What if he is just slightly disappointed in you? He gives you a gaze that purely says "You could've done so much better... Why", a glance that haunts your dreams with what you could've done, what could've been.

@Skepic, the gates of Komei Academy were locked and the students got panicked thinking they we're going to be late (an action that could result in being expelled). Kids chaotically run through the school and face obstacles that try to stop them from getting to class. Once in class Yoshida speaks and introductions start. Now, there is supposedly supposed to be a tournament arc competition amongst the students.

That's pretty much it, a lot of the IC is small-talk and relationship development, really.
