Name: Noxian “Nox” Greymane
Element: Darkness, His mark is the shape of a black crescent moon on the outside of his thigh.
Race: Human
Religion: Polytheistic
Age: 20
Looks: Personality: Nox is a boy who was forged within the realm of crime and corruption. He has lived in the shadows for most of his developmental years and has become very accustomed to it. He finds solace in the dark and tight spaces of the city and forest, and becomes uncomfortable in vulnerable wide open spaces. He is an extremely hard worker who strives to reach every goal he sets, no matter how improbable it may be. This is the main reason he has fostered a strong sense of competition in his soul, and it becomes very obvious when someone challenges his competency in his craft.
Often seen as a Lone Wolf among his peers, Nox never really had any friends. In fact, the closest thing he ever got to a friend was his temporary partnership with Axel Stonewright, and that was very short-lived. Nox was never against the idea of having a friend, but when you live in the underbelly of the world, trust and friendships were few and far between.
Nox seems like a cold and calculated person. A boy who doesn’t let the world easily affect his emotions, but this a far from the truth. His emotions are raw and untamed, made even more so from his most recent betrayal. He does his best to hide what he feels behind a mask of neutrality and annoyance, but the people who can see past his façade know otherwise.
Nation you come from: Lempea/Muratti
Background: Noxian Greymane was born as Adam Woodburl into a small middle class family in Lempea. Adam was too little to remember, but for the first several years of his life, he was happy. That all changed when his parent decided to become the leaders of a movement against certain Nobles in the capital. These corrupt nobles then forged tall tales and twisted stories about his parents, Soon enough, Adam and his family were ridiculed and persecuted by the blind masses, and their good reputation slowly slipped away. Adam’s father coped with alcohol, while his mother receded into her mind like a shell. Adam, at the age of 6, was still too young to understand the severity of what was going on, but he knew something was wrong. The days and months passed, and Adam’s family name was pulled through the mud and back. His parents lost their jobs, they were thrown out of their house, and everyone treated them like trash. It wasn’t long after this that thugs, hired by the corrupt nobles his parents tried to fight against, came for them. His mother and father were brutally beaten and killed for their misgivings to the Thugs’ employers, and even Adam could not escape their fists and knives when they found out he was a Soturi. After multiple hours of being brutally beaten and tortured, Adams captures left him in the middle of the alley to slowly bleed to death.
It was then that Mallek Black found Adam’s unconscious body. Seizing the opportunity, Mallek took the dying boy away, deeper into the city. When Adam next awoke he was, bandaged head to toe, in a bed. It was there that Mallek Black introduced himself as the leader of a criminal organization known as the Black Rose and gave the boy a choice, become Mallek’s apprentice as an assassin and join the Black Rose organization, or be sold off into slavery. Adam chose the former. Now the apprentice of a self-proclaimed assassin extraordinaire, Adam begun his training as a shadow in the night.
Adam spent five years training under Mallek, learning the ins and outs of being an assassin. One of the first things that Mallek made Adam do was to change his name. Mallek’s reasoning was that a new name, combined with his new lifestyle, would make Adam very hard to trace among the sea of faces that exist in everyday life. Adam, not know what to call himself, left it to Mallek to choose his name. Mallek spent only a few minutes before settling on Noxian Greymane. Adam agreed to the new name, and from that day on, only replied to someone calling him Noxian or Nox. After the name change came the real training for Nox. He first had to learn how to survive in combat, and Mallek spent many months teaching Nox how to use a variety of weapons. Bows, swords, daggers, needles, bo staff, nunchucks, chakrams, and even a wide spread of poisons were just a few of the weapons that Nox learned how to wield. Nox preferred using daggers and needles as they were easily concealed under and in his clothes, but he knew that bows and swords were essential weapon of the battlefield and became the most proficient with them. After he was proficient with every weapon that Mallek could ever think of, it was time for Nox to learn how to conceal himself and learn to move in the shadows. Nox spent many months mastering the art of hiding one’s presence as well as the art of moving through and over obstacles quickly and efficiently. When his physical training was done, Nox was a lean, mean fighting machine that focused on agility, dexterity, and technique to take down his sparring partners.
After his five grueling years of training, it was time for Nox to become initiated into the Black Rose. The initiation ritual was quite simple really. You would take an assignment of your craft and complete it. Nox, although physically ready, was nervous. He had never killed a person before, but his nervousness disappeared when he found out what assignment Mallek had chosen for him. His first target was a nobleman making moves in the underworld that would eventually throw The Black Rose into disarray. One of the same nobles that were responsible for destroying his family. Nox took little time to prepare for his mission and went on his way. He was to complete this assignment alone, and Mallek shadowed the young assassin only as a spectator to the young talent.
Breaking into the man’s home was easy enough for Nox. He had to climb up 5 stories on the outside of a castle sized mansion, but he figured it would be easier than trying to fight through a small army of servants and guards, foolishly protecting the noble. Nox slipped through the window which he had silently opened and slowly crept his way through room after room of the large mansion. Soon enough Nox found himself standing over the slumbering man, wrapped in the fine silken blankets of the building. His heart was racing at the time and many thoughts passed through his mind at the time, but the only thought that didn’t cross his mind was if he was able to take a life. He already knew that answer. The man stirred in his bed and opened his eyes. His eyes were in a haze, but they quickly cleared as they noticed the young intruder. The man opened his mouth to scream, but Nox was too quick for him. In a single fluid motion, Nox pulled out his dagger and dragged it across the man’s jugular with extraordinary precision. Nox then watched as the light slowly faded from the noble’s eyes. Nox stood there, taking in the reality of what he had just done. He wasn’t panicked or scared. He was excited and happy. Happy to have finally gain vengeance on his family.
After that night Nox was a full-fledged member of The Black Rose and went on countless solo mission across the world to assassinate high priority targets for the highest bidder. Most were just corrupt business men and nobles, but there were a few targets that Nox didn’t quite understand. He never asked any question though. Noxian Greymane became a name to be feared among criminals of the world, and Nox relished in the fact. It was maybe three years after his first assignment that Nox met his soon to be partner in crime Axel Stonewright. Axel was only a few years older than Nox, and was already the top conman the organization had ever known. Axel was responsible for many people losing their homes, and fortunes under false claims and promises, and no one ever could figure out who the culprit was in the end. Axel and Nox over the months realized that they could use each other’s specific skill sets to their advantage, and that was how the partnership was born. They were the most successful duo in The Black Rose, at least until Axel got caught and killed in a routine con. After Axel’s death, Nox swore to never take on a partner in crime again, and thus became the Lone Wolf of the Black Rose.
A year later, the fact that Nox was a Soturi was exposed, to a large portion of The Black Rose, by a jealous member of the Orginizaiton. Nox thought nothing of it as it did not seem to create the much of a stir among his peers, but he had failed to realize the growing fear and hatred that plagued the faces of the members of The Black Rose. It wasn’t until a few months later that he received his final assignment from the Organization. Mallek had seemed off that day as he gave Nox his assignment. When Nox went to the location, he was surprised to learn it was a trap. Before he could realize what happened, he was surrounded by armed guards and taken away. Fortunately, able to keep the fact he was a Soturi hidden from his captors, Nox was sent to a Labor Camp where he was forced to work in Salt Mines.
During his time ine the Salt Mines, Nox was tortured. He was beaten and whipped on a regular basis and multiple other labor slaves attempted to take advantage and kill the young assassin. Although he couldn’t retaliate against the guards, he made sure any other slave that dared to take his life were either killed or horribly maimed after the fact. This often resulted in Nox being sent to the Salt Mines famed isolation chambers. Nox spent a year in the mines, cautiously keeping the fact that he was a Soturi a secret. When the word of rebellion crawled through the labor camp, Nox knew that it was time for him to make his leave. A week later, Nox was a free man. Leaving a trail of bodies and faking his death, Nox was now another anonymous face in the sea of people in everyday life. After his escape from the Salt Mines, Nox made his way to the country of Muratti. He now calles the forest country his home.
