Dusk has settled and another day was about to come to an end. Looking back at what you had accomplished today, you realized that it wasn't much. Whatever problems you were facing were far from disappearing anytime soon. Frustrating, I can imagine. Sometimes, you just wish that everything would just end. If you probably had a different life, you wouldn't be forced to deal with such dilemmas. What if I told you that this was actually possible?
Before I go into detail, you must be wondering who I am. For now, you can call me Vega. So. imagine a universe in which all the stars of the sky are another world and that every world was a interconnected into one massive dungeon. Fascinating, right?
Here's The Plot to our little story.
I present to you, the Dungeon of Samarkand, a City-Type dimension. It is also, to its own knowledge, the only dimension that actively seeks to make extensive contact with other dimensions. It is, in fact, an intrusive dimension, if not a pirate dimension.
Its denizens are hunters of riches and soldiers of fortune, merchants that want to make it big in foreign and exotic markets, adventurers and fearless ethnographers, collectors of the weird and people who simply want to make a name for themselves.
Central, therefore, to Samarkand, is its Dimension Door Hub, an access point to other dimensions. It is located at the core of Samarkand and pretty much everything in Samarkand revolves around it.
Merchants and administrator do their best to make most out of the riches that come and go out of those gates. There are four doors and most worlds have four doors as well. Samarkand is a bit special in that its door are very close together and form a sort of square, around which a quarter is often built beyond.
Once alignment is achieved with another world, you can jump to and fro to another place and time. Such a phenomenon has a time limit on it. Very often we see adventurers stranded in strange places because the gates have fallen out of sync.
Under extraordinary circumstance, some of them even make it back, if the dimensions sync with one another again within a lifespan. It is usually considered a death sentence – or exile, depending on the world they find themselves.
Of course, you can always stay home. Samarkand is a very nice place in itself. But I doubt that you'd simply live such a life. Now, let me ask you, have you ever looked at the stars and wondered what the world beyond looked like? Why wonder when you can go find out for yourself, right?
Embrace this novel life that some could only dream of; you definitely won't forget it.
As The Participant you have to fill this up. Its an application form to the organization that I'm handling. Its called Shonen Punk. Its pretty simple; just a formality required by the city.
Name: Whatever you want; just remember, this is what I'm gonna be calling you. Gender: Not that hard of a question. Age: As strange as it may sound, labor laws do exist in Samarkand.
Race: You're what again? Personality: What are you like? I barely know you. History: Tell me more about yourself.
Question, are we going to have to set a limit on where our characters come from? I have an idea for a character I really want to do but there's no way he's going to be able to come from a normal universe
Oh hey, this again. Although you seem to have changed things around a little so I guess I'll wait for more info before I try to get too deep into planning. ^^; Still, tentative interest I guess.
You've taken the bait, time to reel you in with some Q & A.
The Questions I present myself, unto all of you, go forth and bombard me with your questions. What information do you seek? Tell me what I need to tell you!
There are things that should be kept secret, but I shall divulge what I can. The premise I've shown you is that of normal, albeit beautiful and handsome, individuals such as yourselves, being brought to a (shonen-esque) world unknown.
Special Mentions - @RoflsMazoy My apologies, friend. As much as I want to answer your question, I believe I cannot until I actually see/read what you're planning.
I see on your profile that you've done something similar before; that is, with the same name. How much similarity will this have with the past time you tried this idea?
In the past, my take with this RP was that of a gradual progression in the exploration of the unknown realm you shall be transported to paralleled with character build-up of similar pace. I've realized that was just too slow. And also, Shonen Punk was supposedly a guild that all would be a part off.
I might stray from that train of though, or stick with it, we'll never now. The only thing that I can ascertain is that I've decided to forego the slow stuff and head straight to the meat of the matter. Mostly events and milestones for your characters will be focused on instead of just the mundane.
Did I do good with that answer? Good enough to get a cookie?
@KOgaming This is a difficult one. I'd like to say an original setting akin to multiverse since there will be various inspirations coming from different sources.
As for the power-ups, they'll both be gained and given. Power-ups can occurs as instant or gradual as needed; it really depends on what your character does.
An example would be Character A. Character A enjoys punching and that is his move of choice. He loves it so much that even when it doesn't make sense, he'd still turn to his fists. Him receiving some sort of blessing from a martial-art based diety wouldn't be that surprising.
@Masaki Haruna As tempting as that sounds, I'm currently watching my figure. We men have to be cautious too, you know.
@Scio I haven't written most of it down yet but basically, the character I want to make is the king of a space-faring empire but not really the 'king'. As in, he's the type of king who shirks all his duties and gets someone else to do it for him.
The sticking point is probably the space-faring empire thing but I could also have some mysterious origins on him. If you need more information than that, I can PM more information.
Rolling human either way! My current idea is basically like a modern day Don Quixote, only with chivalry novels replaced with shonen manga and tokusatsu because there is no way that cannot end well. ...Maybe. We'll see.
@Scio Are there many races beyond human that we could play as? What level of seriousness is your ideal RP? As in, is this the kind of shonen where friendship trumps the enemies space technology.
