For centuries, humans have been under the impression that magic was nothing but a fairy tale. This, however, is incorrect. Magic has always been all around us, just hidden from our site.


The balance of magic in our world has been kept protected by a sacred jewel, known as Yenna's Crystal. Yenna, a high priestess, had turned herself, body and soul, into this twelve foot crystal and it is her own magic that keeps chaos at bay. The power of darkness and light are stored within the crystal, and if it falls into the wrong hands... all is lost.

All this time, the crystal was hidden in a cave up in the mountains. The city of New York was built up near it, and had grown since then.

But the world has turned dark. With every new burst of anger and every war, the king of darkness, Dormammu, has gained strength after being defeated by Yenna. Dormammu was her student all those centuries ago, but his heart had turned to greed and blackness, craving for power. Now that his power has returned, Dormammu defeated the saints who had protected the sacred crystal, and had stolen it. In the battle to retrieve it, the jewel shattered into hundreds of shards.


The shards of darkness, known as the Yang shards, had attached themselves to those with darkness in their hearts, pure hatred. They turned the humans into monsters of despair, known as Daemons, who wielded incredible dark power and run rampant through the streets until they destroy the things which made them so hateful.

But, there are others, 12 exactly. The shards of light, the Yin shards, attached to people with morals and a true soul. Though their personalities are all different, and their backgrounds may be poor, they are pure in heart despite what others may say. They have the power of light and balance, the only people able to destroy the Daemons and reclaim the shards before Dormammu collects them first. They, are known as Niflheim.

The race to reforge the crystal and restore balance to the world is on. There are still many missing Yin and Yang shards that are somewhere in New York. If they get out of this area, the whole world will eventually be infected with Daemons.

The faction of balance. The Magic And Neutralization Association, or MANA, is an association of wizards, healers, white witches, and the like who are stationed on the outskirts of the big cities. Linked to the churches and temples, MANA is the physical form of protection. The religious houses use prayer to heal emotional and social wounds of black magic, while MANA are the ones who do the footwork and nullify the evil, even though they are almost completely unknown to the modern world. They are the ones who are called now when a new Daemon appears, and while the church distracts the common people and keeps them safe MANA destroys the threat. The Niflheim are now apart of this organization, and are going to become the top warriors against Dormammu.

The faction of chaos. Devilia is a much less organized group, filled with many different people. It includes dark mages, necromancers, and more. Devilia struggles to gain power over anything, and to do so they struggle to throw the world into absolute chaos. Only then will their leader, Dormammu, become ruler and they his faithful servants. The Daemons have joined this force, with the prospect of gaining what they desire most when Dormammu becomes ruler— whether it be money, love, or simply happiness.

These are really just the magic users (or sometimes even Daemons) who are not a part of either of the other two factions, and are considered neutral. Some may be closer to one faction than the other, or even help out that faction from time to time, but prefer to stay out of the fighting between the two. Some form small groups together, but most stay solitary from the rest of the magic world. They often try to lead normal lives if they can, or sometimes like to cause trouble between the factions. Really, it's all up in the air with these people.

Ranking is different for different roles.

Magic Users, whether dark or light, use a letter grading system.
C= The lowest power level. Apprentice. Cannot go fight without two other C levels, or one user from a higher level.
B= Common power level. Fighter. Can only fight in pairs of twos.
A= Advanced power level. Master. Can fight alone, but is recommended to have an ally.
S= Highly skillful. Power house. Recommended to fight alone. Top of class.
SS= Best fighters in faction. Legend. Fighting together can be pure destruction, alone is deadly to the opponent.

Daemons are ranked by a star system. You can determine what level a Daemon's threat is by snapping a picture and sending it to your faction's database. A response should come in 1-2 minutes. It is recommended not to fight and/or capture it until a threat level is determined. Daemons can be returned to normal if knocked unconscious and brought to the MANA tech lab, but if it is angered by the same thing again they will resort back to their Daemon form. This is not a recommended course of action.
1-2 Star, Common= Very low threat. Can be killed by a couple of C-levels.
3 Star, Charged= More of a threat, but still not very deadly. Usually has an element affinity. A B-Level can fight this one.
4 Star, Monster= High level threat. Can usually destroy an entire block. Multiple B-Levels or an A level is required.
5 Star, Hell= Very high threat. Can have dual elements. Highly aggressive. Requires 2 or more S levels or an SS level.
6 Star, Immortal= Truly deadly Daemon. Incredibly high rate of deaths, and very hard to destroy. Multiple SS levels may be required.

Personality: Arden is mellow and soft-spoken. He keeps to himself and is not one to strike a conversation with people. He prefers to talk gently and offer his opinions in an unassuming way. Despite his gentle nature, he is quick to act when the situation demands for it and he can be effective in dealing with serious situations as he keeps a level head. Even if it is rare, he keeps his smiles reserved for the people he had grown a fondness too and he tends to care for them like a brother would. He likes the company of his friends but he doesn't mind being on his own.
History: He grew up in an orphanage. It all happened because his parents died in an accident - they were immigrants - and by tracking their records, they had no living relative, hence with Arden ending up in the home for orphans. Despite the many boys and girls that he lived with for years, he never made a lot of friends except for only one boy he had taken to as an older brother. Eventually, the only orphan he managed to befriend got adopted and he was left to himself once more. When he came of age, he left the orphanage and found employment at the local library with the help of the boy he considered as his brother. There, he surreptitiously stumbled upon members of M.A.N.A and they discovered his potential for magic. He went to with them to be taught magic where he learned of his skill in summoning. He still visits often to develop his skills but he has never attempted or showed any interest in joining them.
Other: He has random butterflies, fireflies, dragonflies, and moths hovering around him. They keep him company and they act as his summons and also mediums to channel his magic.

Personality: Tooru is often misunderstood with being cocky but she's actually just confident in her skills. When she takes pride in something, she usually has something to back it up with - experience or talent. Given this, her success as a teen idol is understandable. She enjoyed the spotlight as she had nothing better to do back then, but now she really wants to settle down, finish college and get onto with her life. However, she is helpful to a fault. She has this impulse to protect or help a person in trouble and this either leads her to be thanked or in huge trouble.

History: Tooru was born to a loving mother and father. She led a normal for a while. She had friends, she played frequently and she had good grades. Her parents were earning well-enough that they were able to take her to places she would highly enjoy. She really did enjoy her young life. However, when she turned 13, her parents got into a car accident. His father died instantly and her mother fell into a coma. She burned through all of the money just to assure that her mother can stay in the hospital but then she had nothing else to pay. That was when someone approached her and she became a teen idol. Her popularity skyrocketed thanks to her skill in singing and dancing and not to mention, pretty good looks.

When she was 15, her mother woke up from her coma and then proceeded on to their normal lives. Right around this time, a group has taken an interest in her. Her career ended when she was 17 as she wanted to move on. She had enough money and her mother was working again. She then continued school normally. Then she received a scholarship from a school in New York. She jumped at the chance to study there.

She didn't think of anything of it. She should have.
