As implied by the title, this is a mystery/adventure type game set in the world of Brandon Sanderson’s Mistborn books. It is set 5 years before Alloy of Law, and will take place in and around Elendel. Sound good? Read on.

STORY:

Lord Tevidian Tekiel the Third, High Lord of the most powerful banking family in Elendel, has disappeared. How? Why? No one knows. The constabulary are flumoxxed and while the broadsheets are a fountain of speculation, the Tekiels cry bloody murder against the kidnappers and the other noble houses of Elendel become increasingly agitated that an unknown force could strike to the heart of such a powerful institution.

As the city works itself up into a frenzy and the perpetrators are no closer to being found, Elendel’s senate has pushed and allowed for the constabulary to create a special investigative crew with far-reaching powers of inquiry and arrest. This new “17th Squad” as it is known will be a team of uniquely qualified individuals with the skills to see Lord Tevidian returned safely. They’re not just top cops either, or even cops at all. The idea isn’t that they have a brilliant record in the constabulary or even with the law. They just have to be able to get the job done.

So who are these people and what are their skills? That’s for you to decide. In this game, you will be playing the members of the 17th Squad as you delve into this mystery. Good luck, and remember: there's always another secret.

OTHER INFO:

I don’t feel like I have to write much here, because if you’re reading this far down, you’ve also read the books, right? You already know where Elendel is and what it’s like, how allomancy and feruchemy work, and all that good stuff. Still, here are a few useful links if you ever need a refresher or some specific details on the world.

Map of the Elendel Basin and surrounding lands

Map of Elendel City

Excerpts from the gamebook accompanying the Mistborn tabletop game, including a lot of worldbuilding details.

The Coppermind wiki, which is a bit patchy but still very useful.

Finally, this game was created before Shadows of Self and Bands of Mourning were published, so we'll not really be including any of the revelations that came from those books. You do not need to be familiar with them, because I was working solely off of Alloy of Law and the original trilogy.

I'll shelve this idea for a while.

...And now it's coming back.

Bringing this back now.

@Madninja324, @BlueAjah, @Dioxide, @Marra Mistborn, @EnterTheHero, @Free Faller, @Halo, @Crimson Raven, @Rhymer, @Dark Wind, @Gowi, @McFazzer, @Guilty Spark, @Teddyinahat, @Taaj.

So, if you're wondering why you were tagged here, in a Mistborn RPG, I searched the board for "mistborn" and your names came up as people who seemed to have enjoyed the books. Excuse the intrusion, but I thought that some targeted interest-checking was needed for a relatively small fandom. Anyone interested in this?

Hmm..

Yeah, quite possible...

This might be just what I need.

My only request is that Allomancer abilities are heavily regulated. We do not need five or six double gold running around.

That said, I would love to have a coinshot. A feruchemy skill would be cool, but is optional. :D

Yes, of course.

I'll be looking very closely at any metalborn abilities and combinations before approving characters, and it would be good to have a balance of abilities on the team. So yeah, not everybody can be an allomantic tank destroying everything in their path.
Aside from Miles, there won't be any double golds around, and since this is set five years before AoL, he will still be out in True Madil doing his job as a lawkeeper and not participating in this game (probably).

Coinshots are cool, though, and you could even play a twinborn. They are very rare, but, on the other hand, the 17th Squad are rare and talented people.

Haha, don't tempt me.

I often ask myself, "Which combination of abilities would be the most useful?" And I always arrive at the same conclusion; Allomanic Steel, and Feru iron. Sound familiar? Lol

Double gold would be fun, simply for comedic purposes.

Guy just walks right into a fire fight, reading a book or something, and doesn't seem to care that he keeps getting shot. Until his book is blown to pieces. XD

I'll give it some thought, though. Steel + gold could work or one of the odder ones, like Feru Zinc.

Yeah, Wax's abilities are pretty amazing. Still, I think part of that comes from having an entire book/series exploring all of the clever ways he can adapt his abilities to situations. As Kelsier said, "Allomancy is nothing but tricks", and we know all of Wax's tricks. It is totally possible that other types have equally awesome, non-obvious tricks to combine their abilities, but without the focus of the books, we just haven't seen them yet, and so Wax seems by far the most powerful.

Hopefully this game can do a bit of that exploration of the lesser-known metals.

Pretty insane to bring back a ten-month-old RP idea ahahaha

I haven't read the Alloy of Law series actually, and my memory of Mistborn is a bit rusty.... but this could sound very fun haha

You will need to have read at least Alloy of Law to understand the world in which this game is set. The following two books are optional. It's not very long or dense reading, so you could probably find and read it before we really get going here. You could probably get it through a library, or be possible to find the text online. Not that I'm condoning piracy.

Still, if you can find a copy, it would be great to have you on board. :)

Been a few years since I read Mistborn, actually. But I don't know if I'll have the time or not to try to brainstorm ideas for the prospect of this, it's really neat though.

Wonderful, wonderful. Welcome to the game, you two. I'll get an OOC up soon, and perhaps others will join us there.

And here it is.
