Well I definitely plan on getting my character done tonight, which you know with me adding new blood into the mix might helps things along. Just thinking over skills with what would fit and more importantly be balanced.
@Eklispe Also hey, haven't said hi to you yet, fancy running into you for another RP.
Just wanted to say sorry to everyone for disappearing! My little brother and I decided to surprise my dad by driving down to visit him. Originally it was just going to be a day long trip, but now it has become much longer haha. I do have access to a computer now, last couple of days were just busy. I will get a post up either tonight or tomorrow!
Right, well here it is, done. Tried my best to keep the abilities balanced, but dunno if my definition of balanced is the same. Anyway hope to get this passed soon as possible then jump right into the action.
The Character
Anise Purcell • 6th of Clubs • The Soldier's Arm
"Skill is the way we prove ourselves, real capability is what matters."♣ ♣ ♣
AGE 19 • Female
Appearance: Anise stands at 5' 8", which for women is a tad on the taller side. She is very toned from years of drills and training, although not overly muscular more like particularly fit. Her light hair is almost always tied up, typically in a simplest of ponytails for no other reason than to keep it out of her way. If left hanging it would probably only reach the bottom of her neck
The image above does not in any way reflect her style of clothing at all, for one she almost never wears anything sophisticated unless necessary. Likewise in the same vein of thinking you'll also never catch her in dresses, except when left with no other choice and that really means no other choice. What she does wear should be obvious, that being a shirt and pants, maybe a tunic, she isn't too picky just what matters is practicality. Plain white suits her just fine, but she does actually like muted earthly colors just as well.
Personality: Anise is best described as a fairly serious and stoic individual. That's not to say she's a buzzkill, someone who operates off of a no fun allowed policy, but one should also try not to goof around too much in her presence. Generally Anise is even tempered with thick skin, however if someone does decides to provoke the girl enough to earn her wrath, well it won't be pretty. She is definitely the confident type, and won't shy away from a challenge, in fact she welcome anything to test her mettle taking it as another opportunity to prove herself.
In terms of the suit caste system, honestly Anise doesn't care much for it, but you'll not find her openly admitting that much. Absolutely she will always adhere to the ranking, and will never disobey a "superior" just it doesn't mean she likes it. To her a Heart who can't pull their weight, especially in battle, is nothing more than a waste of space. So long story short, meritocracy is something she really values, and for someone to prove capable is the way to earn her favor.
Now in a social situation Anise is fine with small talk and the likes, however don't expect to become fast friends. Now despite everything else that makes up her very being, inside she's definitely human as anyone else. A human who's cool with cracking a few jokes, or relax by doing nothing at all, just it'll take some trust and some digging in order to find this inner person.
Biography: The Soldier's Arm isn't exactly a proper House, but all the same is still a fairly large family, extended and otherwise. As the same suggests The Soldier's Arm are concerned about combat more than anything else, and many members continue to become warriors in their own right. As Clubs it isn't too surprising they're very familiar with the use of weapons, but with the idea of general mastery of arms rather than strict specialization. Certainly this doesn't allow for the highest possible degree of skill, but is made up in flexibility. In The Soldier's Arm the most important philosophy is the idea of glory on the battlefield. Prestige is fine, but the one true way for someone to prove himself is in battle, the only place that truly matters.
Anise's childhood was very straightforward and simple. She didn't want much as her family was well enough to always keep food on the table, yet was taught to live frugally. "You won't always have extra food, so its best to waste as little as possible." This being the reason constantly given to her. From an early age of ten is when Anise started her training, the basics of combat while also lightly touching on various weapons, and anything else to aid her later in life.
Family life was a bit tense to put it lightly, and while Anise was never abused, well her parents were never the loving type. Her father for example was always cold, just a little too distant. He would be there for dinner, yes, but only to silently eat his meal then leave without a word. Anise's other interactions with the man were limited to training, which for better or worse, her father was definitely involved with. To put it in a way, Anise was never entirely sad to leave home to continue her training and education at The Spire.
Savage Blow Lvl1: Anise strikes with an especially brutal attack that ignores armor but deals half of normal damage due to the lack of precision. Also she cannot use Savage Blow again until 2 turns have passed.
Snap Punch Lvl1: She quickly throws out a right hook at the enemy, this does no damage but leaves the target stunned for 1 turn. Like Savage Blow she cannot punch again until 3 turns have passed.
Glory or Death Lvl1: Anise throws away any notion of caution and charges caring only for kill. She gains +3 to physical attacks for the next 2 turns, but suffers -2 to armor rolls. After the duration of the effect ends she then suffers from exhaustion.
Skills:
Readiness: Anise always takes time out her day to polish, sharpen and otherwise take good care of her primary weapon. As a result of this increased maintenance, her currently equipped weapon takes 25% less durability damage.
Frugal: Anise is particularly careful about wasting resources, and so can find ways to extend the use of consumable items without diluting the effect. Basically this means she gets two uses out of a consumable.
Finally someone in Jarvan's league I mean nice CS. It looks fairly good from what I can see, Mae'll give you the rundown on if your abiilties needs changing when she can but it seems alright the way it is. I'll go get your shopping info in a jiffy.
Oh also this has relationship sheet you can fill out. Ask anybody if you wanna backstory with them, you probably met or know of any other clubs.
Edit: Clubs get to buy 5 items at the start. You can buy from the general store(First page of OOC). Also you can unlock 1 area from this list of areas. If you unlock a place you can buy stuff from you can buy that stuff in your intial purchases as well.
Uhh, I think that's everything
F O R G E A place to purchase weapons and weapon upgrades. Once a reagent has been fully discovered, characters can take large quantities of the reagent here to forge weapons of specific assets. The price is more expensive then the alchemist, but removes the random element. Price is based off the rarity and power.
G E N E R A L S T O R E For purchasing basic adventuring equipments.
A L C H E M I S T Alchemists can combine regeants to form new items with magical properties. Properties are rolled randomly.
D I S E N C H A N T E R Disenchanter will remove augments from an Artefact. Occasionally regeants would be salvaged from this action. The Disenchanter can remove less vicious curses for a price.
D O C T O R Removes Corruptions, Maladies and Insanity.
WI S H I N G W E L L It is said sometimes, the wishing well grants wishes (new destinies, events that happen IC)
M U S E U M The museum can be visited to identify artefacts and potions, and rarely the Museum will know of artefacts and their location in relation to mission goals. Museums will occasionallly have unique missions of archeological value.
L I B R A R Y can be used to research locations and gain information on lore, monsters, ect.
G A M B L E R' S D E N Gamble for money, gain connections with seedy folk, apply for favors. Those who have Perfomance skills may come here to earn extra gold once an evening.
M E N A G E R I E Place to purchase pets and mounts, as well as unlock armour for pets/mounts and equipment.
F O R T U N E T E L L E R Ability to ask to see the future, grant you information about your quest, occasionally sells rare regents.
T A V E R N Stocks more dangerous quests, occasionally mercenaries may appear here.
C H U R C H & C E M E T A R Y may attend to purchase Auras and begin to follow the paths of the righteous - gain Abilities based on a Diety.
T H E M A R I A Serves the best food in all of town with the best bonuses. It is not part of the Prime District, but it will recognise the discounts of Elite and Proven students only.
T R A I N I N G G R O U N D S Check the day's bounty (Beasts, Demons, Undead, ect) and receive gold for each creature of that type killed. Training can improve skills and moves over time, though it is a slow process.
M A R K E T P L A C E Sells a random selection of items each day, and used as a communal market place. Item selection is based off of which locations in the world have been discovered in the world and secured.
There are a few secret locations that cannot be unlocked using restricted area access, and can only be discovered.
@Eklispe Yeah I see what you mean. Kinda surprises me there aren't really any warrior types other than Jarvan, well maybe arguably a few others. Maybe. So decided to go with a really offensive melee type because of that.
Anyway about buying items at the start, am I limited to only using the actual 150g she has on hand and only from the general store?
Edit: Alright gotcha, so anything from the one place I unlock is also fair game for the initial purchases. Guess I imagine the general store is open to anyone, or does it also need to be unlocked?
Yes, unless you use an area unlock on something like the alchemist, in which case you can buy from there as well. And you are limited to the 150g - 5 items. Multiples of one item (EX: 5 caltrops) count as one item.
@duskshine749 Hmm, well not sure how much family ties cross suits, but yeah since Zephyr has interacted with Clubs a lot then I can see them training together, or maybe spar on more than a few occasions.
@Eklispe Jarven is someone else who makes sense to me, if nothing else but as acquaintances since I can imagine her being sent to his forge to pick up equipment and whatnot.
@Damiann47 Hmm... If you're making a Club, your character might have got into a scuffle or two with Jagred, since he often picked fights in his younger years and it were mostly Clubs that answered.
@RedDusk If Jagred were to pick a fight it's pretty much certain she would take him up on it. Probably would dislike but respect him, since on one hand trying to provoke a fight is never cool, however she likes people who can hold their own.
@Damiann47 That sounds great! Then they will have a mutual respect, though I will need to read more of your CS before I can be sure of Jagred's thoughts on her.
@duskshine749 His mother was a Club? Huh, okay I see where I went wrong, misunderstood his bio and thought his mother was a Spade. Anyway I actually would rather have them be cousins since it's a little more interesting than they've got to beat each other up sometimes. Big thing was I couldn't see how they'll even be related.
So how about this, Zephyr's mom here would be Anise's Aunt on her farher's side. Basically Zephyr's mother and Anise's father are siblings? Part of me really hopes I understand what cousins are, heh.
