@BCTheEntity I need to read through the Backstory, but the rest looks all good.
As for the rest, I will take characters through the weekend and see whether we will have enough players to start on Monday. Otherwise we'll see for a better time to open IC.
@Dark Eternity Sweet. If you want a condensed version, the backstory basically goes like this:
Was trained in use of the Ripple for most of his life by his parents, who are both Ripple masters;
His parents told him not to tell others that he could use the Ripple or to use it on others;
He decided "screw that" and began routinely beating the crap out of bullies throughout his school life;
Teachers mostly wrote off his actions since they didn't really hurt innocents, including adapting to get him to do school well academically;
Parents got fed up with his rebelliousness and kicked him out of the house at 19;
People didn't want to hire a guy who was known for being violent, and he ended up in a gang led by a psychopath;
He quickly beat up the psychopath until they fled, took his place as gang leader, and reformed it into a group to help the community;
The psychopath returned as a vampire, turned a large chunk of the gang into zombies, then got melted by the Ripple along with his army;
Nick is now on the prowl for people to help return his group to its former size, as well as other protectors capable of wielding the Ripple themselves.
EDIT: I've added the condensed backstory to my sheet, and hidden it and the full version in hiders so they don't take up too much extra space.
@Dark Eternity I think there's still a few players whose sheets you need to look at. You might want to see about doing that before setting up the IC. Just a thought.
@Keksalot and @Altasaire have to finish their co-characters, if they still wish to do so. The stand is approved, the sheet lacks the characters, though. In the case that Keks wants to play by him-/herself, then his char is approved.
Whoops, didn't see this little tidbit above. That's embarrassing, but ehhhh life of a newbie. Allow me to throw a character sheet into the mix, my very first on the site. Yay!
Name: Rachel Wichita Lineman
Age: 20
Gender: Female
Appearance: A small-framed young woman of Scottish descent, Rachel is unassuming, relatively short and mediocre in terms of beauty. She has long and wavy brown hair and eyes of pretty much the exact same color. There are little to no distinguishable marks on her body. No tattoos, scars or freckles, for example. Rachel dresses casually most of the time, never having to wear anything fancy in her experience. Simple shirts and sweaters coupled with a pair of secondhand leggings are her go-to outfit. It is worth mentioning that most of her clothes are stolen from thrift shops.
Backstory: Rachel was born in Wichita, Kansas and it was her birthplace that earned her the middle name that she's so ashamed of these days. Her parents were middle-class average Joe's and the family got by rather comfortably without much luxuries. Tragedy struck when she reached the age of 16, however. Upon driving home from having dinner at Rachel's favorite restaurant, they were suddenly blinded by a great flash of light, causing them to lose control of the car and crash headlong into a truck coming the other way. Rachel was fortunate enough to survive the crash with minimal injuries. Her parents had not. Now orphaned and with a lack of immediate relatives, she was left in the care of a local orphanage.
Her time in the orphanage was, for lack of a better word, lonely. Rachel found few friends in her fellow orphans; on the contrary, she was practically an outcast, being called 'creepy', a 'freak' and 'possessed by a demon'. Wait, what? A demon? Yes, during these arduous times, Rachel had materialized a Stand, but her teenage mind didn't know the concept of a Stand, let alone her non-Stand user peers. Fearing that this demon of hers would bring her and others more calamity, she ran away from the orphanage after stealing $500 from the supervisors.
The world wasn't kind to poor old Rachel. She had to get by living in abandoned spaces and doing oddjobs, becoming a wandering hermit. But as a plus side, she was given plenty of time to get used to her demon. An encounter with someone possessing the same powers helped in that. She learned that what she had was called a Stand and it was pretty much her soul given form. Life didn't really change for Rachel upon the revelation. She now had self-defense, but that was about it. A few more years she spent hopping from town to town until one day, she happened into Angel Springs.
For some reason, she felt as if she was meant to be here.
Likes: Southern-style food, sunsets, peace and quiet, dogs, street art, tall dark handsome men
Dislikes: Her middle name, cigarette smoke, the police, being scared, being pressured
Powers: Wichita possesses a Stand, which manifested itself when she was 16 years old. However, she would only be aware that it was a Stand and actually started to master it 2 years later.
Stand Name: 「SHINEE」
Stand Appearance: SHINee is a lean, androgynous, humanoid Stand, resembling a fighter plane pilot. Its body is mainly chrome-blue with black racing streaks across its arms. This Stand tends to stick close to Rachel, protecting her with its abilities.
Stand Type: Long-Distance
Destructive Power: C
Speed: A
Range: B
Durability: D
Precision: B
Development Potential: C
In-Depth Abilities: SHINee's powers are based upon light. It can produce blinding flashes of light in short pulses with 1 second intervals OR a constant emittance for up to 10 seconds, produce minute beams capable of mildly scarring flesh (but still fatal to the eyes) and even travel to a position at at an unknown speed at least leagues more than the speed of sound. While traveling at 'probably light speed' (referred by Rachel as PLS), it is also able to take Rachel with it to blink short distances or cover huge distances in a matter of seconds. This possibly making her the fastest woman in the universe. However, even if she can move at these speeds, she lacks the reflexes and focus for it; constant high-speed dashing makes her incredibly nauseous. SHINee is semi-autonomous. It can act outside its user's will to preserve their shared existence, but even it can only do so much. In terms of physical strength, SHINee's isn't one to write home about, nothing dramatically different from the average human's punching power and is pathetically frail (just like its owner). But how would you like a hundred punches coming at you at the speed of sound?
I post my character both here and in the character tab.
Name: Sabrina Zen Age: 22 Gender: Female Appearance:
Backstory: The Zen family has been known for their restaurant that they have kept in Angel Springs shortly before Sabrina was born. The restaurant stands in the middle of downtown and is known as the best Chinese Restaurant in the region. While the family is known to run the business together - each family member joining the staff officially with 16 - it had problems running smoothly during the late 90s.
Sabrina's family had financial issues when her father became ill and had to be treated. Hospital bills stacked up and the family grew apart for a while, their ideas of their future leading down different paths. Sabrina was still too young to understand most of it, so she stuck to her mother that took care of the ill father.
One day, close to New Years Eve of 1999, a strange man offered help in exchange for a student learning his technique that he called "the Spin". Struck in awe that the man simply cured Sabrina's father with a simple steel ball, the then six-year-old wanted to learn this technique. The man said she was too young, but would return when she was old enough to learn.
Shortly after middle school, she was approached by the man and began her training.
For the past eight years, Sabrina was in school, trained the Spin and worked in the restaurant as waitress. Other than that, she lived rather uneventful. She rarely dated anyone and those she dated were quickly driven off by an overcareful father. That left her in the care of the family and she gladly became part of the restaurant.
Her teacher left her just mere months ago, mentioning that she was fit enough to train on her own.
Likes: Chinese food, people, outside, family. Dislikes: Loners, good food gone waste, horror figures. Powers:The Spin - Along with the basic control of the Spin, Sabrina learned to focus on using steel balls to accelerate healing factors of those she treats. As her training offered more field of testing, she created her own Steel Balls that, when thrown at enemies, would throw off their sense of seeing and balance. 「You Spin Me Right Round」 will make people feel like their surroundings tilt to the right, the illusion even so far as to let the eyesight think the same, letting the visual image in the eyes spin clockwise. This works only when hit with two balls simultaneously and lasts for up to fifteen seconds, depending on the physical prowess of the target.
She uses regular Steel Balls when using the regular Spin techniques, but she has four Special Steel Balls that can induce 「You Spin Me Right Round」.
Names: Joshua&Joy Joestar Age: 17 Genders: Male&Female Appearance: Joshua is, thank to his heritage and rugged genetics, unusually large for a man of his age, standing at about 6'5'' with mighty muscles like cliffs clinging to an overall mountaineous - by the age's standards - physique. His black straight hair are of middling length and are neatly combed and arranged into a side-part haircut. His face is slighlty elongated vertically, with a prominent jaw, large eyes and acquiline nose and constantly bears a very warm and kind, if not outright happy expression. He is a bit on the pale side. Joy is smaller and generally more... feminine, as befits a female, of average build and soft and attractive facial features. She wears her hair long and dyes one half of it red. There is boundless energy and enthusiasm visible in her every movement even if she attempts to actively conceal her excitement with life. Both Joestars wear mostly casual clothing but display an affinity for colors red, black and white.
Backstory: When Joshua and Joy's mother, a devout purehearted christian woman and wife to George Joestar V, whose ancestors have abandoned England in favor of new unexplored lands during the colonisation era, was on the 1st month of her pregnancy, she went out to their backyard at late evening to watch some fireworks. In a freak pyrotechnics accident, one of especially big rockets landed right at her feet and exploded before she could react, a thin shard of it's casing shooting right through the poor woman's abdomen and exiting her between the ribs, miraculously leaving all of her vital organs untouched - but only she survived completely unharmed. The embryo from which her children later developed, was grazed by the passing shard, passing onto it strange and bizzare powers - that became split between the twins when they became separate entities, linking them forever on a level much deeper than just flesh and blood.
Twins were born healthy and extremely loud, both bearing no disfigurements save for the curious matching birthmarks and small scars of uncertain nature on the soles of right feet, both grew up to be even healthier and louder, both proved to be somewhat delinquent in matters relating to school - their family was quite content with the fact that they performed splendidly at subjects thet they actually liked and maybe spoiled them just a little tiny bit. They grew up to be quite interesting kids - incredibly meddlesome to the point of being nigh-omnipresent, disregarding of authorities, full of energy and, absolutely deprived of petty cruelty, psychological issues or unhealthy obsession with internet so typical for many modern kids - neither has ever passed through the infamous "edginess" phase, none of them has ever spoke anything along the lines of "i hate you, dad", and they haven't ever staged an elaborate prank or an act of childish vandalism out of meanness or malevolence instead of an earnest desire for a hearty laugh and thrill of doing something that's forbidden. Of course, they regularly break the curfew erected by their kind mother, but make sure to never break her heart by not being in their beds when she wakes up - and they always do the dishes and never go against her word when she REALLY means it. Their Stands have been with them their whole lives - a sudden and strange manifestation did not corrupt them or inclined them to abuse it, instead being a harmonic, controlled part of their beings that is only utilised when they want to - usually to mess with someone.
Like: Joshua - sushi, frozen kit-kats, animals, fantasy settings, wrestling, interfering with all interesting things in sight. Joy - maltesers chocolate balls, pranks, making friends, fucking around in fruity loops, producing music, sci-fi. Her mixtape is fire. Dislikes: Boredom, inactivity, jerks, actively studying. Powers: 1) 「Two Tickets To Paradise」 takes the form of two gaunt, skeletal dwarves of metal-like material, which sketches their outlines, but is rather empty inside, each dressed in a cape and hat with crown, with long, curly hair. Joy's is greyish-white, while Joshua's is red. The joints of the stands aren't there — it is as if held together by an invisible force.
Destructive Power: C Speed: B Range: C (three metres†) / A (unlimited) Durability: C Precision: A Development Potential: B
This Stand has the following abilities:
Gonna Leave Tonight: 「Two Tickets To Paradise」, upon touching an object in its area of influence, may teleport it to any point up to three metres from either Joy or Joshua. Trip So Far From Here: Whenever an inanimate object is teleported into another inanimate object, a shape for it to fit is 「erased」 from the target object. The excess material vanishes. †† Both of Us: As long as either 「Ticket」 has body parts left, they can freely swap excess limbs, by teleporting them with 「Gonna Leave Tonight」. This means that in a pinch, either Stand can acquire an additional set of arms to punch or touch things with. Either 「Ticket」 can also freely teleport their own body parts in their sphere of influence, as long as it stays fairly static.
——————————————————— † Personal ranges follow the general rules for stands, but the familial bond overrides that, so the Range ranking is a split variable. †† This vanishing works similarly to Stands like 「Cream」 or 「The Hand」, except for the fact that it is more limited in scope of effect and doesn't work on living things. At least for now.
2) Joestar Family Secret Tecnhique Imparted unto them by their father, who is currently far away overseas on business matters. Both Joshua and Joy are at very least acceptable athletes and can run really really fast.
@Lurkerlurks Kijo's pursuers sound like the sort of punks Nick would get involved with. Do you mind awfully if I have him face off against them? It works as both a demonstration of his abilities and a way for him to be noticed much too hard by pretty much everyone in a 100 meter vicinity, up to and including inside the restaurant.
Kijo actually stole from a mob boss :3 but sure i don't mind, that and it'd push characters together. You can play four of them and I can play four of them if you'd like :3 That way we aren't just fighting and roleplaying with eachother, and if anyone else wants too grab a thug, go ahead :3
If anyone else would like too do some character plotting wiff Kijo, please feel free too ask.
@Lurkerlurks I was gonna suggest three thugs period, but four and four works just nicely too. Pushing the Ripple's limits never hurt anybody, after all, hahaha... ha.
I tend too play multiple characters when i really get into roleplays :3 so if you would be more comfortable with three, please go ahead- remember a thug got hit by a car so that could also work XD;
