Blame the sleepless, restless nights on insomnia since you have always grown accustom to having a difficult time falling into deep slumber. Yet when it came to waking up, it almost seemed accidental... While you snored and dripped with drool in unconsciousness, years ticked into decades, and then decades into a full century. Time passed like it was suppose to. Nature listens because its stubborn, but man-made machines are a different story. Devices can deviate from programming. The cryotank quit-- it disrupted your nap. So what was your course of action? You refused at first, withstood from destroying the mission's agenda. For two years, you survived on a food synthesizer eating three square meals a day. You gnawed on the bitter reality of isolation, surviving worse punishment than prisoners locked in solitary confinement. And though people break, you did not crack under the pressure to sacrifice either your own sanity or the destiny of your comrades who remained inside the cryotanks. Instead you exploded.
The Artemis was a hidden underground base constructed to protect and preserve mankind. A company known as Cryonautics specialized in the innovation of cryotanks. The earth escalated; it evolved in terms of advanced technology, however you could propose it also enhanced the means of conflict. Typical outcomes of an apocalypse resulted: famine, disease, death, and war. All things must come to an end, thus Cryonautics gingerly devised a plan to choose six people willing to spend multiple lifetimes stored inside of a cryotank. They called it, Project Renascence. At a designated period of time, the tanks would finally open and awake the sleepers, releasing them to discover the earth that they had long left. With this, it prevents the extinction of the human race and maintains both the culture and history that may have been destroyed and forgotten in its time of world wars. Before entering the tanks, the six were given a prep pill. The drug would steady and prepare their bodies and minds to undergo such an extreme feat. Taking the pill was their last memory.
At a single instance, the five exited the tanks. Yes, five, only five. The sixth had escaped his tank, two years ago. They cautiously stumbled through their new surroundings, they have never actually walked through the base. But instead, the five have only seen models of its concept.
You could hear the footsteps approaching as you sense hope shimmer a bit brighter-- you were no longer going to be alone. Excited but also frightened and anxious, questions bubbled in your mind. Would they be enraged, infuriated because you activated their tanks for a rude awaken from the base's main controls? You were in no position to make such an executive decision, but you did. And finally there was only one thing left to say, "T-the Artemis is not a base, it’s a ship. And we're not on earth, we're in space."

Characters
Welcome to Carvings of the Galaxy, a story centered on character development. As followed in the introduction, there was a twist- the six chosen to participate in Project Renascence became the six crewmates aboard the ship known as the Artemis. I left it on a cliffhanger to leave you asking what will happen next. There are two options to be decided, the first one being to repair the sixth member’s cryotank in order that the ship can meet its destination. Where the Artemis is going, that is for the sixth member to reveal it to the rest of the crew. The second option is to set course back to earth, carrying out the only thing you signed up for. Those are your two choices, but be prepared for twists and turns in your path. Remember however, you are the last of the human race- each one of you match humanity’s probability of survival. There is an equal number of males and females in order for reproduction of the race. I will post the character sheet in the OOC once there is are enough reservations.

Author's Note
So I'm kicking it back with my all time favorite genre, science-fiction. I thought this would be a cool concept, to have a roleplay centered on the preservation of the human race while adding in the involvement of a sleeper ship. Cryotanks leave many possibilities for things to go wrong, or even right. As written above, I'm striving for a story based more on character development. So, I'm looking for characters with very colorful personalities, having traits that really make them stand out. With that, I need active players that can commit to a roleplay. I would like to get a post at least every two to three days. As for language, romance, and violence, keep it all PG-13, including the OOC. Another thing that comes into question for a roleplay is the quality and quantity. Usually I prefer post at least 500 words long because I won't lie, I love long post with important details, it is the reason why I've decided to submit this in as advanced. But I'm not strict about it, because we are all here to simply tell a good story regardless of the word count. But yeah, there's that, my guidelines for the roleplay- hope to see you abroad the Artemis!
