Based on the title I'm sure you've figured out the basic idea of this idea of mine. I've decided to see what kind of interest this could build tonight before I write the idea out more fully tomorrow. For a baseline, you may imagine Pacific Rim, Evangelion, Attack on Titan. Generally anything with large nigh unstoppable monsters. Please leave suggestions and questions down below and I'll get to them after I've had my morning tea.

It would be interesting to see a roleplay in which the players really are weak and nearly defenseless against the monsters. I think numerous and varied monsters with characteristics ranging from the deadly intelligence of the xenomorphs all the way to the sheer power and size of the titans roaming a world populated by sparse human survivors trying to last another day in any way they can would be interesting.

Perhaps two to three known species of creatures with various sub-species could be implemented to prevent things from getting stale with the same enemies, but also controlled so new monsters don't just get created left and right.

I like the idea of a futuristic world brought to ruin in some way or another, so advanced technology is present but not always common or in working condition. Seeing people play as cyborgs, androids, or straight up robots alongside regular humans would please me personally.

The players could have their own personal drives and goals, while a good overarching mission could be to find a sort of "kill switch" for the creatures, a working vessel that can carry them away from the planet, or perhaps a city/location that is fabled to be impenetrable against the monsters.

Having it written that "the end" arrived around twenty years before the role play starts would be a good idea, I think. Characters with multiple perspectives would be present, with some having been born into this world, while others would either have been very young when it happened or perhaps have had their own lives going for them before it was all ruined.

A good system for worldbuilding would be to allow people to write (within parameters you set of course) their own locations, technology, people, and cultures into their backstories, giving you a plethora of lore and content to work with when managing this world for everyone.

There you go, plenty of suggestions for you. I say why ask questions when you can create the answer yourself. :)

I'm quite interested in this idea and I'd love to participate and help develop it. Personally, I think BurningCold has some fantastic ideas, as well. I'll stick around for more.

As a big fan of all those films, as well as with other Kaiju films, you've caught my undying attention. :) If we can play as a kaiju, I would make a character immediately!

(I have ideas for mechs/cyborgs as well too)

I havent read much of this, just the OP. I saw someone said a bunch of stuff in the second post... havent read it. As such, Id like to commit my interest.

Also, my suggestion is also to have based interests off the Kaiju films from Japan. Not all monsters have to be actually intent on destroying the world or destroying all of humanity. We can even have kaiju that are allied with Earth (not exactly with the humans, but say a common goal so that they can keep their territory in check and keep Earth from going to complete shit).

That being said, extra-terrestrials can also have a beef with Earth and may even send their own kaiju, cyborgs, robots, and etc to invade as well. I think some of my ideas can also be worked out with Mr. Cold as well, so keep that in mind.

Here some answers and decisions I've made!

• There is a fixed number of giant monsters, but definitely more than one.
• There are lots of smaller monsters of all shapes and sizes, basically if you can imagine it, it exists.
• I will not retain absolute control over the monsters, whoever is closest to the giant monster will control it.
• It will be about 20 years since the last of the giant monsters came through.
• There are also medium sized Kaiju that are more numerous than the really giant ones.
• The giants and mediums really don't actively seek humans, they are instead driven towards population centers and usually live in the ruins of dead cities.
• The smaller monsters either hunt for food or just kill indiscriminately.
• I'm still working out exactly how to implement cyborgs/robots/Jaegers.

@Marshall I still think that there should be a natural kaiju force (earth defenders) that fights off the evil kaiju but at the same time not caring too much for the humans. Think of Godzilla 2014 ("Nature has an order. A power to restore balance"). Of course, there should only be a handful of these kaiju of course.

@Marshall Alright then. At that case, what will the kaiju look like? Pacific Rim/Evangelion-like?

@Lmpkio I imagine they would all have different characteristics. The whole group doesn't need to have one set appearance. Kaiju just translates to "strange monster", so they could be anything.

@BurningCold Perfect :) If you can show me a CS for bother the mechs and Kaiju, I'll get to work on making one of each immediately.

Edit: I thought I was talking to Marshal, excuse me. I'm sure they do, but like are they in the form of Pacific Rim-like creatures or just any kind.

My image for this RP sets the Kaiju as Pacific Rim like more than Evangelion. Also, here is some things that I've decided.

This seems like it could be fun. I'll probably be playing as a cyborg sort of character, once we get more info on those~

@Lmpkio If you want to walk around in a mech covered in decaying meat, go ahead lol. But really, the Kaiju are much closer to the Kaiju in Pacific Rim.
