Sorry I overlooked this. For starters, there is a Christmas-equivalent that celebrates the birth of Saint Fiorentino, and an Easter-like vigil recognizing the day he passed on to God's fold. I purposefully wanted to leave the nuances of religion vague, as players will likely have regional differences in the ways they observe the rituals and services; with the nitty-gritty of practice largely left off-screen, secondary to the main story and characters within.
We'll call the Christmas-equivalent "Day of Conception," or "Conception Day." And let's call the Easter-equivalent "The Passing," or "Passing Day."

Visually, imagine Fiorentinan mass much like you would a Catholic one in a great city like Rome - an introductory rite, reading of scripture, rites preparing the altar, dialogue between the congregation and the priests in psalms, concluding prayers, etc. There isn't a communion equivalent, since Fiorentino didn't have a Last Supper-type of gig. Picture choirboys, braziers billowing incense as they swing back and forth, lots of gold and red, droning chants, yadda, yadda.

My idea was to have the RP take place from the Fiorentian perspective, with a sprinkle of Timlukid POV here and there, but if you're dying to get into the Timlukids' heads, then I don't have a problem with setting up characters or scenarios outside your nation's boundaries.

This did start as a NRP, but if you'd like to move into a wider direction, with active world-building on top of the groundwork, by all means go wild! I'm all for some creative liberty and coloring outside the lines.

Me and Hyg have pretty much finished our second collaborative post; it should be going up pretty soon. And then afterwards I'll have to work on my next solo post. But we are still here. :D

Soooo how long could I survive as a nation of heretics? Would everyone declare crusade against me at once? Perhaps I could play some kind of heretical religious order hiding in the shadows rather than a single nation.

Publicly, not very long. Every Fiorentian nation has Ambrusian administrative offices, and garrisons of knightly orders that answer to the church. The religion is a deep-seated and pervasive one. That said, there may be a few maverick nobles that practice occultism in secret, or hedge witches that consort with magic in the deep of the woods. If a king should be branded a heretic, then he would be excommunicated, and the knights militant in his nation would likely maneuver to wrest control into direct Pontifical hands. Of course, the closer one is to the Pontificial States, the more prominent the Ambrusian influence will be.

That said, anything could happen - if multiple nations were to go heretic at the same time, who knows how the ensuing civil strife could affect the western world? If someone creates a Martin Luther character and creates a movement to rival the Ambrusians, the kingdoms could very well be plunged into a war of religion.

You're free to do with your nation as you wish - but remember, every action has an equal and opposite reaction!

Although, I personally think now would be the best time for a heresy or pagan religion to rise up now. With the Timluks about to declare Jihad and the Ambrusians frequently infighting, the ensuing conflict will weaken both great religions, thus bringing an opportunity for them to be eliminated. It won't be easy though.

Well, that tag didn't notify me for some reason. Yes, it is.

Also, might take me a bit to start reading and catching up. If I can get a small summary that'd be great. Don't worry though, it wouldnt keep me from looking over the IC. It'd just let me have something to grasp beforehand lol. I just got into my new apartment yesterday.
