The bigger problem are the vampire peculiarities, let's say. Being forbidden to walk during the day, or crossing current water, etc are quite annoying traits when you take it into consideration, even if the pluses still go over the minuses it's still not a very choice from the perspective of the other characters as well, so I guess that it'd be better to save Maria for a better timing.
