@Guess Who There's actually gonna be a bit of lore on the Naga Clan in the upcoming Red Nile story, and it does have some relations to the whole Human & Faunus situation! It's nothing direct that influences the Remnant lore too much, but it makes Sangue feel more of an oddball.

Obviously, Shiro is not a normal tiger faunas.

He's actually a human faunas, and is primarily a tiger. Just as pops was trying to figure out if he could turn Faunas into humans, someone, somewhere, was trying to turn animals into faunas. Shiro is a product of such an experiment and why he has so many animistic traits for a faunas, because he was once a normal animal, now in humanoid form.

And nothing has been said to deny my hypothesis, and thus it may as well be canon.

That explains a disturbing number of things. It all makes sense now.

I can see in a different AU, an angsty teenaged Shiro trying to conceal his faunus traits. His mother and father pick up on this and question him about it only to have him go

"I DIDN'T ASK TO BE THIS WAY MOM!"

Then running to his room and slamming the door to drone out their worried knocks with that world's equivalent of My Chemical Romance/Fall Out Boy.
