@Masaki Haruna@Weird Tales
For me personally, the best fight was Pain versus Naruto.

I agree Pain vs Naruto was good, I do think that the Jiraiya vs Pain fight was what gave Pain vs Naruto the proper weight to be so good.

Honourable mentions to the Might Guy vs Madara fight. That was very cathartic

@GowiYeah, but Kishimoto realized that would seal him into doing NaruSasu ending and came up with the Bullshit mass revival jutsu at the end(the most annoying part of that entire arc for me, personally)

@Weird TalesYeah, I definitely would like to just get some other stories about more of the Jinnchuriki, like Yagura, Fuu, the steam guy, Roshi, all of them. I think Sasuke was okay until he started getting his major power boner near the end of the first show and defected, which started his long downward spiral as a character for me. Like, Sasuke should be one of my favorites given my tastes, but I can't fuckin' stand him and never will, nor understand why people do. He's just not a good character in my eyes.

Clearly the best ending is where Sasuke goes into seclusion, Naruto never becomes hokage and wanders the world in hopelessness, and Sakura has a loveless existence in Konoha. All three trapped in their own misery until the next generation.

@GowiI agree with Sasuke, but I think Naruto deserves some praise. He has his good moments, and he does grow as a character throughout his journey, unlike Sasuke who only really got his growth shoved in near the end. Sakura earns neither respect nor hate from me, I simply don't care about her. She was annoying in the Naruto, tolerable in Shippuden except the part where she tried to manipulate Naruto's feelings for her in order to make him do what she wants. I don't care what her intentions where, that's fucked up and I'll never forgive her for that shit..

For me the first mistake Kishimoto made was allowing Sasuke to learn how to move at incredible speeds like Lee within such a short amount of time when it was clearly stated that his Sharingan could not grant him the ability to perform such strenuous techniques without being physically capable of the moves.

@Weird TalesI forgot, wasn't it taxing on his body or something? I don't have trouble seeing Sasuke being able to push himself to weighted Lee speeds for his Lion Barrage technique, but feeling like shit afterwards. It seems possible within his skill set to be able to push himself to that while copying lee's movements. If tjere wasn't a real drawback, though, then yeah, that's bull.

I was referring to his fight with Gaara where he apparently learned how to move at Lee's unweighted speeds. That was just stretching and seemed ridiculous. It was almost like a middle finger to the concept of hard working ninja being able to go up against the prodigies and win.

That's some Mary Sue shit right there

@Weird TalesOh yeah, that's a 100% bullshit. It's been awhile since I last watched the original show, so I forgot about that.

@Weird TalesBut didn't sasuke spend a whole month training with Kakashi to get up to Lee's speed? Spending a whole month building up ones speed isn't hard work?

Kishimoto had some really great character ideas, but he didn't let them flourish and instead focused on Naruto and Sasuke more, which to me was a mistake. Naruto to me was always better when the focus was on the world and all of the mysterious techniques and ninjas within it.

It definitely wasn't a month, I think it was a week or two before the fight. It certainly wasn't that long between Lee's fight with Gaara and Sasuke's match.

It was a month. They were to train a month after the second test for the third. The episodes made it seem like a week, since Naruto was passed out for most of it and training to summon stuff.

Edit- Nevermind.

I just read that. Still it feels like a bad move on Kishimoto's part

I think a month was pushing it. The level of training that made Lee that fast/strong, would (imo) be way longer than that, even if it was a constant thing.

I don't know if a month was pushing it. Given how the Uchiha have a slight learning curve advantage, and also Sasuke was already fast to begin with. He was able to keep up with Haku in the beginning once he got the sharingan. Plus he was training with Kakashi under whatever training method they used. Given, Kakashi put Naruto under a training method that lead him one of his strongest jutsu. A month training under Kakashi and being an Uchiha, I don't think a month was too early.

@BladeSS4 Plus they were bee-lining speed over all else. Kakashi was like "You're gonna be a lightning bullet. That is all" and that was the entire strategy really. It was still dumb with him matching Rock Lee, but I can see how it would happen
