Name: Captain Morgan
Age: 76
Gender: Female
Race: Human (Airborn)
Appearance: Stylish and piratical! Profession: Privateer Captain
Personality: Morgan is a very... enthusiastic person. She's prone to extremes of emotion, and declaring people to be her friends for life or worst enemies ever at the slightest provocation, and then
following through with it, though moving from one category to the other is surprisingly straightforward (enemy to friend often involves violence). Doesn't seem to have the concept of an indoor voice down, either.
If you're her friend, you can expect her to go to the ends of the Earth to keep you safe from harm--and that anyone who threatens you is going to be in for a world of hurt.
Equipment/Weapons: Aside from her rapier, Morgan owns the sky-faring vessel known and dreaded as Marzipan. It is, in fact, a particularly large specimen of Skywhale. Whilst not as capable of carrying heavy loads as a normal airship, and definitely not as outright physics-defying as a purely magical vessel, she's much tougher, and capable of moving extremely fast if prompted.
She's not terribly shiplike: her back actually has a bunch of small houses on it and the like, and... well... Marzipan's primary armament are two ENORMOUS cannons strapped to her sides. They do, in fact, contain some cabins, and have to be operated from inside. They tend to fire very fragile, explosive cannonballs full of some alchemical gunk: of all an airship's moving parts are stopped, it's a sitting duck.
Abilities: Morgan is astonishingly physically strong, and her skin alarmingly durable. Mostly, this leads to her catching other people's weapons (assuming there's nothing all that special about them) before they'd hurt her friends. This includes, for example, a minotaur's axe.
She also has the innate magical ability to pump enormous amounts of heat out of her hands: the more worked up she is, the more heat, to the point she can make anything in her hands outright
explode if she's being dramatic enough. And she often is.
Less aggressive skills include an amazing ability to predict the weather, along with navigate the skies, and a lot of experience when it comes to haggling over the prices of things.
Brief Backstory: Although born with the rest of her people, Morgan didn't really like it there too much and so, when she was old enough to choose what to do... she took all the money she'd saved, bought a young skywhale, and set off for Karstberg. For a few years, she did petty labour, waiting for Marzipan to grow up, and making friends with unemployed sailors.
And then Karstberg formally entered into a war with a more distant state. So she seized the opportunity, got a Letter of Marque, an commenced piracy and plundering all the city's enemies and any smugglers. In times of peace, she's focused more on policing the skies and keeping stuff off the black market, but war... well, she finds being a straight-up pirate a lot more fun.
More resistance, for one.
Race Name: Human (Airborn)
Race Description: Essentially a group of humans that decided living on the ground was beneath them many, many centuries ago. Given the originals' prodigious magical talents, and the magically infused diets that have resulted from shunning the ground like they do, the race as a whole is plain superior to humanity physically and health-wise, and the culture itself encourages magical talent. They are, however, exceedingly rare in normal society, and isolationist in the extreme.
Have lots of skywhales.
