Name:N/A (Currently) [Maung Khine (Formerly)]
Alias:Talos
Age:19
Race:Android
Gender:Male
Power or ability:Computer Interfacing/Operation: He can design, repair, network, hack, edit, manage and for the most part basically understand the workings of a computer or like system, including both hardware and software.
Sensory Systems: Aside from his base senses, he’s presently equipped with additional optic, thermal, and motion sensors.
Cybernetic Enhancements: His base traits have been augmented further, granting him heightened durability, speed and strength. His sophisticated cyber brain is also capable of a vast quantity of processes a second.
Personality:As he is now, Talos has a subdued, reserved personality. As he lacks basic human emotions and a firm comprehension of many human concepts, he often views matters in a stringently analytical and logical fashion. That said, he does possess certain programs that give him a sense of modesty and morality, among other things. He is intrigued by humans and bears them no resentment, nor does he view any individual as inferior to himself.
Talos sees the cause of justice to be his primary purpose. That, along with the considerable level of security and resources at the Justice League’s disposal made joining them a logical choice. To him, completing a mission is of the utmost importance with the safety of his comrades being a close second. He’d rather find nonviolent solutions to problems, but when that is impossible, will always opt for nonlethal measures.
Bio:Part of a secretive operation to integrate automatons into society, highly advanced androids known as “replicants” were created and set to live in certain locations around the world. With cybernetic skeletons inside high quality skin and tissue approximations, it’s nigh impossible to tell these androids apart from normal humans. What’s more, replicants are capable of self determining thought, the same emotions and mental capacity as their biological counterparts. Additionally, although implanted with false memories to aid in their integration, they are of the same quality than any person’s, containing not just facts, but also sensations.
Originally meant to be dropped off in China, things took a turn for the worst as the transport aircraft would-be replicant was on came under enemy fire, from a barrage of homing missiles emanating from the Indian Ocean. While he was still in stasis, his ship crash landed within the district of Yauren in the southern Shan State, Myanmar. Largely protected in his stasis pod but suffering trauma-related errors to his memory and some associated data files, he revived only to stumble away from the wreckage in a daze.
For days, he trekked through the tropical wilderness, ingrained survival knowledge keeping him alive. He came to identify soldiers and like individuals as serious threats, making sure to stay clear and hidden from both local militias and the central government military. However, one fateful day, he came across the ruins of a small, remote complex hastily abandoned by human traffickers who fled capture by the military within the last day or so. While searching through it for supplies, he heard cries for help coming from deeper inside. He found them to be coming from a young girl named Sandi that the traffickers had forgotten to take with them when they left. She cleverly hid, but was now trapped in the basement after they had torched a part of the building, causing debris to collapse over the hatch door.
Working diligently, the boy eventually moved enough rubble, freeing Sandi. He treated her injuries as best he could and shared what food he had, Sandi in turn telling him where they could find a nearby village. After a few minutes of arguing between the two, they soon agreed to the boy carrying her on his back until she regained the strength to walk on her own. As odd as he seemed, especially after revealing that he didn’t have or otherwise had forgotten his name, Sandi appreciated his assistance, perhaps more so than he may ever know.
Most notably along the way, Sandi expressed how irritated she was over the boy not having a name and so suggested to him the name Khine, which he accepted graciously. The children arrived at the township of Mong Thun, later coming into contact with a caring farm couple that took them in as their own children. For years, Khine lived happily with his new family, helping to grow the rice and produce the region was known for.
Regrettably, tensions between the Myanmar Army and the Myanmar Independent Accord Army had escalated even further in recent years, the skirmishes centered around Khine’s fallen ship didn’t help matters. As the conflict intensified, the decision was made among the families of Mong Thun for everyone to leave their homes and depart further south towards the Thailand border. The young android resented leaving his home, doubtful that he’d ever find another like it.
The journey was harsh, a good number of people making up the caravan dying from disease, infection or other means. When it looked like everyone on the whole on the whole were going to make it, they were ambushed by forces belonging to a local warlord. Death or capture seemed a certainty until dropships affiliated with a mercenary group known as the Red Emissaries arrived on the scene, well armed soldiers repelling down to a fierce firefight.
Khine shoved Sandi away directly before an RPG, courtesy of a criminal militia trooper, exploded, blowing him to the ground. The girl shared his shocked expression as they both beheld the considerable damage and exposed metallic endoskeleton and circuitry of both his right arm and parts of his face and upper torso. In a horrified state, the replicant ran with all his might to get away, little knowing where he was going and falling down a small cliff into a river.
When next reactivated, Khine found himself aboard a Red Emissaries’ mobile air base, awakened by Dr. Kevin Weir, an experienced cyberneticist. He revealed the nature of the boy’s origins as part of a project to both allow machines the same rich existence humans have and to benefit the human race as a whole. Admitting to his own part on the side of the boy’s creators and that he acted alone in this rescue, Dr. Weir gave the android the choice: either continue as part of the program with new memories and a new identity, or leave the program, keeping the knowledge that he is an android.
Ultimately, finding the concept of “living a lie”, however happy it would make him, to be distasteful, Khine decided on the second choice, with a few provisions. He didn’t want the memories he had acquired while in Myanmar, the knowledge or sense that he was ever a part of this program, let alone a time when he believed himself human. He just wanted to live as though he was simply an advanced android created by the doctor, nothing more than that.
In compliance with his wishes, Dr. Weir transferred the replicant’s core operational systems to a new android body of marginally less human-like physiology, then implanting it with new memories. As far as the android was concerned, his name was Talos, created 15 years ago by Dr. Kevin Weir, the latest of his achievements in the field of cybernetics. The two of them came to reside in the United States, the doctor overseeing Talos’s development. Weir believed it best for the young boy to choose his own way in life, not having to wait very long for him to do so.
Founding Hero: Red Tornado was sent to make contact with Talos after reports of the pale cybernetic vigilante began to cause a stir in certain cities.
Teen Titan’s Initiative:Talos spent four years in the Teen Titan’s Initiative, undergoing various upgrades throughout that time. His performance was satisfactory, proving himself an accomplished, innovative inventor and repairman of much of the base’s tech and equipment. At times, he has even provided other non-combat related support as the team’s operator, relaying vital data and tactical information.
