You say that like Vesta would care? Using magic against her is rather silly since she's spent her entire life around the thing. She knows most magic inside out (due to her background).
Also Vesta would prefer a 1x1 fight anyway. She's not a fan of ganging up on someone (like how she let Zin fight Dante, or how she told everyone to leave Aleph to her) as she finds it quite dishonourable.
Of course if you fight dirty, she will too. Pun intended.

@Claw2k11 An enticing idea. You'll have your duel. But one on one still won't be a fair fight :P

My guy despises dirty fighting. Don't worry, he will fight honorably, one on one. But from what I got from that sentence, she is strong in magic, but I imagine she is very weak when it comes to physical combat.

@Zelosse

I didn't ask for a duel right now since I already have one, but do tell, is your character that strong that this battle would be unfair?

He took on four knights, two who are royal guards, and managed to get away alive. It doesn't help that he's also backed by what seems to be one of the Archbishops (Think Elite Bad Guy), and to know how strong they are, one just teleported right in front of one of my characters and killed her without a fight. So chances are if you end up fighting him, you won't be fighting him alone, and you'll need to pull out all the stops.

Only one way to find out. Although you might be in for a nasty surprise if you get too close.
Though she doesn't wear armor so landing a solid blow would hurt like hell.

Oh right, one more thing.

Though I'm not a GM, I was told that the chances of a person having a Divine Blessing itself is rare enough, let alone one that is actually useful or interesting (Having the ability to differentiate salt from sugar is considered a divine blessing), but someone with more than one is very, very rare. I tried to get two (One is his innate Arcane Resistance which is actually quite common among his clan) and another was allowing him to ignore encumbrance, but only one was allowed. Combined with having great magic ability as well as physical abilities (Or at least as good as an orc normally get), he certainly is high on the power level. He might even succeed where three knights and one skilled warrior failed.

Well, he fights honorable one-on-one duels not unfair battles, if he sees more than one enemy attacking him, then he'll start fighting dirty as well, or... if the enemy is too strong run away.

As for the two Divine Protections... well, I based this character off of one of one my characters from a previous (off-site) RP where he had the two powers I wrote in. Though as I think I've mentioned (I didn't... damn), if he uses the first Divine Protection for a protracted time he will be essentially consumed by the corrupted blood and die.

@Lunarlors34

Well then, then I just need to distract her for long enough to get close to her. Remember, if he wins, he expects at least a favor if she won't serve him.

My suggestion would be making the cursed blood simply a part of your magic rather then a divine blessing, considering that magic in the Re:Zero verse is somewhat ill-defined as it is. His soul stealing is certainly some sort of blessing, for the given amount of blessing such an ability falls under. Though if you do go with my suggestion, you should elaborate more about what your magic could do since it's obviously not like anything seen in either the anime series or light novels (We're trying to keep as close to canon as possible, presence of orcs aside).

That is to say, there's nothing that explicitly says what you want to do is impossible, but there isn't any evidence to support it either.

I wouldn't mind making his cursed blood as magic, though I'm not sure under which branch of magic it would fall since it offers clear physical and magical buffs in the short run, but essentially kills you in the long run.

The soul-stealing was added because this way, I would feel my character would actually get stronger, plus it's a downfall since he loses most of the benefits from this divine protection if he dies.

Though I would be glad to change their powers to something a bit more lore-friendly if needed.

Not really a downfall of the only fault is "loses it upon death", considering that logically you want to avoid dying whenever possible. And honestly, with the way it's currently written I can't help but think it may as well say "Unstoppable until something stops me". The power ensures that that the drawback doesn't take effect most of the time.

And admittedly the cursed blood magic dips into two since it's a mind effecting effect as well as fire. That's be Gao (fire) as well as Ying (curses). The buff also falls under Yang (Strengthening). And just about everyone can only use one type unless they have a divine blessing that lets them access more then one gate (types of magic).

If you really want to keep the cursed aspect, you'd need to stick with Yang. If you want fire power, only Gao. Buffs, Fura.You could try to improvise fire by being an alchemist and having developed some sort of napalm or other flammable oil.

I wish you luck distracting her.
If you plan on using fire to distract her by making her block it so he can flank her think again. Oldest trick in the book. She doesn't need to physically see her opponent to know where they are as I eluded to in an earlier fight against Aleph (it's buried somewhere).
Also if you did happen to get close enough Vesta knows her weaknesses and has made counters to them. You don't become the strongest earth mage (To be fair, that's mostly what she calls herself. It's yet to be proven. There could be a more powerful earth mage she doesn't know about XD) by ignoring your weaknesses and focusing on your strengths.

Also most people in this world will be forced to use incantations to use their magic. Vesta is one of those few who doesn't need one, though if she uses a big spell she will use one. If she starts using incantations then the fight will be getting quite serious XD

@Lucius Cypher@Claw2k11 Wouldn't it be wiser to make the cursed blood part of his Orcish heritage? A clan specialty so to speak. Do away with the whole divine blessing or magical mumbo jumbo altogether.

Actually, Yang's are buffs, Yin is debuff. My mistake. I was just remembering that Fura covers certain abilities outside of divine protection, which to me makes me think buffs. I forget about the Yin and Yang magics.

I think this might be the best option since he did inherit this from his father...

@Lunarlors34

If she's a earth mage, then how has she made counters to close melee attacks?

@Claw2k11 If it's inherited from your clan, it's probably still a Divine Protection. It's just a racial Divine Protection like Malakaus, and it'd still be a 1:10000000 for you to have more than one blessing. 1:1000000 for unique one on top of that, since I imagine that soul eating isn't a common ability even for the magically adapted.

As for how Vesta protects against melee, I imagine it involves something as simple as rock armor, or just putting a hole underneath you when you're within melee range. Because the issue with melee range is that you know where they're at: melee range. At least with ranged attacks you could threaten from ten feet or a hundred feet, but melee range is pretty straightforward.

Ah the same as using magic in a physical contest. As Lucius said, it's a pretty straightforward way of fighting. Though Vesta doesn't enjoy close quarter combat and will simply keep herself away from it.
She showed off a few counters against Aleph (e.g. setting up walls to prevent his advance, removing the ground from underneath him and making the ground ripple outwards). Let alone she kills Demon Beasts for a living mostly.
Other counters could be as Lucius said, rock armour, removing the ground from underneath Vesta herself (e.g. going underground), creating a dome around of herself, etc. She does have physical spells as well you know. (To what they are should be rather obvious)
Let alone perhaps shooting rocks if he gets too close. Who's to say Vesta doesn't keep a pocket full of pebbles for such a situation?
Lots of counters I can think of.

Aye, the difference between a pebble and a bullet is the material it's made out of. And honestly, anything going as fast as a bullet may as well be a bullet, be it launched through magic or a gun. But that's why Malakaus wears armor, and knows how to use it. Oh sure, it seems like everyone has magic strong enough to nullify plate, but just as some people master a sword, Malakaus has mastered his armor. All he needs is to get his old armor fixed up and I can ensure you that he'd last much longer then he did last time.

Pshh all this talk about Vesta and making it sound like she's neigh invincible and I already have the perfect plan for Aleph to beat her, in one quick attack!

Of course it would require him to be evil because of personal values restricting him.

Also it involves self harm.

And it would likely require an interaction prior between the two to confirm something.

Ezpz, no challenge whatsoever. :^)
