True.

Question, are we going to serve as the distant gods you spoke of? Because I'd find it hilarious to see a group of humans worshipping a statue of a banana.

Go for it my friend, you can RP the God Banan and I will be a worshiper. He is a very small God in comparison to the creators I'd guess, but he is a God none the less, and full of potassium. Shall we...?

Banan is the god of harvest. Once posts get rolling I'll put Banan the deity of good harvest in the CS tab.

I propose we create different names for the world according to each of the different races' languages and cultures.

Also, different names for the gods.

How about one of the landmasses be a large floating island.

That works but could be confusing after a while. If we do it that way then we'll have to have a primary name that most know the God by or know the name exists and then other "nicknames" that are also associated with them. For Example, if the Devil was a God;

The Devil (Satan/Antichrist/Lucifer)

@Jozarin

A floating island could work well, how do you suggest it defies the laws that the other land masses are held under?

MAGIC!!!

There are a few possibilities: It is some naturally occuring magical mineral; it is the site of an apotheosis; it was raised by an institution (a state, magical society, guild, race, or religion) that still occupies it; it was raised by a long dead institution, and now inhabited by someone else.

What if that floating landmass was a small moon that was tidally locked and bizarrely close because the deific personification of the earth and moon have a very good relationship? perhaps even lovers?

One of these is much more interesting to me because it leaves open more story/idea threads to follow up on. Sure the idea of gods in love is intriguing and lends fable to the atmosphere (whether the inhabitants of the world know it to be true or not) but it doesn't really go anywhere. What other questions are there to ask after establishing a divine relationship? Adversely, I want to know why a magical society deemed it necessary to lift an entire continent into the sky. Or what the implications of a mineral that can generate levitation is on society. Is it mined for some use like vehicles or weapons? Is it native to the planet? etc. Just my opinion, discuss!

The story can evolve further rather easily if you think about it a little.

Perhaps the two celestial bodies are trying to get ever closer to one another, and should they succeed in meeting it would spell the end of the world (Majora's Mask style).
So the question would be how do prevent that from happening?
Perhaps magical institutions who live on the planet and other gods are actively working against this union for... um.. eternity? So that the planet's inhabitants can continue to exist and avoid an apocalypse.
What form do these magical institutions take?
What are their motives?
May this is a perfunctory responsibility they've been dealing with for awhile.

We could get a pantheistic love triangle going too. Maybe some other deity wants in on the action?
You want Olympic Gold Medal-grade drama? We can do that!

Edit; Fine, lol

Dungeons? Dragons? Not together, unless that sounds better, but I always felt like a dragon would destroy the dungeon.

Harkening back to the mushroom people, what if we made them the silent influencers of the world, gently guiding the other races through history with the use of hallucinogenic spores that generate prophetic images for their chosen recipient. Over time people see this as divine intervention from a higher force when really it's just some sentient mushrooms, I dunno, make of it what you will.

[IC]

It was a warm summers night as I walked along the worn path, swathes of corn swayed gently in the cooling breeze, their rippling movements giving one the sense of being in a sea of gold. The city of Altura lay as a bright speck on the horizon, its marble towers jutting forth into the heavens. It felt good to be away from the noise and smell. My attention was soon drawn to the path ahead of me, having caught some small movement in the corner of my eye, small specks of dust fluttered softly through the air, giving off brilliant glimmers of silver as they caught the moonlight. Immediately I was enchanted by their dance, the natural grace they possessed as they swirled toward me, ensnaring me in their embrace. Suddenly my eyes grew heavy and a weariness took over my bones, promptly I fell asleep.

I awoke to distant screams and crashes, the scent of smoke filled my nostrils and a fierce red light filled my vision. Altura was ablaze, it's people yelling out in anguish as the flames washed over their homes and devoured all they loved. Their pain and suffering became my own as I collapsed to my knees in hopelessness, tears unbidden, came to my eyes and washed the horrific images away. The flames died down and disappeared, leaving only the moon to light the landscape, the image of Altura still burned in my vision as I looked about in confusion, trying to make sense of what had transpired. It had only been a vision, a sign of what was to come, with due haste I cut through the fields of gold to the city of Altura, the people had to be warned.

So I was thinking we have like 6 or 7 set magic classes with each having like 2 or 3 subclasses just so there isn't any confusion on what magic is ok and what isn't, or is it preferred to keep it more open?
