@Gate Keeper I'm willing to bet it only moved because plot convenience and keeping us on our toes. In fact, it moving might be a benefit because we could lure it. I get the feeling it won't fire if there's no framewerk in its firing parameter.

Also, if what I am hearing is true, then I doubt we can launch the mist away either without handy-dandy telekinesis. It's entirely gas. Not going to do much. So I think if we can lure it away from the population centers, that is the best bet. Then anybody with explosives can unload on it.
