You find yourselves born into a world in which cities dot the landscape with stretches of wilderness. Great nations have risen and fallen. Empires have risen from nothing and crumbled away once more. And now, three hundred years after the last great kingdom, you find yourselves. Spurred on by tales of great works of invention and magic, there are tales of things you can barely comprehend from ages past. As you pick through the ruins, others are as well. Some will fall, and some will rise as they gain experience and grow in power with what they find.
Overview
Setting: Location of the RP - Tirasia, In the Realm of Bergarth, just outside the Bergarth Woods, a couple of weeks away from Haleah - The City of Quests, in the town of Heywood. It is a town of 1500 people, primarily humans, with an integrated mix of dwarves, halflings, some elves, gnomes, and half-elves, and a few stray others. Heywood sits in the shadow of a ruined castle or keep nestled in the fork of a river. The town's buildings are made of large and sturdy stone blocks. It is known for it's silver mining, panning the river. Smelters and smithies work almost round the clock. Others work the quarry. The forges create a smokey haze over the city, this budding spot of industry in a mostly now untamed land. Time Frame: Early Middle Ages, just after the fall of the Roman Empire (Not Earth, but equivalent for reference purposes.) Technology Level: Swords & Sorcery fare. Gunpowder has been made and is around, but it's pretty rare. Firearms are -unheard of- tech for most people. Some sages and scholars might know of it. Starting Season: Early spring. Magic Availability: Allowed, medium level. RP Tags: Add in any others that are not available on the forum or if you ran out of spaces here. Editions: Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition. (Content from PHB, DMG, Unearthed Arcana, and Volo's guide is currently allowed. See Races list. Anything outside that is subject for approval. Xanthar's Guide when it is released will need to be reviewed. EEPG and SCAG are allowed as well. Homebrews are subject to approval and will need to impress the GM's.)
Rules
Add in what you are expecting as a Gm from your Rpers. How many times they are expected to post. What you will and will not allow. How you plan to handle rule violations. Let your Rpers know what you expect from the start.
DM/GM's word is law when it comes to ruling and game mechanics. You can ask questions, and debate, but when it comes down to it, their word is as final is getting crushed by a sixteen ton anvil dropped from the edge of the atmosphere.
If we give you an inch, do not try to take a mile. You will have to earn that by proving (not saying but actually proving) your intentions are good, and that you are not going to try to overrun or break the game or RP/story. This is everyone's story, everyone's narrative, not just yours. You -will- have a chance to shine, and will have the spotlight from time to time. You do not need to have it all the time.
If you have a concern bring it to us in PM. We will do the same for you, for the first round. Second round, if we have to have a word with you it will be openly public. If it comes to a third time, you will likely be dismissed from the RP with no hard feelings. This is mostly to keep up the quality of life and enjoyment for other players, as well as for our GM/DM's sanity. We're all adults here or presumably adults. We don't have time for drama OOCly. IC drama is great. But OOCly, it sucks the life out of us, and we don't want it.
Now that the 'I am GOD' set of things is out of the way... Have fun. That is the most important thing. We want you guys to have fun. We want to have fun. Plot, discuss, come up with ideas, speculate. hang out, chill, be free, and enjoy each other's company.
If you build a character make sure that they have a connection to another character played by another player if you can. Two connections to two different characters by two different players is preferable, or even more. It doesn't have to be major history but a passing familiarity or shared event. Even just knowing each other's rep is enough. Why? Party composition. It's easier to work with people you at least know a little bit. And it breeds RP. You will almost always have something to fuel for posting with this. It's a good idea.
If you need character imagery or would like edits, such as changing hair color, eye color, and maybe even altering facial features, clothes, or whatnot, you can always request this with an @mention or a PM. I'm happy to find good if not great references, and manipulate and alter and paint as needed.
If you have an idea, pitch it to the GMs/DMs in private message (group please), so we can discuss it. Sell us on the idea. Include what you are hoping to gain out of it, as well as how this will benefit your other players. If we say no, leave it at that. IF we say not right now, leave it at that. We may well revisit the topic later. We do appreciate all good ideas though!
Fill out your CS completely, or as close to it as you can before you begin play. If you wish to make changes after you start, just reach out so we can approve or just be aware. We understand personalities and things will change during play. Your CS isn't just a starting point. It is a living record. Keep it up to date, please.
If you're not having fun, you need to let us know. (In group PM please). We want ot make sure everybody has a good time. We'll do whatever we can to resolve it. Promise.
Reality-grounded. Do not expect to take a running start for the cliff of the Grand Canyon, take a flying leap, flap your arms as hard as you can and expect to fly across it. At least without doing anything that would make such a thing possible (Such as a Fly spell, or transforming, or using Levitate, or other means). This place is a world, and one that is built on rules. Rules like gravity. Some rules can be bent. Others may be broken, conditionally.
Don't be boring. That sounds mean at first blush. People are risk-averse in their day to day lives, and often end up doing very little of meaning or consequence. They stay in their houses and they are safe. They are not adventurers. Take a risk. Take a chance. Roll the dice. Shake things up. Doesn't have to be with everything, but, even the most timid or shy character should take a stand now and again.
Be an adventurer. Your character should not be just someone sitting on the sidelines playing solitaire.
They should be ready to hit the door running when the opportunity arises. Han Solo was already a smuggler and pilot to start. Indiana Jones. - A great example is Will Turner from Pirates of the Caribbean - Curse of the Black Pearl. He was actually ready to go do something, but Port Royal is a boring town and there wasn't much to do. As soon as the opportunity to get into a situation was there, he was right there.
Another example is Richard Cypher/Rahl from the Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind. He was described as a woodsguide (ranger much?), who tended to travel his homeland, and took care of the place. He built and repaired bridges, etc. He was well liked (charismatic) and could often stop a fight before it went far, OR if not he was big enough to break it up fast. He already has a sense of adventure from what he does, but also his old friend Zedd... the crazy old man on the hill who stands on a rock a lot, half the time naked, talking to his chickens and watching the skies and clouds. (Zedd is really a wizard of the First Order, and has already had a lot of adventures and harrowing tales). Zedd taught Richard plants and herbs, and told him many tales when he was younger in grandfatherly fashion, and so when Richard, sitting high up and eating breakfast, and just enjoying the morning overlooking his woods, and he spots a woman, fleeing from several stealthy men with a bad look... he immediately leaps into action. He was primed to go one one of the greatest adventures of his life, and may well have to save the entire world.

Change The Hex Color Code In The CS To The Color Of Your Choice If You Wish To Denote You Speech Text Color. Make sure it is one that is not currently being used by an active member of the RP or white. Must use this Cs - if you do not need a section, this is for on magic users, just place N/A and move on.

Name: Avandra Alignment: Chaotic Good Domain: Trickery
The god of change, Avandra delights in freedom, trade, travel, adventure, and the frontier. Her temples are few in civilized lands, but her wayside shrines appear throughout the world where the gods of the Dawn War are followed. Halflings, merchants, and all types of adventurers are drawn to her worship, and many people raise a glass in her honor, viewing her as the god of luck. Her commandments are few:
Luck favors the bold. Take your fate into your own hands, and Avandra smiles upon you.
Strike back at those who would rob you of your freedom, and urge others to fight for their own liberty.
Change is inevitable, but it takes the work of the faithful to ensure that change is for the better.
Name: Bahamut Alignment: Lawful Good Domain(s): Life, War
Called the Platinum Dragon, Bahamut is the god of justice, protection, nobility, and honor. Lawful good Paladins often revere him, and metallic dragons worship him as the first of their kind. Monarchs are crowned in his name. He commands his followers thus:
Uphold the highest ideals of honor and justice.
Be constantly vigilant against evil and oppose it on all fronts.
Protect the weak, liberate the oppressed, and defend just order.
Name: Corellon Alignment: Chaotic Good Domain(s): Light
The god of spring, beauty, and the arts, Corellon is the patron of arcane magic and the fey. He seeded the world with arcane magic and planted the most ancient forests. Artists and musicians worship him, as do those who view their spellcasting as an art, and his shrines can be found throughout the Feywild. He despises Lolth and her priestesses for leading the Drow astray. He urges his followers thus:
Cultivate beauty in all that you do, whether you’re casting a spell, composing a saga, strumming a lute, or practicing the arts of war.
Seek out lost magic items, forgotten rituals, and ancient works of art. Corellon might have inspired them in the world’s first days.
Thwart the followers of Lolth at every opportunity.
Erathis is the god of civilization. She is the muse of great invention, founder of cities, and author of laws. Rulers, judges, pioneers, and devoted citizens revere her, and her temples hold prominent places in most of the cities of Terras. Her laws are many, but their purpose is straightforward:
Work with others to achieve your goals. Community and order are always stronger than the disjointed efforts of lone individuals.
Tame the wilderness to make it fit for habitation, and defend the light of civilization against the encroaching darkness.
Seek out new ideas, new inventions, new lands to inhabit, new wilderness to conquer. Build machines, build cities, build empires.
Ioun is the god of knowledge, skill, and prophecy. Sages, seers, and tacticians revere her, as do all who live by their knowledge and mental power. Corellon is the patron of arcane magic, but Ioun is the patron of its study. Libraries and wizard academies are built in her name. Her commands are also teachings:
Seek the perfection of your mind by bringing reason, perception, and emotion into balance with one another.
Accumulate, preserve, and distribute knowledge in all forms. Pursue education, build libraries, and seek out lost and ancient lore.
Be watchful at all times for the followers of Vecna, who seek to control knowledge and keep secrets. Oppose their schemes, unmask their secrets, and blind them with the light of truth and reason.
Name: Kord Alignment: Chaotic Neutral Domain(s): Tempest, War
Kord is the storm god and the lord of battle. He revels in strength, battlefield prowess, and thunder. Fighters and athletes revere him. He is a mercurial god, unbridled and wild, who summons storms over land and sea; those who hope for better weather appease him with prayers and spirited toasts. He gives few commands:
Be strong, but do not use your strength for wanton destruction.
Be brave and scorn cowardice in any form.
Prove your might in battle to win glory and renown.
Melora is the god of the wilderness and the sea. She is both the wild beast and the peaceful forest, the raging whirlpool and the quiet desert. Rangers, hunters, and Elves revere her, and sailors make offerings to her before beginning their voyages. Her strictures are these:
Protect the wild places of the world from destruction and overuse. Oppose the rampant spread of cities and empires.
Hunt aberrant monsters and other abominations of nature.
Do not fear or condemn the savagery of nature. Live in harmony with the wild.
Name: Moradin Alignment: Lawful Good Domain(s): Knowledge, War
Moradin is the god of creation and patron of artisans, especially miners and smiths. He carved the mountains from primordial earth and is the guardian and protector of the hearth and the family. Dwarves from all walks of life follow him. He demands these behaviors from his followers:
Meet adversity with stoicism and tenacity.
Demonstrate loyalty to your family, your clan, your leaders, and your people.
Strive to make a mark on the world, a lasting legacy. To make something that lasts is the highest good, whether you are a smith working at a forge or a ruler building a dynasty.
Name: Pelor Alignment: Neutral Good Domain(s): Life, Light
God of the sun and summer, Pelor is the keeper of time. He supports those in need and opposes all that is evil. As the lord of agriculture and the bountiful harvest, he is the deity most commonly worshiped by ordinary humans and his priests are well received wherever they go. Paladins and Rangers are found among his worshipers. He directs his followers thus:
Alleviate suffering wherever you find it.
Bring Pelor’s light into places of darkness, showing kindness, mercy, and compassion.
Be watchful against evil.
Name: The Raven Queen Alignment: Lawful Neutral Domain(s): Life, Death
The name of the god of death is long forgotten, but she is called the Raven Queen. She is the spinner of fate and the patron of winter. She marks the end of each mortal life and mourners call upon her during funeral rites, in the hope that she will guard the departed from he curse of undeath. She expects her followers to abide by these commandments:
Hold no pity for those who suffer and die, for death is the natural end of life.
Bring down the proud who try to cast of the chains of fate. As the instrument of the Raven Queen, you must punish hubris where you find it.
Watch for the cults of Orcus and stamp them out whenever they arise. The Demon Prince of the Undead seeks to claim the Raven Queen’s throne.
Name: Sehanine Alignment: Chaotic Good Domain(s): Trickery
God of the moon and autumn, Sehanine is the patron of trickery and illusions. She has close ties to Corellon and Melora and is a favorite deity among Elves and Halflings. She is also the god of love, who sends shadows to cloak lovers’ trysts. Scouts and Rogues ask for her blessing on their work. Her teachings are simple:
Follow your goals and seek your own destiny.
Keep to the shadows, avoiding the blazing light of zealous good, and the utter darkness of evil.
Seek new horizons and new experiences, and let nothing tie you down.
