As a high level fighting game player myself who just happens to hate the FGC (it's mostly hype, and they delude themselves into thinking that only the players who compete are the top players), I feel like if I wrote this anime it would be a severe deconstruction of the FGC in a lot of senses.

Honestly kind of surprised anime hasn't gone there yet... Not a bad idea, given that the goal is to be weird. It's also not out of the ordinary for people to think their own ideas are really epic even if they're not to others, simply because other people won't imagine it how it was envisioned being pulled off or the thought put into it.

How about a woman who is obsessed with doors? Like she has an obsession with doors and she is trying to overcome that obsession or whatever but whenever she tries to overcome it, she only gets drawn in more.

As you said, the FGC thinks it's just the top players competing. Why not make the characters more diverse and very much unlike their real life FGC counterparts? I'd imagine's Daigo anime genderbend equivalent to be some kuudere stay-at-home mome. I never played DiveKick. Wait, is that the one game where you jump and fall to the ground at an angle with your foot stretched out, hoping it would make contact with the opponent's skull?

Yeah, I've basically always been a high level fighting game player, and I more or less actually teach other people how to play fighting games and have played against tournament players before, so I know what I'm talking about most of the time when the medium is involved. I've never actually competed in a tournament though and I'm not some big name on a prestigious FGC website or anything, in both cases because I consider each of those things to be superficial and meaningless. I get underestimated all the time due to this and I'm pretty unpopular with some of the FGC, but I've beaten those who've actually taken me on.

That'd be a funny way to portray the competitors, actually. We'd essentially have a whole bunch of anime archetypes playing the roles of the various big names in the FGC. Could be pretty funny. As for DiveKick; I think you've got the right game in mind, yeah. It's built around how dive kick attacks are often overpowered in fighting games. It's a really painful game in terms of the visuals (they're really embarrassing) and all the jokes centred around the FGC, but from a balance perspective it's actually rather entertaining simply because so many people in the FGC lack fundamentals (which that game focuses on) since most people in the community these days are just sub-par players being carried by overpowered combos and easy to learn mix-ups. DiveKick does get boring very quickly; I'd only recommend it to players who haven't learned the fundamentals.

Perhaps each of the competitors of the opposite gender to the main character, those who get defeated by him/her, end up forming their harem. As for the fanservice, there's way too many ways that could be done.

Maybe it's a school gaming club as well and the club is almost even in terms of gender proportion, but the mc gets all the girls because he's average looking and that's how it goes in harem anime and then all of the other guys are jealous of mc and they hate him in a friendly way if that makes sense.

Though that might deviate from what was originally said in the whole topic you two were conversing about.

@NekoMizu no, but since I imagined it'd feature Ryoryoryoken in the protag role, it'd be amusing to say the least. Especially if you've been around Ryo dearest for a while, you know just how hilarious he is on his own.

If I was given money to make an anime, I'd remake Lord of the Flies.

HOWEVER! Only the protag and his nerdy best friend is male. The rest are females. And then I'm going to market it as a fanservice-y harem anime. Heck, even the protag thinks he's in a harem situation. But he's wrong because it's frigging Lord of the Flies.

P.S. I suppose I should call it Lady of the Flies.

It follows two distant cousins, Phil, from the San Francisco Bay Area, and Jack, from the Philippines, who live with their uncle, Tito Dick in south-suburban Daly City. Oh wait that already exists.

what about an anime where the mc loses his virginity at some store he was at and in the show he's constantly searching for it, but never finds it. (Or like around the end we find out that virginity was the name of his dog or something.)

I once played this old-old-mega-old DS game called 'Deep Labrynth' the child had to find his parents and their souls and escape. The souls were just in the form of an orb with like a flickering flame (Blue for Dad, Pink for Mum, IIRC)

If somebody were to 'lose' their virginity, I don't think they could really regain it. To me, it would be cool if when they finally discovered where it was, it had turned into a fiery lubido.

I wanna see them try to make it as stupid as possible but at the same time hide the stupidity of the series under intense or deep shit disguising what it truly is. Then just have a direct "fuck you" ending. Though how would they lose their virginity? Maybe some sort of monster took it while he wasn't looking (he was too conflicted on what candy bar he should buy dammit!)
