This is more or less out of sheer curiosity but if there were to be a thread, casual very likely, based upon witches (male and female) in the present day with several other 'magical beings' like Elves, Werewolves and the like would there be anything specific you may want to see? Of course full on details about each subsection of Fair Folk would be given- no none of them glitter in the sunlight not even the vampires- but is there anything else that would like to be seen?

Essentially I am simply trying to see what would appeal to the masses about the slightly over done story of magic in our present day. It's still forming but getting a few ideas may help.

Please feel free to leave comments below and let me know your thoughts!

@Lucidnonsense
For the idea I have I was thinking for the full Fair Folk their magic is much easier to manifest than it would for any Halflings (thus would be the introduction of the idea of wands/brooms/ physical objects that help focus said magic). For witches its more or less less verbal spells than being able to understand where and how their affinity works. Verbal Spells, like the physical objects, help them to focus and create a singular objective for their magic. Though, bigger uses of magic generally have verbal spells associated with them, as the Fair Folk will speak/write spells to help them as well focus.

Maybe one which focuses more on non-human or very humanlike species? Fewer elves and more lizardfolk and the like.

@Aristocles At the moment Ive got a range of the standard Fair Folk including- Elves, Dwarves, Fairies, Sirens, Merfolk, Witches, Werewolves, and vampires. All of these beings have their standard humanoid attributes and their way of blending in with Sightless (non magic humans) but Im interested on introducing a bit of a wider range of species and genes.

Let's use Lizardfolk, this is something I'm not familiar with so bare with me, but how would they use magic? How would they have become something of humanoid form and lizard form? What attributes would pass on to Halflings or a non pure line?

Lizardfolk would be hatched that way. Not like some magical mutant mix of a lizard and a human. Like the Argonians from the Elder Scrolls or the Sliths from Avernum (or Exile, if you go that far back). There are plenty of other examples. As for halflings, you are using that term to describe a half-human, half-lizardfolk, right? I'm not sure that such as union would be compatible.

Dragons, or at the very least, dragons that are long extinct but there is magic to replicate their power with certain individuals or as a subtype of druidic/shaman magic. Perhaps called, dragonmancy, or dracomancy

@dragonmancer Oh, I certainly have those in this world. They are classically rare and all that jazz. Extremely intelligent and able to produce a power of their own. So much so they used to have an honorary position within the Fair Folk Circle. They are a dying breed but they are important.

However, I am very interested to know more about dragonmancy. Please share?

Sarkhan vol from mtg is a good reference:

Basically it broadens various spells and magical enhancements of a firey dragon, with the most advanced spells turning oneself into a dragon or summoning a sort of spiritual or elemental manifestation that resembles a dragon. Other spells would include transforming one's hand into a fire breathing dragon head, a fus-ro-da like roar, augumented boost of physical ability like strength or gaining an undefined heat resistance,
Or growing wings.

One could gain such powers by either being blessed by a dragon itself, or augumented some how with the essence of a dragon without the actual dragon being present. Powers are developed through self discovery and practice or being taught by a dragon.

These are just ideas though since your the gm you can always edit and remove or add things to your liking, this is just my proposed idea.
