I've just got back from my festival. It was unbelievably amazing. Our tent got ruined so I was cold and wet for the whole weekend, but it was 48 hours of consistent partying, interspersed by playing music to lovely crowds. Our first gig was a nice friendly one on a small stage in a local venue. Our second gig was in the beer garden of small but nice pub and it was pissing it down: we were under cover, but about twenty people happily stood in the rain to listen to what we were doing (which is commitment). Our show yesterday, the penultimate band on the main stage, must have been to well over a thousand people and we were treated, for the first time ever, like actual goddamn rock stars with all the trimmings and an arena of people screaming for more. Backstage pampering and spoiling, including unlimited access to jelly beans and beer, and after our show, we couldn't go anywhere or do anything without people wanting to take their photos with us. The night before, my band were boring after our gig and went to bed like sensible adults, while I thought Nah Fuck It I'm Going to Find a Party, found a party, where people took my cheapass dirty cider off me, gave me some great cider ("You're not drinking that shit: have this"), passed me joints, and gave me a blister pack of major painkillers - and I fuckin' love me some painkillers, and was still with them until easily gone eight in the morning. When I woke up the following day, I had some food and lay down by the side of the stage while listening to acapella sea shanties, because I was tripping balls. I don't know why or how I was hallucinating, but I'm pretty sure the sky wasn't actually sparkling. But my god, that was a very pretty twenty minutes. I'm currently buzzing so hard I actually can't sleep and spent last night half-dead on the sofa because I couldn't work out how to stand up and get to the bedroom.
I got paid for this weekend.
10/10 would recommend to a friend
Catch you all up later on once I remember my name, have something to eat, and double-check that I brought all my limbs back with me.
