I'm looking to invest in an MMO of some kind.

Wildstar, SWTOR, Archeage or Rift?

(No ESO, since it's not F2P and I'm broke)

I would not go with WildStar, I tried it and got so lost due to the world being too full of stuff. It is also so casual it made me feel dirty for playing... still scrubbing off what it left on me a three weeks later. ArcheAge is pretty good, but without enough friends the late game isn't much fun. also there is almost no social aspect to either game just party up, raid/fight, repeat.

Few of my friends bother playing MMOs anyway, so I'll probably do SWTOR and treat it as a single player game. Or GW2, since it's now free. Hoping I can run either.

ESO is only a one time payment though.

There's also a game called Perfect World, it's free, pretty good, makes it's money off one of those player stores.@Asura

I'd rather save my 20 bucks for food and useful things and blow my spare time on wholly F2P games. Guild Wars 2 is, thus far, charming.

I am greatly displeased with the current trends among the Guild in its roleplaying sections. Perhaps I just have at last reached the point of no return, but so many of these topics feel either flimsy from their inception to just their execution. Others seem like mirror images of the same topic - as though a player or viewer just up and left with the idea, modified it slightly, and reproduced it. It might just be today this illusion has fallen on me, but I have not been more frustrated in my search for a long term roleplay to join in some while.

If you are looking for a RP to host I have one that would be long-term, with room for a second story. It is completely fantasy based with a team of Champions much like Gauntlet but with a coming calamity that the gods need prepare the champions for, and could even have its own form of deities to be played. I haven't the time to actually host it, but if you want it I could send you the notes and whatnot.

Unfortunately I find myself in the mental space of "I have been running games for so long that I just want to participate for once on an extended journey." I admit though, that sounds like an idea that probably would find a good amount of success and for the right reasons. It has a base to function and expand from, but still sounds original enough that there's plenty of creativity to abound.

Yeah, I have the problem of trying to find the player number sweet spot with it, and getting people to stay past my first few character expositions. When I had everything straight (for about two weeks) it had a very heavily story driven plot to start where characters WERE SUPPOSED TO BUILD ON THEIR SKILLS, but the players were like "tl;dr lets just fight!" only two of my players knew what was supposed to happen while the others had none of that quality building stuff. I guess introducing main characters with 2 paragraphs of displaying who they are and why they can't just fight him now is too much for some people...

@Master Crim I also use steam. NMS isn't released for PC yet, to my understanding, and my laptop isn't for gaming. I don't have 1-1.5k to drop on a rig.

If you build your own computer a good rig can be made for 800-900, and I am not sure about the release date for NMS i lost interest when I wouldn't be able to explore with my friend.

Okay, good luck packing a full desktop rig into a suitcase when you travel to Latvia, dude. XD The console was more portable, but I didn't think I'd get to play it. I was wrong, could have packed it, didn't.
