WH40k: Shadow War
An Inquisition/Dark Heresy RP
This RP is now accepting new characters
Summary/Out of Character:
Hail and well met,
This will be my first attempt at running a DH-style RP - one based on the daring do of the Emperor's Inquisition - and also one of the few times that I have ventured into the Casual section at all. I'm here for some fresh blood, and also for some writers up for some underhanded and cloak-and-dagger action in service to the God-Emperor.
Players will take the role of acolytes; individuals from many different backgrounds and of varying but useful occupations, all in service to the Inquisitor (myself) and through then the Imperium.
I intend for this to be an ever evolving adventure, the choices you make having an affect on what happens and where the RP goes. What I require in this case is a small group (5 or so players) of dedicated roleplayers that can post at least twice a week and not simply bail on me quarter of a way through.
A decent grasp of English will also be required, and the ability to use it. In this case, initially at least, I'll be using your character application/profile/sheet, as well as RPing history, to determine suitability - please don't get this twisted for elitism or segregation, but past experience may have tinged my views slightly.
One thing you may all want to know, which is quite important, is that your characters will probably have been working for the Inquisition for about 2 years - if they've even been working for it at all until this point, your choice - but likely never have even met or know the true name of the Inquisitor his/herself.
Now, since you've read this far (assuming you have...), if you have any questions to ask then please ask away!

In Character Info:
The last rays of sunshine had disappeared over the horizon some hours ago, the lumelamps starting up with a slight whirr and hum before projecting there own sickly yellow luminescence, streaks of lamplight marking the timber frames of the tall houses on either side of the cobbled street where not a soul seemed to move; on the agri-world of Newrun it was traditional for all inhabitants to retire to their wood-and-white homes after sunset, the sturdy structures supported by hefty interior beams, low ceilings and kept warm by thatched rooftops that caught the winter snows. On this particular night not everyone had retired as was customary, in fact an entire retinue was making its way down the uneven street, down toward a waiting transport that would take them and their precious cargo down to the coastal port and from there eventually to a ship in orbit.
Inquisitor Therman Vale checked his comm once again, checking in with each of the twelve figures surrounding the shielded crate behind him, the slightly rusted wheels of the cart upon which it was being pulled giving the older warrior of the Emperor a slight migraine. Each one returned his hail, his Interrogator Hermann Ust, his sanctioned psyker Petrice De Vwah, and ten Stormtroopers clad in the crimson and black bodysuits and carapace armour of scions transferred to the Inquisition.
"I don't like this, Vale," grunted the experienced but very informal Interrogator, his eyes turning once more to the crate, a shiver running up his spine, "surely they don't all just retire for crumpets and amamsec?" A sneeze bought his attention back to the coated man before him, the broad figure of the Inquisitor moving in a casual manner, but Hermann knew him better than to let such things deceive him.
"On this world, as boring as it is, that is exactly what they do." Came the crackled response in his ear, the Mordian-born Inquisitor-in-training giving another snort of derision for these lax people and their almost decadent way of life.
It was only a moment later that the first projectile came whizzing from the darkness just beyond the streetlight, a solid slug that blew the head of the eerily attractive De Vwah into nothing more than a red mist, further shots plucking a trooper from his feet and sending the rest of the group scurrying for cover by the corners of houses and in the alleyways between them.
"Do not let them take the crate!" Yelled the Inquisitor into his comm-bead, pulling his combat shotgun from the holster upon his back in one smooth motion, the Stormtroopers moving back into the open and forming a cordon around the cart and crate even as the first of a howling mob burst onto the scene at both ends of the street, Hermann cursing and raising his las pistol to send beams of superheated energy into the nondescript figures sprinting toward them as fast as their feet could carry them.
Hellguns cut swathes through the clamouring mobs, Vale blowing chunks out of whomever approached until his weapon ran dry and he was forced to draw his powersword in a blaze of energy, his Interrogator following suit and soon finding himself grappling with an assailant face-to-face...
They're weaing masks, his mind registered, even as a second and third figure came at him from behind, bloody ugly masks!
Within half-an-hour the conflict was over, the bodies of the Inquisitor and his entire retinue disappearing, along with whatever cargo they had been transporting, into the frosty night. When Imperial agents returned to Newrun seeking answers they instead found nothing, nothing accept an entire village of loyal citizens all claiming the same thing - that they had never even seen those they spoke of, and that they were simply a peaceful planet of agri-workers.
Such has been the accepted story for over three decades, Newrun and the sub-sector in which is sits continuing as it always had, and everything as quiet as it could possibly be...until now.

To whom it may concern, welcome.
You have received this message by order of His most Holy Inquistion, the Ordo Xenos to be more precise, for you are one of the chosen few and therefore a most gifted individual. Though you do not know my master - or eachother for that matter - you have been selected to serve he and Him on Terra; some of you may have served him for the past two years, while some may have only recently been deigned strong enough left your own worlds, all that matters now is that you are called upon to do your duty to the God-Emperor and serve His Inquisition in this time of need.
The details of your assignment shall be revealed to you in four days, feel free to make yourselves comfortable. This is an Imperial station and a well used thoroughfare, each of you has been assigned a suite of their own for the duration of your stay. Upon noon of the fourth day you will be sent a communique wherever you are aboard the station, and the location for your first briefing.
Do not try to contact me, do not try to trace this message, and do not ever become inattentive in mind or action.
The Emperor protects.

Character Sheet
Please submit your character sheets by sending them to me in a Private Message before posting them to the Character tab.
I've decided to try something a little different with this RP, and it is thus;
Could you please write about your character in prose form, it can be as long as you like, but must include the important details – those being things such as their name, possibly their age, what they look like (clothes, weapons, etc), belief systems, where they come from (feel free to make up countries, regions and so on), and anything else you feel might be important.
You can simply write about them, include everything in a short story about them, however you see fit really.
Please PM them to me when you are done, and I look very much forward to reading them.
