haze leadership will not forget it. While I'd like to be able to spend the proper time with introductions, I fear that we must hurry. The only name we'd like to introduce is the only representative of the Boston Outlaw post, Anonymous Millennium Upstart Pretender, who's with us via... hmm, modern means, I think?" Chiara pointed to the laptop, a thing that most Flame Haze weren't used to see on their everyday lives, with a wry smile on her face, since she couldn't explain it very much better than anyone else here, hopefully AMUP could do it, since he was listening to everything.

"I believe everybody knows the reason why we were called here, but let me explain again. For the past six months, ever since April 30th, Boston has been the target of the Weaver of Dreadful Legends, Shitiri, a powerful Crimson King who caused many tragedies in the past. She has been consuming Power of Existence at an alarming rate and, right now we believe that at the very least one and a half million residents of Boston have been converted into Torches by her. We don't know what the Weaver has in mind with such a hideous act, but no matter what it is, we must stop it, at this rate half of Boston's population will be turned into Torches by the night of Halloween in two weeks."

"To turn what's bad into worse", Seere said, exchanging places with Chiara, "We still don't know where Shitiri is hiding herself but based on the pattern of the attacks we can be sure of one thing. She's leaving those Torches with far too much spare Power of Existence. It's almost as if the Weaver didn't wanted them to be snuffed out so soon. For what reason, though it's still a mystery. But there are many small fry denizens that have come to the city to try and take advantage of the Weaver's 'screw up', or so they think. To sum it up, the city is a zoo and we are the wardens, we can't screw up on this one."

Just as Seere finished his portion of the briefing, Chiara exchanged places with him again, "Anyone got questions? The Millennium Pretender, might be able to answer most things related to Boston, if you wish to ask. Or if any of you has any extra information you may want to share, please do so. Bu-" Chiara's speech was cut short by the boom of a thunder, causing her to recoil instinctively at the sudden intrusion. Just at this moment, the cawing of a raven perched on one of the warehouse's skylights could be heard for a moment, before it flew off.

"Hmm... do any of you think that there was something strange with that bird? Most birds would avoid going out during a night like this one, yet..." Crokel said introspectively, just as Farris was still waiting for a good chance to speak. Perhaps, something was about to happen?

“Nah, free on the house friend. Good thing I’ve got a pretty cute smile too because I feel like you’re gonna be a regular customer,” the Biter said to Lucien with a wink and a nudge. Her own Crimson Lord once again sighed, seeming to share the sentiments on both Flame Hazes with the Pontiff of Order.

More Flame Hazes began to arrive, specially a rude-mouthed one and…actually, that was about it. Seems it was going to be a small crowd today. Not that the Biter minded all too much, getting ready to fire up more drinks for the thirsty customers. Boston truly had some great tastes these days, not like the last time she was here. Too much blood and revolution for her in those times.

Her eyes did occasionally scan over to the laptops resting a few ways away. She had a feeling of who left them there but for the sake of anonymity, she kept that to herself. Let the kids play with their gadgets and whimsical toys. As long as she had her drinks, she had all the toys she would ever need.

“There you go, drink up sweety. Need to grow strong for the boys, am I right?” the Biter said to Isla before going to make Alastair’s request. “Strawberry daiquiri? Eh, a little sweet for my tastes but I’m not judging you kiddo. Right on the house it is!”

Once the drinks had been served and things had settled down, the announcements got underway. As Chiara and Seere began to report their mission, the Biter occupied herself with cleaning up spare cups and dishes. There was a moment where she blinked, looking around the warehouse in a confused manner before shrugging. Weird. She could have sworn she had felt…never mind.

As it turned out, maybe her senses were right given the sporadic appearance of thunder and a crow’s caw. She narrowed her eyes, not liking the vibes she was getting from the area. Maybe Farris was right. After all, when had crows ever been a sign of good will?

“Well if this is the sort of atmosphere you promote, then count me as a customer, lass,” Lucien simply responded. Of course, the Bilter was definitely someone who was aesthetically pleasing, and on top of that served good drinks. What else can one really look for in a “bartender”? At least, in Lucien’s mind, all one really needed in life was a good drink and a cute girl to be content with the current situation.

"I must be lucky if you are that skilled at making drinks and that cute looking then~."

But even so, though a good drink is definitely somewhat of a rarity, the value of the “cuteness of a girl” tended, for Lucien, to outweigh the quality of the drink, and to his surroundings there were a rather fair amount of what he would describe as “cute girls”.

There was a rather quiet girl who’s Crimson Lord seemed more willing to strike up a conversation, Cruel & Silent Hunter. Though skill and prowess in defeating opponents was definitely something that Lucien respected, he could not really say that he agreed with her seeming refusal to speak and enjoy herself in the current … “outing” of sorts.

“Guess you don’t really talk much, eh?”

Boring girls, even if they were cute, were boring none-the-less. But the Cruel & Silent Hunter seemed to be mulling something on the inside. Perhaps she was a bit more complex than what she let on with her hmms and nods let on? Lucien was a bit interested as to what her inner workings were like, not only because she was cute but because he was not the sort to judge based solely on appearance.

Then there was a woman with a strong eastern European accent, likely Slavic in origin, but as to which origin it was it seemed a bit of a mystery. Maybe Russian? Her English skills seemed a bit off. Hardly paying attention, he had heard her voice mispronounce a few words and speak oddly. That was to be expected though. Most eastern European languages were hardly compatible with more western counterparts. But what did interest Lucien was the over-sized curved blade she carried about her person. Though she seemed a bit happy about the bar just as Lucien was.

“Can’t really say I understand what you are saying, Miss, but perhaps your Crimson Lord has some sort of idea as to what you're saying? Or perhaps you could try and speak what you were trying to convey once again? I also want to say that I like your sword.”

Lucien wasn’t really trying to be rude, but ti say the least, he did want to know what the girl was babbling about in what appeared to be a strange tongue but was really in retrospect broken English.

There was also Farris Aran, but she seemed a lot less interested in the bar than the other Flame Hazes gathered today. Perhaps not “disinterested”, but more so interested in another affair. The true reason why they had arrived here in the first place. It was commendable. A room full of monsters within their own right. And Lucien was no exception, nor the other three ladies that had gained Lucien’s attention. Though unlike the other three ladies who Lucien could clearly see where “cute”, there was a degree of knowledge and deep understanding behind Farris. Farris was more of a “beauty”. At least, that was the only term that Lucien could think of to describe her from mere passing glances, and at the very least, she seemed a bit busy.

Aside from the girls who were mingling, there was also a man who had gained Lucien’s attention. Though Lucien was a rather slender compared to most others, lengthy at best, the man who had asked for a rather effeminate drink, a strawberry daiquiri, seemed as if he could crush a rock between his fists. An interesting prospect that Lucien would like to be proven right in this regard. Even if he acting in a bit of a childish manner from his drink choice, the strong definitely had a place within Lucien’s interests as potential sparring partners or those he would like to fight alongside.

“You look pretty strong. Perhaps you would be interested in sparring with be a few rounds after this is all over? Or perhaps you wish to drink a few with me?”

A simple question. If he was as strong as his appearance let on, it would be good training to have mock battles against the man, Alastair . Same was true of the Eastern European lady, as the over-sized eastern blade she carried seemed to require a degree of skill to wield.

Turning back to the bartender once again, Lucien continued.

“I am Lucien Lothringen, The Defender of the Light by the way. Maybe you have a card I could borrow for your “bar” if you have one.. Maybe something with your number one it?” Lucien asked the bartender. Perhaps it was his lucky day? To find such a cute bartender and to be given free drinks by the house. At least for the time being, he would definitely love to continue drinking to a stupor. At least that was the plan until his Crimson Lord had interfered with his thoughts.

“Lucien, we came here to do a job, not to drink. There are no time to play these silly frivolous-cum-flirtatious games. You aren’t a dog, are you?” the Pontiff of Order started. At the very least, she was a good partner to have, but a boring one none the less. And Lucien definitely did a few things that she took exception to as an "individual".

Tch. I know, I know. I ain’t exactly about to get too off direction here. I know why I am here. But why can’t I have a bit of fun before I have to go off again? ”

If lives were on the line, Lucien had to act. Men were men and would fight for what they believed in, regardless of such luxuries. If there was something he didn’t agree with, Lucien wouldn’t just sit tight and wait it out. He was one who preferred to be on the forefront; a vanguard to his fellow men and a protector to them. Comradely on the battlefield was something Lucien held to a high regard, and there was hardly forgiveness by his blade for breaking such rules.

Honor in battle and honor in action. The rules that Lucien lived by. A life without regrets was a life worth living, and as a near-immortal Lucien had a lot more years ahead of him if he didn’t happen to kill himself in the process.

Seere and Chiara, Puppeteer of Devilish Skills and Archer of Aurora respectively, had begun filling the Flame Hazes in the room about the happenings of the city. If they had failed their mission, the city itself would be lost forever. That was not something that Lucien could allow. If it was possible, he would like to protect every occupant in this city, but he understood that the impossibility of this would not be something he could uphold. At the very least he could stop the bleeding and lead to the defeat of this “Shitiri” individual.

Although Lucien heard a name he recognized. The Millennium Pretender had assisted Lucien in a job he had taken a long time ago in the Americas and he had never truly paid him back for what he had given him. If the Millennium Pretender was involved, Lucien knew the group was in good hands. Perhaps he could contact the Millennium Pretender some other time after the meeting?

“I’d like to state I will give it my all to help with the ending of this crisis in a favorable fashion. I swear it upon my spear. But I wish to know, how long has this been going on; this whole Shitiri thing?”

That was when the crow and lightning started happening. Lucien would be prepared and cast upon himself the Perception spell as to pick up on any sort of clues that could give him an advantage given the time, and a tracking spell to find anything around the area similar in composition to the crow.. But no one was stupid enough to attack a gathering and temporary headquarters for the Flame Haze, right? Even so, precaution is always a good think to have.

Isla did not reply to either query directed towards herself, instead preferring to direct her eyes to the margarita held in her hands. She was a terrible conversationalist, no doubt living up to her name. She stared at the drink until the meeting finally began, and her attention was directed towards the two Flame Haze initiating the meeting... and also the laptop she felt a strong urge to poke at until it did the things laptops did.

Still, she made sure to pay attention to what was said. This was kind of important, after all. And if there was one thing Isla was up for, it was slaying exceedingly dangerous Crimson Denizens. It didn't matter to the relatively-inexperienced Flame Haze just how powerful this Shitiri was, their sheer numbers would ensure victory for the righteous side! And Isla planned on inflicting the killing blow...

As the briefing came to a conclusion, however, a rather worrying event had occurred. Crows and thunder were not a good mix, regardless of your stance on superstition, and the timing was suspect. If this was supposed to be an open challenge, then Shitiri, or whoever sent the stupid bird, would have no right to complain when Isla tore them apart.

Well, it was best to cover all bases, at least. Setting her untouched drink onto the bar, Isla stepped towards the warehouses' exit. A quick survey of the perimeter would certainly set her mind more at ease, for now.

The Fierce Caretaker
Alastair

Alastair took the drink smiling, “Thanks I do prefer the sweeter things in life.” Then slowly drank the daiquiri enjoying it’s flavor immensely. ”Thankies Biter Alastair has a thing for sweets a serious thing for them. So keep those coming please, I wanna see this stick in the mud partying by the end of the whole meet, and greet. Alastair blushed, and sighed out clearing his throat with a cough. “Ignore Isis, please Biter. But, I will take another one of these delightful beverages later.”
He then looked up hearing Chiara start speaking then blanched towards the end. He’d heard that Shitiri was causing problems in Boston, but had no idea as to the magnitude. Soon a loud crushing of glass could be heard as Alastair had crushed the glass in his hand getting daiquiri, and glass all over the floor. ”Calm yourself Alastair.” Isis was very stern with her words knowing Alastair was about to lose it. “But, a million and a half people, dead… A million people and a haI-*” he was soon cut off by the loud boom of thunder, and he jolted his eye getting a wild look to it. As the crow cawed pink flames igniting in a circle around his feet. His eye focusing on the accursed bird he wanted something to kill, and badly.
” ALASTAIR ENOUGH! Though Isis’ words fell on deaf ears as Alastair took off after the bird letting out an enraged roar. As he ran up the side of the building using his treasure in order to get at it. ”Oh for Crying out loud! Can someone please come get this idiot? Before he ends up hurting himself or someone else.”

When he heard the lightning and the sounds of the bird flying off - he could not actually see it due to the angle of the webcam he was using but hearing the other Flame Haze talk about it in suspicion... it unnerved him.

As the Flame Haze began dispersing, however, he began to wonder just what the hell the point of him going through all of that trouble arranging those laptops were. Fear turned into annoyance as he quickly got on the search engine, copied and pasted an image of a facepalming cartoon character and set it as his online avatar, ensuring that everyone at the meeting could see how the laptop he was communicating through had the image which reflected his exasperated situation.

"...we are," he commented in a mutter as Alastair ran off of the webcam's view chasing after a bird, not quite unintentionally leaving the microphone on, "off to a great start."

He was, most definitely, sarcastic.

“Oi, big guy, chasing after a little bird we have no proof yet is anything ain’t exactly gonna give us an advantage of any kind.”

Lucien was simple in his conversation, brandishing his spear to his front as if in an attempt to intimidate his fellow flame haze. If anything, this sort of “rampage” was good for Lucien regardless of the outcome. In the event that Alastair: The Fierce Caretaker, were to settle down and return to his former post, Lucien had done his job to keep the Flame Haze on point.

However, in the event that the big guy was to continue his rampage, Lucien got the chance to experience sparing against a strong opponent; something that Lucien couldn’t say he disliked in the slightest.

One would wonder, if they had not paid attention to Lucien during the beginning of the fight how he would have been able to place himself between The Fierce Caretaker and the bird in such a way. If anything, the Fierce Caretaker should have, under normal circumstances, been able to outpace Lucien.

This was not the case. Lucien had placed himself between the bird and the man almost instantly. As if a flash of lightning, he appeared. The man known as The Defender of the Light definitely had a few tricks up his sleeve.

“I like your spirit. Alastair, was it? However, your spirit is misguided. Even if you caught the bird, then what? It could just be a normal bird. Either way, to your Crimson Lord, I’ll get your boy back to normal.”

Lucien was trying to be rational as possible regarding the behemoth of a man. Of course, chances are it was to fall on deaf ears. But even so, his insistence on making promises more

“Another silly promise,” Seina began. “One of these days you are going to hit something more stubborn than you. And I am not really one to be doing bits and pieces.”

But that was where his spear came into play. In the event that The Fierce Caretaker was to try and press forward against Lucien, who stood in the middle of where the bird had flown off and where Alastair currently stood. He would need to press past the spear man in order to get through to the bird.

In a normal event, the behemoth of a man was more likely to push over Lucien. However, the physiology of the Flame Haze allowed even a certain small girl to attack with the strength of many men., Appearance hardly meant much to the Flame Hazes. It could be anyone’s fight, but a fight between the Flame Hazes was a battle to see who’s existence was superior, the “world gate”, and the usage of certain tools known as the Sacred Treasures, and if neither were going to back down, it appeared that there would be some sort of fight on our hands. And perhaps between the rage of catching the bird and the lust of battle from Alastair and Lucien respectively, one of them was bound to get hurt.

The Fierce Caretaker
Alastair

Alastair glared at Lucien he was panting in his his hands cracking as they became fists. Then slowly he released his hands he wasn’t a mindless brute. But, the thought of all those people’s deaths appearing in his mind, being tormented by what Shitiri had done. Then he tightened his hands again his eye glaring at the Defender of Light, and he smiled. “You’re right… The bird could be normal. But, I’m so steamed I can’t seem to calm down. Mind a bit of a sparring to let it out?” He then punched his hand into an open palm, and cracked his neck. “I’m not one to usually consider such a brutish fight between allies. But, I can clearly see you want this fight just as much as I. So care to take this outside? As I’d hate to ruin this nice building provided by outlaw.”
”Thanks Lucien, for calming Alastair down. But, I think it would be a good idea he let this steam out on someone that can handle it. Though perhaps after this meeting is adjourned. Alright Alistair? Now apologize to all these nice people. As you’re coming off very rude.”
The large man rubbed the back of his head, and then nodded blushing. He turned to everyone else, and bowed low in apology. “I’m very truly sorry for my outburst. I hope we can continue this meet, and greet. I truly wish to not be the reason everything got derailed.” Then rose with a slight frown his brows knitted together. He was still disturbed heavily by the news of what Shitiri had done. Soon he found a seat on a palette of stone bricks, and folded his hands together on his lap hunched over slightly. He was facing the stage, and lifted his head to look at the laptop.
”Hey now don’t beat yourself up big guy. He-he-he-he I’m sure you just expressed how everyone else must’ve felt. Besides It’s not a real romp until someone flips a table over. Ha-ha-ha-ha!
Alastair just shook his head he was heavily ashamed of himself.

"As much as I would love to fight with you, big guy, we are in the middle of a meeting. But, after this is over, I'd let you be my wingman anytime."

Simple and to the point, despite the reference to a certain fighter pilot movie. Lucien was not the sort of person to usually let something as simple as a meeting usually get in the way of what he wanted, sparing, but the current subject matter was definitely something that caught Lucien's attention. After all, Lucien was the sort of person who felt that if he could have the chance, he should be able to prevent the deaths of innocents, or in this case, disappearance of existences, of those whom he had the ability to protect. Not the sort to believe he could protect everyone, but if he was able to protect as many people as he could from this sort of fate, his will and occupation was complete.

And these sorts of large-scale instances of planning were nothing to scoff at. Logistics and tactics were just as valuable in combat as strength and skill. If anyone had any sort of plans regarding the status of the affairs regarding the "monster" called Shitiri. Crimson Denizens were foul beasts which pit against one another humans for their own gains, absorbing them as if eating a fine meal. It was wrong to Lucien to allow such existences to continue operating in such a light, and if there was one strong enough to wipe out an amazing modern city which the likes of Boston was, it was nothing short of an emergency which the Defender of the Light and his Lord, the Pontiff of Order Lucien and Seina respectively would have to deal with at some point. Even if Lucien tended towards enjoying simplistic pleasures, Seina understood that beneath this superficial layer was a man aspiring for justice. There was a reason he was selected to bear her flame, after all.

“No problem for getting your boy back to normal. After all, we are both on the same side, no? I’ve met enemies I considered friends and allies I considered enemies, but I never really liked to consider those of my own side in this light. And Alastair over here doesn’t seem like a bad guy. I am Lucien, Defender of the Light, as you know, and though she doesn’t tend to talk as much, my Crimson Lord is the Pontiff of Order, Seina. I know you are Alastair, but who might be your Crimson Lord?”

“Introducing me as if I can’t do it myself. Surely you’re getting a bit too ahead of yourself again, Lucien. Need I remind you our contract?”

“Oh yes, Madam Seina, need I forget your excellency? Lucien says with a chuckle, mocking his own Crimson Lord as if Icarus using his wings of wax. At the very least, Lucien was a very honest individual, always seeming to say what is on his mind without fail.

At the very least, Lucien believed himself to be a good judge of character. Whether this was true or not wasn’t really within his mind to answer, but he would like to believe that he could tell someone who was a “Friend” from “enemy” at glance.

“I assure you that we have the same goal though; to defeat those who would threaten the stability of the world. Those “monsters” are gonna pay, but if you lose your head like this now, in combat someone is going to trip you up. Gotta protect against those sorts of things, ya know?”

Lucien was the sort to always keep a cool head about combat, even if he did tend towards enjoying the thrills of battles. Simply put, even if Lucien were to lose himself to this beastial calling, his skilled developed over many years would still shine through. After all, he was methodical about combat; only taking assured steps towards victory unless he had made a deal otherwise.

“But if we are friends, let us grab a drink together sometime! Ain’t nothing like a good drink between friends! Whahahahaha~.”

“He’s at it again,” Seina simply replies with a sigh of disagreement.

-Fragments of Crimson-

"Please let's stay calm, everyone! Remember that we don't have the means to mask our Power of Existence at the moment, if the Weaver notices us, there's no telling what could hap-" Chiara said, trying to quell the rising tension, at this pave, the attempts of keeping everyone cool by the Bitter of Torturous Wilt would be for naught.

That is, Chiara was trying to, until the familiar feeling of not one, but two huge Seals being placed, caused her to go stiff and Seere to step in, "Too late, Chiara, it seems our guest of honor decided to come out for a dance." Indeed, two Seals of the magnitude of the ones placed just now and emitting a bone chilling sense of dread could only have been erected by a Crimson King such as the Weaver of Dreadful Legends, the amount of Power of Existence used just to cast them being enough to drain many minor Denizens dry.

"But, why did she-"

"Set up two Seals so far away from one another?" Farris said as she got back to her feet and trained her gaze at the direction of the nearest Seal, right across the bay, on Boston's International Airport. "One of them is a trap, a decoy, or...", Crockel completed Farris' statement with, "Or both. The Weaver is known for her shrewdness, it's impossible to predict what we will face by going to each of these places."

"Sadly, we don't have the luxury of waiting" Gizo said, interrupting Crockel's deliberation, before they began to dwell on time consuming tasks. "Yeah, the farthest Seal is about five to six miles from here, if I'm not wrong, that's the direction of Harvard. The other one is just one mile across the bay, at the Logan Airport; the flights should be stalled because of this storm, I bet the place is creeping with easy victims."

"We need to divide ourselves in two teams, Chiara, we'll go to the farthest target. Take whoever else can travel fast enough with us. The rest-" Chiara's Twin Crimson Lords said, alternating voices ever so often as they are used to, before being interrupted by Farris who was already checking her equipment and about to leave.

"We go to the airport." The Herald of Collapsing Warcry said as she exited the Outlaw Warehouse.
