@Kho Eh, since Arcon is a naturally growing planet, I bet there are entire regions that would still be somewhat tribalistic even as stuff like clockwork and steampower is invented.

@poog the pig@LokiLeo789 If you know anything about my prior writings, what's coming for the Arconians is like how gunpowder phased out the use of armor. A slow bladecaster is a dead bladecaster. That, and Logisian war magicks will change the landscape of combat for Arcon.

As will the Boreale Schools and their own magics change the face of Galbar, and Lifprasil's meddling with things create Knights that would have only been myth on either planet. Logos is open to discuss these developments with the sprouting Emperor, being o so powerful; and o so knowing; Logos will surely have his own opinion on these things.

Both Elysium's Arconians and Lif's Alefprians will be changing forces on either planet, and Alefpria may eventually touch the universe with it's change.

I hope your realize you're helping Lifprasil if you do this - it was always his intent to improve the world.

Lifprasil doesn't understand how crafting empires works. You give people your tech AFTER conquering them.

I said it becausen I'm not seeing a lot of activity from anybody else except Amartia - the Angels seem blissful in their current state, and the ogres haven't done much except get lewd remarks from Astarte. Alefpria probably won't expand as much, but it will attempt to remain an advanced civilization willing to trade ideas and goods.

And, Lif would just be happy knowing the general state of living for sentients has improved. YOU CANNOT WIN, DADE

I'm actually having a bit of a writer's block because I don't know how to progress from the war with Grot. Due to this, I'm really just waiting on poog for more information about the peace summit and stuff before I continue with my post.

@Rtron
DO THE IMPOSSIBLE
SEE THE INVISIBLE
ROW ROW FIGHT THE POWER!

Edit: I just did that real quick because my battery was dying - I know it's impossible, but Lifprasil doesn't; he thinks that eventually, by some force of will, he can unite all sentients happily, under one banner.

But before he unites a quarter of Galbar, rebellion happens.

EDIT: Well, maybe an eighth would be more accurate, considering the size of the planet.

Considerng how nice Alefpria is compared to the rest of the world (currently), all I can think of is this

"Alright! Aside from trade, architecture, boats, magical wooden maids, magical wooden horses, sanitation, AND a reliable food source - what have the Alefprians ever done for us?!"
"Brought peace?"
"PEACE? don't make me laugh!"

(Honestly, Lif is probably gonna fail horribly.)

Yeah, Lif and Falas got some talking to do, I'm basically gonna come back from Scotland, and probably end up tackling several collabs to make up for lost time. I also got a few short story ideas based in Alefpria.

So what should the overall population of Amestris as a whole? Would somthing from 5,000 to 10,000 people be a stretch. Then in terms of millitay strength, which I need to reorganize, I imagine about 15 to 20% of the population wouldn't be a stretch since Sin is sporting both a fulltime Pro army and a conscripted army.

It's truly a great toll to maintain a standing army of like 2% of your population. However, during times of war you could probably just levy about a 35% of your population as soldiers. Naturally they're untrained and don't want to fight, and they can't fight all year because if they do then not enough people will be home to harvest the crops and so on.

Edit: As far as actual size of the civilian population, I'm not sure what to tell you. I'm not caught up with all the IC posts and therefore don't know if Amestris is just one city or an entire kingdom or something. For comparison, the Vetruvian Kingdom based in Vetros (as of my upcoming post) spans up and down most of the Mahd River and it probably only has a little over 10,000 people in it. At this point, cities are rare and what few there are probably have only a few thousand people at most. But it's feasible to have a ton of little villages united under one ruler.

@Rtron

My hands are pretty tied with the ogres. I can hardly do anything believable with them creating an army and such until we have at least crude metalworking, and who knows when that will actually happen since it's been right around the corner for the past 3 months or so.

This was one of the reasons why I've been really itching to get out of the Stone Age. Fortunately I still can write about Vetros, and I'm about halfway through a really big post covering that and Zephyrion's latest doings (even though I'd hoped and said it'd be done a day or two ago). 17,500 characters are on the post so far though, so when it finally does come out it might be something worthy of what Termite would make.

Not sure about the overall population (seems fine) but the militarised proportion is too high unless it's predominantly reserves. Full-time soldiers need food and supplies and don't contribute too much to the economy (maybe brute labour in strength training?) so the city needs to support them as well as itself.

So it would probably depend on directly on how high Amartia's taxes are and how much industry is in his payroll. Say a tenth of each family's production in a city of just under 10,000, assuming each family is self-sufficient. Atrocious maths aside that's ~~9000 producers feeding and clothing 900 government workers total, ignoring extra demigod expenses.

That number obviously gets way bigger assuming that Amartia also gets tax from the surrounding countryside (he will), but the bigger the army relative to the city, the more the city needs to be organised like a massive barracks, which needs even more infrastructure (ask Kangutso) or the more the army needs to be based on an elite core and a moshpit of reserves.

And now I just got ninja'd by Cyclone who said basically the same thing. Goodness.

17,500 characters are on the post so far though, so when it finally does come out it might be something worthy of what Termite would make.

@Antarctic Termite, yes, Violet can join in on the village battle (if we don't accidentally nuke the horde or something during the avatar battle, but we're trying not to).

Re technological progress: as soon as I finish this horde village battle, Gerrik is going to be free to do what I want him to do, so I can go and start advancing hain civilisation (agriculture, martial arts, precursor to writing, calendar, other technologies which are currently only local, etc). It won't be anywhere near making cities, but the effects will be close to global.
