Um so exactly how is the Meagher house getting brought down? From what I read, I got that someone hired a sort of ancient assassin else to plant an explosive? 'Cuz if so I'm totally fine with it. That assassin better be world-class haha

Just a note (I think you know already but just gonna make sure): Adair isn't known to be Meagher, so he's not on the list.

No, Ichor, the tax collector on spells, altered the searching spells to lead investigators to the Meagher house. Basically, this is going to appear to be an attempted assassination by them in order to kill the King and move up in the world (especially if the heir is dead.) They are so powerful that they don't really have much of a threat by their lesser constituents. However, the King is certainly powerful enough to wipe the floor with them.

I am aware that Adair is not involved, but you mentioned the downfall of the great house in your character's notes. I figured that this could be the weapon used in the tragedy.

I was thinking the Marquis could be like, "Dude, this is totally a frame-job, seriously we don't know anything about this kid you asked about. If what you say is true we should have known about him and the guard that thought it would be a good idea to use him as bait."

The guards can think, "Well, they have motive, but no means or opportunity."
However, once they leave and explain everything to the king, the king can have his doubts, "Wait just a minute, these people warp minds. Maybe they just did that to the dude that rounded up the assassin or, heck, even the assassin himself!" (which is super dangerous), and suddenly they become a threat that must be dealt with swiftly and without the normal caution they would take with other noble houses. Innocent or not, a tyrant is forced to take action, and lickity-split he is rounding up Meaghers by the cart-load to send them to their deaths. What do you think @Dusksong?

@xjoeling If you are going to have your character hunting mine (Or, heck, even just casting a spell that must travel) she has a good starting point having to go pay taxes to Ichor.

Background:Asha was a solider in the tyrant kings army, like many Lampean people were; stamping out rebellion as it popped up. Asha was knighted by the king for leading an outnumbered attack against a band of rebels who called themselves the Kingswood Brotherhood, she led a small group of ten versus the larger albeit less well equipped rebels; who had taken to stealing from the local farmers to supply themselves. Being honorable as she was Asha challenged their leader a large man of over six foot four, broad of shoulder and quick of temper to a one on one duel; he accepted and was promptly defeated by the more skilled warrior. Asha then demanded the outlaws surrender and lay their weapons down, her request was met with further violence; and by the end none of the outlaws had survived while her group lost only four of ten men. Her renown quickly spreading through Lampea as a propaganda story for the Kings army to use.

Officially the King knighted Asha for bravery and commendable skill in battle, in full view of the public beneath the Ivory tower; the event being one of the most proud moments of the young woman's life. She continued to serve the King as a knight, until she witnessed the atrocities being brought onto the people first hand, slaughtering several of the Kings Men who were bullying their way around a tavern owner. Eating him out of hand and home, along with threatening to take his children; Asha quickly and adeptly confronted the men slaying four of five as the last escaped. Asha returned to the city to report the on goings, only to be sent to the tavern again finding the man and his children strung up outside their burning home; an order given by the Kings military officers. Asha butchered the two she found responsible and fled Lampea, having a Royal bounty of a hundred gold coins placed upon her head; so she seeks the largest rumored cell of the rebellion sickened by the Kings apparent justice.

@thinslayer Er I didn't coin the term, but it's presumably the place that the mages are trained and housed. It's close to the Ivory palace, and it's pretty tall?

Adair and all the other mages live there. Maybe check out the lore to see if there's more info haha
