Name:
Lee, Min-kyu
Nickname:
Leo (he goes by this primarily because most people remember it more easily than his real name)
Date of Birth:
October 27, 1990
Age:
25
Gender:
Male
Sexuality:
Heterosexual
Relationship Status:
Single
Sexually active:
No; He poured the last six years of his life into building his reputation within the advertising company, so he never had time for a relationship. Recently, he’s been having second thoughts though
Occupation:
Member of a TV Advertisement Think-Tank
Room Number:
TBA
In-depth Appearance:
Standing at 5’11 and weighing 170lbs, Leo has a somewhat lanky build. He exercises regularly though, so while he’s on the thin side, he isn’t just skin and bones. His hair is dark and a bit on the long side by male standards, but it is almost always well-kept. He has dark brown eyes as well that appear black in most lighting. As for his wardrobe, it is divided quite evenly between business and casual. When at work, he wears suits and collared shirts, but when out with friends or relaxing at home, he wears t-shirts and jeans. He has no piercings or tattoos, as he prefers to keep his skin clear of any permanent marks. It looks more professional that way, after all.
Habits/Oddities/Quirks:
• Always carries extra change in his pocket to give to homeless people around the city
• Can’t sleep after watching horror movies
• Toys with the clasp of his watch when nervous or deep in thought
Hobbies:
• Photography
• Running
• Watching movies
Secrets:
• Leo is dyslexic, but he doesn’t tell anyone because he doesn’t want to be looked down upon because of his disability
Likes:
• Almost every kind of food
• Animals (especially dogs)
• Puzzles
• People with a good sense of humor
• Nice cars
• Exercise
• Mario Kart (it’s the only video game he’s good at)
Dislikes:
• Alcohol (he will drink reluctantly, but he has a low tolerance)
• Horror movies
• Strangely enough, he dislikes peanuts
• Lazy people
• Rap music
Fears:
• Heights
• Snakes
• Failure
Personality:
Compartmentalized: Leo prefers to keep his work at work and his free time free, so while he has a strong work ethic, he doesn’t let his responsibilities consume his life. Because he puts all of his thoughts in separate boxes, he is also able to prevent discouraging events from ruining his day. He just doesn’t think about them when he doesn’t feel the need to. In a way, this also has a negative effect though. He doesn’t know how to cope with his negative emotions because he ignores them.
Extroverted: Leo loves meeting new and interesting people. It’s the only reason why he goes to bars, since he isn’t much of a drinker. He is a socialite in the truest sense of the word, building relationships with as many people as he can, and maintaining deep, lasting relationships with those he cares most about. He isn’t loud, but he is proud and has quite the sense of humor, which makes him an easy person for others to feel comfortable around.
Optimistic: Leo doesn’t like to let life’s tragedies get him down. He has an infectiously positive attitude that affects almost every aspect of how he lives his life. “Every day has its ups and downs, but the ups are what matter most; Even if today went badly, tomorrow can only be better, right?” Thoughts like these are what drive him to try hard in all of his responsibilities, relationships, and hobbies.
Loyal: While Leo enjoys meeting new people and having casual banter with strangers, he is fiercely loyal of the people who matter most in his life. He gives his all to them, and he’s willing to drop everything (at least, everything he is able to) if they need him. This is a great attribute, especially for his friends, but it causes him problems when conflicts arise between the needs of his friends and the needs of his work.
Place of Origin:
Busan, South Korea
History:
Min-kyu was born in South Korea just two years before his parents became naturalized citizens of the United States. They moved to Pennsylvania with him shortly after, and this is where he grew for most of his childhood. In all, he had a fairly uneventful childhood in Pennsylvania. He went to school, made some friends, had the usual teenager angst… Through all of it, though, he developed a strong moral compass and a desire to work hard at whatever he put his mind to. So, when his family moved to New York City (he was seventeen at the time), he was more than ready to take on the competition and make a name for himself.
Min-kyu (now going by his recently acquired nickname, Leo), finished his high school education in the Big Apple and spent the following year shopping his resume around at various advertisement companies. As low/middle-class immigrants, his family didn’t have the money to send him to college, so it was difficult for Leo to find a place that would hire him, but eventually he scored a job at Crossroads Film Inc. The starting pay was low, and he was only given the measly task of holding the boom mic, but it was the stepping stone he needed to get started in the world of advertisement.
Over the next six years, Leo’s combination of hard work and creative ideas won him higher and higher positions in the company. Currently, he is working as part of the Crossroads Film Inc. advertisement think-tank, although he aspires to someday become a director within the company.
Misc:
While the majority of his life was spent in America, Leo can still speak some Korean, and he can read/write Hangul.
EDIT:
As for relationships... I have none yet. If anyone would like to start off with our characters being friends or acquaintances, just let me know! I think it would make sense for Leo to start off with a couple since he's an outgoing person, but I don't want to just add people at random
@HushedWhispers Oh i forgot to tell you that Ida'll be staying at 501 if you havent noticed it yet o<o
@HushedWhispers Are all of the characters on the relationship chart? I think there were a few names missing, but I also might just be crazy
<Snipped quote by Summer>
You'll have to add Cameron, Ida, and Ryder in because they were put up after the sheet was. :}
<Snipped quote by Love Dove>
Okay, I'll do that!
@HushedWhispers Honestly same though xD
I admire you for taking on the task of GMing such a large RP though! I'd die if I tried to manage this many people
*polite claps*
<Snipped quote by Summer>
LOL. I did an apartment roleplay not too long ago with an even larger cast and I nearly pulled my hair out, to be honest.
But I think I am becoming a better GM. I have three or four active roleplays so I must be doing something right. Right? >.>
Speaking of that, I need to update my bio.
<Snipped quote by HushedWhispers>
Oh...
Oh my god...
You are the real MVP
*tried to GM three RP's once and had a metaphorical stroke*
I love all your post!
@HushedWhispers what day of week and time is it in the RP? I'd like to know
