Hey guys, I'm creating a RP that is basically a grimdark Jojo's bizarre adventure. Except instead of punch ghost, it punching and slicing shadows that detail the inner insecurities and flaws of their hosts.
Here is the backstory.
Backstory: Mercer City, a bustling town of people doing their daily schedule, day in and day out. As you guess, a regular city in northeast. But all that changed with the arrival of a strange unique artifact, called the revealing stone found in a aztec ruin a month ago and brought into the city's museum. And not even a few days after the stones arrival, a wave of dark energy is sent out through the city by the stone, encompassing the whole area in one night. Soon after, strange and disturbing ocurrences begin to rise, with property damage and corpses being found in some areas of the city. Medical and law enforcement authorities are baffled by these ocurrences, and if that was not enough, now they are being plagued by the ramblings of loons wailing about the arrival of a "god" who will bring about a "new era". If there might be a connection to the ramblings and the horrific and terrifying incidents, then maybe, just maybe that something more sinister might be lurking around the town. Or deep within the denizens themselves...
How the Shades work
-They represent your worst qualities in a strange or abnormal fashion, that is weird but useful in combat.
Ex: Guy who is perfect but hates imperfection has a shade that has three arms with knife appendages. Its uneven but the arms can make precise and perfect cuts and stabs every time.
-The host can control how far their shade can go, but it has limited range. Some go from 15 ft to 100 ft.
-some Shades excel in some areas (Offense, Defense, Mobility, Special Power) more than others.
-If the host is hurt, then so is the Shade.
-Shades can only be seen by other Shade hosts.
I think that about covers it, I hope this helps you create your character!! :D
Personality: Rachel is one of those rare sorts who knows exactly what she wants, and can almost effortlessly maneuver herself to achieve it, as evidenced by her very well earned PHD in aerospace engineering. Her primary concern is herself and hers, with minimal outwards sympathy for those who can't help themselves. Even with all of her courage and drive, she needs help coping with her life at the moment, and the weight of her jerkass exterior, minimal empathy, and drug abuse precludes getting the friends she could certainly use, and that she secretly longs for. Plus, she has a tendency of doing her best to be intimidating to others, and her apparent thuggish injuries and love of 'ass-kicking boots' doesn't help her efforts in making friends.
Appearance: Lilian is fairly tall for a girl at 5'8, and her shoulder-length red hair is kept in a single ponytail often. She commonly wears a black hoodie and sweatpants, being an overachiever in everything but giving a damn about today's fashion. She wears to mildly intimidate most often, with old combat boots she took as a gift from her grandfather that she makes sure to stomp around with when in public. Her right eye is covered in a bandage kept in place by a piece of cloth, and the rest of her body is mildly bruised. Her recent morphine addiction has also changed her general appearance for the worse, breathing uncomfortably shallow most of the time and with beady, constricted pupils.
History: Lilian was born into an accomplished military family, her father and mother being an Airforce pilot and a juvenile psychologist respectively. Her father, expecting a strong boy to continue his family's tradition, was somewhat disappointed to get two girls, but was very happy when Rachel showed interest in common 'boy's' activities nonetheless. Her upbringing was fairly standard all things considered, aside from disinterest in romance and the fact she was simply a bit smarter then the rest of her peers for a vast majority of her childhood, finding amusement when she swindled her friends for giggles.
She worked extremely hard for years, until just a few months ago she finally earned her PHD and left, having little care for the college life aside from educating herself. With a large amount of money stockpiled and bored out of her mind while looking for a job, she had a mild interest in outings for a while. The day of one of her friends' parties, a wave of darkness enveloped the town, and the morning after she was stabbed in her own home by a crazed burglar rambling about some sort of god. After she called the police and she was rushed to the hospital, she began to notice a figure was always watching her, almost protectively...
Now, with the help of her Shade, she looks for answers in Mercer City.
Appearance: BtFS shares the same silhouette as its master, Rachel, being an average looking female figure wearing apparently baggy clothing. However, BtFS always appears to be seen through a low quality digital camera, being heavily pixellated. The Pixellation clears when it's 'calm', usually due to Rachel taking a shot of morphine, but it can be forced to when Rachel or BtFS desires it. BtFS moves very lethargically, and has a myriad of needles on its body which are usually hidden or hard to make out. When Rachel is threatened, BtFS maneuvers with far more speed, and crackly, grainy audio can be heard while it guards Rachel's well-being. BtFS has no discernible features aside from its general shape, with no eyes, mouth, nose, or hair, ultimately resembling a mannequin.
Powers: BtFS, like its owner, is quite fragile, yet its actual tolerance for pain is superb. It appears that this same ability also dilutes the pain Rachel feels when BtFS is attacked, but the opposite doesn't seem to be true. BtFS has the same encyclopedic knowledge on many mechanical systems and engineering practices as its master. Its primary ability, though, is its power to feed on the energy and drive of nearly any target, biological, mechanical, sentient or non-sentient.
In the case of a human, for example, it can totally remove the person's will to live in two seconds of maintained, direct contact. In mechanical cases, it can completely suck the battery of a car or computer in roughly the same amount of time to 'feed' itself and temporarily empower it. It seems to have an almost infinite appetite in this regard. Beware the Friendly Stranger can accurately be described as a 'plastic cannon', being somewhat more durable then you'd expect, if only because it cares less about being damaged.

@Morpheus297 Welp... Lilith and Uriel are finally done. My infamous sibling team <3
Name: Lilith Jukodo
Age: 23
Shade's name: Calhoun (Of Celtic Origin meaning Warrior)
Shade's abilities: At the start, Calhoun starts out almost like a defensive Shade with a mask where a face would be. During the period in which the mask is in place, the Shade is diligent in protecting the intended target. When the Mask breaks, or is willingly removed from Calhoun, the Shade goes berserk, the attack raising exponentially, yet its defense drops leaving it as a glass cannon and ensuring that Lilith needs to chose her battles carefully when alone.
Character traits: Lilith is known for her extremely flexible moral standards
Positive:
Adaptable
Healthy
High Stamina
Negative:
Aggressive (Randomly)
Deceitful
Sadistic
Personality: Often seen as a pretty face, Lilith is able to get by with smiles and kind words in order to mask her real self. In an attempt to hide her real self, she puts on a kind facade in an attempt to hide her unstable mind from those who are around her. On occasionally her psychosis shows through and she becomes far more aggressive than she intends to be, often scaring people and giving her the appearance of a bipolar female or someone who suffers from MPD.
Skills:
Cooking
First Aid
Survival
Musician
Being able to remain ridiculously calm
Insecurities:Oh no… is my facade slipping? Can they see me for who I really am? No… no they didn’t notice that… good, they don’t expect a thing, they still think I’m a sweet woman with nothing to hide… yes… nothing to hide at all. No… no don’t pay too much attention to what I said, don’t read into it… come on, I don’t want to have to hurt you… just believe I am as you see me and not as I really am.
Name: Uriel Jukobo
Age: 23
Shade's name: Aasim (Of African Origin meaning Protector/Guardian)
Shade's abilities: Built to give the illusion of an attacker, Aasim is a defense based Shade who protects whomever Uriel wishes him to. With a high defense, Aasim’s offensive capabilities are pretty much non-existent, forcing him to rely on his sister, Lilith, when the two are together. When alone, he utilizes Aasim as a means of escape as he does not enjoy confrontation despite his ‘tough guy’ appearance.
Character traits: Uriel’s Morals are much more firm than his sister’s, but flexible when pushed.
Positive:
Healthy
Adaptable
Calm
Negative:
Blunt
Calculating to the point of Brutality
Impatient
Personality: A much nicer individual overall without needing a facade, Uriel hates fighting and would rather talk his way out of a situation than use his fists. However, should he be forced to fight, he has mastered the defensive aspects of as many martial arts styles as possible. Often seen as Charismatic, when with his sister he does most of the talking as she is known to snap at unexpected points, breaking the illusion her pretty face grants her.
Skills:
Defensive Martial Arts
First Aid
Survival
Weapon Restoration
Mechanically inclined
Insecurities:Do I really have to fight them? Come on… lets just talk about this, I don’t want to have to fight… its not worth it. So what if that’s what she said? You don’t have to resort to hurting someone to get your point across. Come on, don’t… just put your Shade away… don’t make me have to… I don’t want to fight… Don’t pull her into this too… I can’t stop her if she loses it. Stop, just stop, I’m can’t do this, I can’t…
I'm in! Though I'll probably use a character with different personality flaws from my real life ones - otherwise this would be the most OP shade ever haha... :D Will drop a CS when it's not 7am... holy crap it's 7 am already?! Bed, bed, bed...

You literally could have written anything after "Jojo" and I would have still been like, "Aw hell yeah." And then you actually wrote something pretty interesting! I think it's really cool how you mixed up the whole Pillar Men thing with the stand-giving arrow, and even set it in a place like Morioh! It's like the best of parts 2, 4, and 5.
Anyway! Here's a lil character that I managed to adapt to this:
Name: Kaitlyn Watson
Age: 28
Appearance: Kaitlyn isn't exactly dressed to impress. She wears black military-style pants tucked into large combat boots, topped off with a black sports bra. She also has a leg holster on her right leg in which she carries an untraceable firearm, and further down her leg is a knife holster with a tactical knife. She does have other outfits, and a couple of coats and hoodies, but this is her favorite, so she has multiple pairs of each article in the same color. As for her body, she's a staggering six-foot-three woman with a muscular, but not swole, build, despite having a relatively curvy frame. Although caucasian, she has very tanned skin, so you wouldn't be blamed for thinking she's Latino. Her hair is dark brown, almost black, and cut short for a woman, only reaching just past her ears. Her hair is also unkempt pretty much all the time, and taking a brush to it is next to impossible without loads of hair conditioner. Her eyes are a deep blue color, and in the right they look almost purple, like a demon's.
Personality: At the center of who she is is a stark constrast in self-esteem and self-confidence. The woman has very high confidence, going into fights or talking to people without a doubt in her mind that she's going to be successful to some degree. But on the flipside, she has dreadfully low self-esteem, thinking of herself as something less than human; a monster. She feels she doesn't really deserve to live, nor that there's any real hope she could possibly redeem herself or become a good person. Of course, Kaitlyn wishes to be free from her nightmare of a life, and silently pleas for a savior, but that doesn't change that she doesn't think it'll ever come.
That's not to say she doesn't have a will to live, but hers is more instinctual than a lot of others. In a life-or-death situation, she doesn't actually think, "I want to make it out alive." She just kind of... does it. And the fact she's survived this long makes her genuinely believe she has the worst luck in the world, because she's forced to keep living, through a combination of her body practically acting on its own to save her and "bad luck" (read: really good luck).
Around people, she acts calm and cool, with a tinge of snark, sass, and sarcasm. She's rather blunt and rude, not really treating people with very much kindness at all unless she takes some kind of interest in someone for some reason (which basically doesn't happen). Especially when she's about to kill them, or commit some crime; she's remorseless, essentially, feeling very little as a result of either killing someone or ruining their life. And it's not necessarily out of spite for the world; she's simply apathetic to the plight of humans in general. And this is why she thinks she's a monster; when she hears of a tragedy, she doesn't care. Same when she causes one herself. Her emotions don't function like a normal human being's; she's lost something essential to being human, and she can't figure out what it is.
And lastly, she's not super hard to get angry. However, pushing her over the edge is a difficult task. Insulting her abilities is a surefire way to get her pissed at you. But to get her raging, you have to bring up her troubled youth, insult her father, and most importantly, side with her mother. But, who knows what the RP will bring! People who've seen her get angry enough describe her as developing the countenance of a demon and giving off an aura of killing intent that's palpable and suffocating. Although, this doesn't happen very often at all, because angering her to this point is extremely difficult. It's only happened twice in her life.
History: You normally hear about an abusive, alcoholic father or stepfather that beats his wife and kid in backstories, especially for tragic characters such as Kaitlyn. However, this was very much the other way around during the woman's younger years. Her mother was alcoholic and did drugs and was the abuser in the family, scaring her father into staying with her despite almost daily beatings. She treated Kaitlyn even worse, having wanted a boy because she wanted to raise one to be an athlete, but unwilling to go through with an abortion because of her Christian faith. So, at an early age, she would regularly neglect Kait, leaving up solely to her father to feed her. As she grew older, Kaitlyn's mother began to beat her, growing more and more abusive as time passed.
But, eventually, Kaitlyn's father grew tired of it and bought a gun shortly after Kaitlyn's fourteenth birthday. But the mother found out and in a fit of rage shot Kaitlyn's father. In reaction, Kaitlyn stabbed her in the back with a knife from the kitchen and then shot her in the head. She just so happened to be wearing gloves after a cold day, so her fingerprints didn't show up and it was written up as a murder-suicide, while Kaitlyn was put into foster care.
It was too late, however, to undo the damage her mother had caused and the trauma that came with killing someone for the first time. And instead of allowing people to help her, Kaitlyn turned to gang violence and discovered she had a knack for combat. She got involved in progressively more and more dangerous things, culminating in her current job as a "fixer," a person who "fixes" any problems for a price, whether that be getting rid of a loudmouth or kidnapping someone who needs to be taught a lesson. Kait actually makes a fair amount of money doing this, but prefers to live in cheap accommodations, and never for very long at a time; in fact, she moves from place to place fairly regularly.
Recently, on the search for a man who skipped town, she came to Mercer City, and acquired a strange new ability. And in light of an increasing crime rate and crazy folks rambling about gods, she found this rather strange and has taken it upon herself to investigate just what the hell is going on in this place.
Strengths: -Lockpicking. -Information gathering. -Proficiency in hand-to-hand combat. -Proficiency with pistols. -Proficiency with melee weapons (bats, knives, brass knuckles, etc.). -Improvisation during combat. -Strong and fast (but not superhumanly so).
Weaknesses: -Can be overconfident and underestimate opponents. -Just as susceptible to wounds as any other human. -She's a bigger target because of her body size. -She's often reckless in combat. -Despite proficiency in hand-to-hand combat, she doesn't have actual skill or technique; it's just straight-up brawling.
Name: 「Animal I Have Become」, after the Three Days Grace song of the same name.
Appearance: AIHB starts out looking like a "normal" human female slightly larger than Kaitlyn, except nude (without any "naughty bits") and completely monochromatic minus glowing purple eyes. However, the angrier Kaitlyn gets, the more demonic her shade grows. Its skin turns a deep, blood red as it grows scales, claws, horns, and fangs. In its final "form," its face is replaced with a horned cow skull, while black ridges grow on the back of its arms and along its spine.
Powers: As Kaitlyn gets angrier, her shade grows stronger and faster. However, it also becomes much harder to control, and until Kaitlyn learns to control it, it'll begin acting independently of her will. In its base form, she can have her shade walk long distances; its only real use is scouting, albeit slowly. It can also use light weapons to kill normal people from afar. Her stand also has the ability to manipulate anger, although she has yet to discover this ability. However, she sometimes does it unconsciously, but not to a very noticeable degree. It only works well on weaker-willed people, though it's possible for her to increase this ability's power through practice.
It should be noted that the transformation is continual and more of a sliding scale than a set number of different forms, although it does have what can be considered a final form since it stops changing at that point.
Destructive Power: It starts out as a D, about as physically powerful as a child and thus able to do whatever a child is capable of, but when it gets to its final form its strength jumps up to an A+ ranking, capable of destructive output that surpasses Star Platinum.
Speed: It starts out at E, being able to walk slowly, but at Kaitlyn's angriest it has an A rating, being able to punch about as fast as Star Platinum.
Range: This goes from a B - being able to walk anywhere within two hundred feet of Kaitlyn. She can manipulate the environment and set traps, use physical weapons to try and kill people, and stuff like that.
Durability: At its base, it gets a C, being about as durable as Kaitlyn herself is. In AIHB's final form, it jumps up to a B, making it somewhat of a glass cannon considering how strong other shades can potentially be.
Precision: This stat starts out at a solid B, allowing for a decent amount of marskmanship for her stand. However, by the time the stand is in its final form, precision has been knocked down to a D, meaning it basically just attacks wildly.
Developmental Potential: This gets a B because there is a yet undiscovered power, and Kaitlyn has the potential to control her stand better by focusing and channeling her anger instead of letting it consume her.
Drawbacks: Unless she gets angry, Kaitlyn can't use her stand in one-on-one combat and must either run away or depend on her own physical body to do the fighting. On the flipside, if she IS angry and wants to fight, she needs to be very close to her enemies, which means having to possibly walk into traps or into the range of very dangerous abilities. Plus, it's hard to get her angry enough to unlock the full power of her shade. Not only that, but it's very unlikely she'll gain full control over her stand.
Well, I tried to balance out her raw power with what I thought were fair drawbacks, although if there's anything that needs to be changed or fixed, I'm very open to criticism.
That being said, I'm fairly sure I mixed up the word "shade" and "stand" somewhere in this app!
