I'm actually making some serious head way with this CS of mine. But I did have some questions, are our operatives already a part of this organization when the game starts? If so, how long? Because I'm thinking of a woman, that worked as a nurse/ambulance driver in the war, but because of her ability to speak a few different languages, acted as a translator, and forced information out of a few German soldiers that she ended up "treating." And/or has ties to the Crown, or is a spy for them? Something like that at least. Thoughts?

Our characters are selected by Austrian intelligence two weeks ago, and accepted the summon to their Vienna HQ one week ago. No, you do not have be part of any organization before that.

Someone with medical and language skills are perfect. However, if you meant the English crown, then she needs to convince the Austrians that she is ultimately working against the Allies (at least on the surface). You can make a double agent, whether she is truly loyal to the Allies, Central Powers or indecisive. Perhaps one of the Germans she treated turned out to be an intelligence officer, and recommended her to the higher ups. In this case, she could be running the cover story of a defector, or pretending to be a foreign-born German. Of course, she really could be changing sides for reasons such as bribery, personal ties or revulsion for Entente war crimes. Lastly, someone who struggles with her true allegiance makes for a juicy story too.

In short, she needs to look like she's working for the Central Powers, but doesn't have to deep down.

Awesome, I'll work her as a double agent then. I'm putting on the finishing touches now, so I'll edit that in.

Please let me know if I have to change anything. I tried to be historically accurate as possible.

@MacabreFox, approved.

Evelyn's sheet is historically authentic to me. I'm liking the link between her forced service for German hospitals and Persephone's abduction, and her deeds in torture and medical killing also play nicely into the "Queen of the Underworld" theme.

Huzzah!

Also, while I chose her code name as Persephone, I must have subconsciously remembered the tale of Persephone, because I was originally going for her being a "bright visage of beauty, like that of a warm spring breeze", but yes >:) I love that I did that.

I'll get this posted in CS tomorrow.

@Peik@MacabreFox@gcold I regret to say I have been swamped by RL stuff and other RP's, and won't be able to get a sheet in on time. It's best if y'all start without me. If there is ever an 'in between' stopping point though, let me know and I might be able to join then. My apologies. Love posting with y'all in general though^^

@POOHEAD189, no problem. Best of luck with other RPs and real life. I'll ring you when there's a spot down the road.

Edit: Fox and Peik, we need one more; go conscript a family member. In the mean time, I'm gonna fish for fresh meat in the interest check section.

@MacabreFox

Well actually, the Central Powers (except the Ottomans really) weren't the bad guys, tbh

Each side committed horrific atrocities and straight up ignored the neutrality of other nations as it suited them. In the case of Iran, despite declaring neutrality right away, Britain and Russia split the country up between them and occupied it, which lead to famines and mass starvation throughout, or Greece where British and French troops occupied Thessaloniki as a staging point for operations in the Balkans.

So y'know, they all sucked. Only reason people today might call the central powers the "bad guys" is they lost.

Ah well, when you put it like that, certainly. Then again, seeing as how I'm American, most know that our schooling is made to make us look good for our future generations in the eyes of young, bright pupils. There is a lot that I didn't necessarily learn about WWI, mainly due to my significant absent during that year when this was taught, and the fact that we only spent a week teaching on the subject. Much more was covered in WWII, which I admit is a shame.

Either way, I'm quite excited to have a go at this. I have a 1x1 that takes place a year after WWI.

And who doesn't love Scarface ;D

@Monochromatic Rainbow, glad you like it.

The brutality of WW1 actually led to the Geneva Protocol in 1929. By today's standards, every nation could have been prosecuted for the sheer amount of gas they sent out. It's similar to how flamethrowers in WW2 led to an eventual ban in 1980 (they were used in WW1 and up to Vietnam). Point is, a crime can only be properly defined when it's been committed for the first time, and the first world war definitely shaped how we look at modern war crimes.

The post war settlements didn't even include any proper prosecutions against wartime atrocities. As far as I know, international war tribunals did not exist (as we know it today) until the end of WW2. Large events like the killings in Belgium and the Armenian Massacre got some coverage, but lesser known events like the Baralong incidents basically got free pass.

With that said, I'm trying to focus this (fictional) story on memes intrigue, action and human drama; rather than anything too political. The choice of Central Powers simply depicts an underrepresented group, one that is not fundamentally different from anybody else.

@MacabreFox, I was taught that the world wars were basically one war with a twenty-year ceasefire.

There seems to be a bit of WW1 resurgence in popular media, with films like War Horse and the new Wonder Woman, and games like Verdun and Battlefield 1.

I've read bits of your one-on-one RP with Dervs. Great stuff, by the way. You are welcome to link people or events from there to here, or vice versa.

@gcold

That was my general impression about each of those Wars.

And don't forget Peaky Blinders ;D That's what we based our story around. I think the popularity comes from the fact this era wasn't heavily represented in media in comparison to the dominant presence of WWII-era, and any movies based in the Victorian era.

And thanks for the snooping =:3
