The year, is 2022. Mankind has made leaps and bounds in the areas of technology and medicine, and most countries have experienced a period of great wealth. But all good things must come to an end. The Emperors Entente, an alliance between Russia, China, and North Korea, all countries which had found themselves under dictatorial rule, is formed, and together, they begin to encroach on the borders of other sovereign nations, taking land. Other countries couldn't sit back and watch this happened. And so came the formation of the Paladin Coalition, led by the US, the UK, Australia, France, and Germany, the Coalition fought valiantly against the imperialistic mindset of their enemies.

But valiance does not win a war, and the Paladins would learn that. By the beginning 2024, they were losing, and the situation looked bleak. Citizens were calling for the usage of nuclear weapons, but as a last resort, the Sentinels were formed. The Sentinel Program, a group of gifted individuals from all walks of life who were called to the most dangerous tasks, the most brutal missions. They were a special ops team who saw the most success of any unit during the war. They became celebrities, heroes. And without them, the war would have been lost. By 2026, the Paladins had managed to turn the war in their favor, thanks to the Sentinels, and by November of that year, the Emeperors Entente had surrendered. The war was won, and democracies were instated in the countries that had made up the Entente.

Without any need for the Sentinels, the group was disbanded, sent on their way. While they were heralded as heroes, featured in museums and documentaries, they were discarded, and soon the public lost interest. Many found work as mercenaries or assassins, and some retired peacefully. The world had no need of heroes anymore.





The end of the war brought a time of peace and prosperity. Technology once again began to flourish, and the creation of sentient machinery, Mechs, was a huge step forward. Mechs became common members of society, working and socializing with humans like never before, although this brought along it's own social problems. But past the surface, darkness still lurked.

In the defeated countries, people wanted revenge. Many of the citizens of the Emperor's Entente had supported the war, and now they were living in relative squalor. They wanted revenge, to see their people on top of the world, rather than taking the scraps from everyone else. These sentiments bred extremism in each of the defeated countries, and terrorist groups arose, groups who each wanted to put their country's people on top. Which brings us to the present.




The year is now 2039, thirteen years since the end of the war. The aforementioned terrorist groups have gained quite the foothold in the world, and their activities make the evening news nearly every day. The big three of these groups, the Shadow Cabal, the Talons, and the United Brothers, have been meeting, discussing the formation of one large group, made out of their smaller ones. Recently, an attack was made on the British royal family by the Talons, and the British government is calling for action. The world needs heroes. And so the world is going to get some. The UN has decided to reenact the Sentinel Program, calling in people from all across the globe to become part of it. From former Sentinels to former criminals, they are in desperate of aid in the fight against those who would see the world plunged into chaos. The Sentinels have been called to arms.





Have Fun - Please, I want this to be fun for all involved, so just chill out and have fun. If something is inhibiting that goal, let me or Blue know, and I can try and fix it.

Respect - Respect each other, as well as the rules. As the GM, what I say goes, and Blue as the Co-GM holds similar power. If one of us says something isn't right, then it isn't.

Drama - Keep it in the IC. IC drama is encouraged. These are characters from all walks of life, of course they won't get along. But don't let that drama bleed into the OOC. If there is an issue, bring it to me, don't fight among yourselves.

Posting - I try not to be too insane about posting rules, but I do expect about two paragraphs of non-dialogue in each post. I think that's reasonable and if you think otherwise, then please bring it to my attention. Also, I would like people to post at least twice a week, preferably more but I understand people get busy. If you'll be unable to post for a few days, just let me or the other Co-GMs know. Last but not least, make sure two people have posted before posting again.

Characters - I want to see interesting characters, with flaws and whatnot. They shouldn't be perfect, in fact far from it, and they definitely shouldn't be overpowered and indestructible. I expect you to put effort into making a character, and if you need any help, ask me or Co-GMs. Also you can use any character picture you want, whether it's realistic or Anime.

PG-16 - This will be a pretty intense RP, and there'll probably be some violence. Try to keep it to minimal gore. While I condone a balanced amount for certain scenes perhaps, we don't want some people puke when one's reading about how your character killed a thug. That's a little unnecessary. As for romance, when clothes start coming off, fade to black or take it to the PMs.

Miscellaneous - All the common rules still apply. No godmodding etc etc.













1001 Fonts - For headers and making text look pretty.
Color Hexa - For picking a dialogue color for your character.
Face Claim Directory - For finding any realistic face claims for your character if you so happen to want a realistic picture.

@Awesomoman64 I did, but they're more on the optional side. But while optional, it's recommended. However, its your choice to add them in or not. In fact, you can always come back to it later if you can't think of any/enough.

@Ursane Now this is an interesting character (Also I do apologize for the trouble one has when creating the CS. I'll be fixing that in a bit, again not my original design), however there seem to be some things that come to my attention in the abilities.

First off, when the orbs attach onto the player, how long would each effect last? If anything, I suggest it should be for a few seconds.

Secondly, 60% enemy speed reduction/buff time seems to be a little too high don't you think? A slight boost would be fine, like maybe 20%, 25% or up to 35%, but 60% I think is too high. Ultimate can be 50% I think, but again, I need to first know for how long will these be on before I move further in.

@Lmpkio Thanks! This is another character idea I've been playing around with and I'm glad to be able to implement it. 25% slow on Configuration: Construct seems totally fine, and 50% for Polarity as well. The Orbs were originally supposed to follow them indefinitely, but I definitely see the balance issue with that. Maybe 5 second duration to make Polarity a little more accessible? Balance compromises are always fine though, like I was looking to get a 0.25 second stun on enemies who come through the portal +0.25 seconds per extra ball on the portals (up to 1 second with 6 balls on each one), with which I'd think 3 second duration on the passive is totally balanced. Most of his crowd control is soft at this point, so a very brief hard cc would be wonderful.

@Ursane I also forgot to mention that how the orbs behave actually remind me of Zenyatta, which is a cool thing to see.

Anyways, as for the abilities, now they look more balanced indeed. Construct at 25% works and Ultimate Polarity at 50% is also balanced as well.

Time wise, 5 seconds is also pretty balanced for Polarity.

But overall, if I'm looking at this correctly, the other abilities will last up to 3 seconds, correct, or just for the Transmit? If your case was the former, than feel free to post your character in the CS. :)

@Lmpkio Oh, I was talking about the duration on the passive. Let me know how long you'd like the balls to remain attatched to their targets for the passive for clarity's sake?

As for the other abilities and their durations, I was thinking;

On Configuration: Construct, the wall would last 4 seconds, the slow would decay over 2 seconds once they get through the wall.

On Configuration: Repair, the field would last a total of 10 seconds so it could be placed in a defensive location for allies to poke and cone back to heal up. However, once an enemy enters the field, it only last up to 4 more seconds. So if a field was created on top of an enemy, it would last 4 seconds, if an enemy entered 3 seconds after creation than the field would have a total lifespan of 7 seconds, and if an enemy enters the field at 7 seconds the field would still end at 10 seconds, not 11.

For Configuration: Transmit, 3 second duration on the portals is fine but 4 seconds would probably be better for balance so enemies have more of a chance to enter? Also, it keeps with the even number theme.

For the Ultimate, I'd shorten the buff/slow durations to 4 seconds to nerf it a bit as well as keep it thematically.

Also, it should be noted that the physics of the Orbs are slightly different than Zenny's; the float through the air when given normal movement commands, but when an ability is activated (including attaching to an enemy) they warp to the target with a non blinding flash of blue light.

@Ursane Ah attachment wise? 3 seconds before breaking sound good. Its an equal ability that allows for the orb to break successfully or have the opponent rip it out. Its a 50/50% chance so its good.

Construct: Looks good.

Repair: Also looks good.

Transmit: I can be generous and give it 4 seconds, so sure.

Ultimate: Looks good.

And yes I do know that the physics are different, but are otherwise a bit similar.

But yeah, otherwise, everything looks good. Add in the time limits and then feel free to post your character in.
