Cheers luvs, an interest check is 'ere!
Alright, so I absolutely love Overwatch and I've been playing it avidly since release. I just love the animated shorts and the provided lore, and I think it has a lot of potential for fun interactions. I've been thinking a roleplay would be lovely. My idea was to allow both canon characters as well as OCs. This way, we could really feel the connection to the Overwatch world beyond mere terminology but still feel as if we are part of it with our own twists. :)
Some thoughts I've head on how I think it'd be run best:
- Missions that have a clear-cut beginning and end. Transition into and out of missions doesn't have to be played out, so we can avoid having slow periods that feel boring.
- Downtime can be played out. Agents could interact at an OW base or we simply include a bit of slice of life to get some color into the events.
- We could have an overarching plot, such as a new Omnic crisis or such, but I think individually created missions independent of one another are more fun. However, I'm open to opinions.
- OCs would be created in the same vain as in-game characters, just so we have a good grasp of what the character's like. I'd say we don't need elaborately detailed personalities and such, but rather a short blurb about their background, motivation, talents and such.
- I have decided that I do not want to GM a large-scale game for the time being due to personal reasons. Therefore I'd prefer a smaller cast. However, I'm fine with a larger one as well. What is important, however, is that I'd like everyone to pitch in. To create missions and take charge now and then. Overwatch is filled to the brim with a wide variety of influences and styles, and I believe a big collaberation (rather than an RP run by someone for others) would reflect that spirit.
- I think doubling characters would be fine, at the very least if one decides to play a canon and an OC.
- Since OW is more of a fun, quick-paced experience I think a solid two paragraphs are sufficent, though I definitely want people to put effort and thought and love into their posts and characters.
Would some peeps like something like that and participate?
